Obama to name economic recovery advisory team Friday

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Obama will name the members of his Economic Recovery Advisory Board and lay out its mandate at a White House event tomorrow, the White House confirmed Thursday.

Obama will appear with Paul Volcker, who is heading the new group. That panel is tasked with assisting the president as he looks to reduce unemployment and stabilize the markets.

  13. VOTE FOR MSNBC

One of the commentor talks about TAX CUTS during REAGAN years...well my question is simple....did we have this housing crisis and the banking collapse during Reagan years? I am amazed that dumbness is contagious and most Republicans already have the disease.

GIVE THE PRESIDENT A CHANCE...LET HIM IMPLEMENT HIS POLICIES and WE CAN GO ON FROM THERE AND PILE ON HIM IF ITS NOT WORKING INSTEAD OF DOING IT RIGHT NOW LIKE CNN.

I know you wont post my comments...which is why i choose HUFFINGTONPOST

Wow, isn't this why we already have our various Senate Comittee's (and Subcomittee's) and all the other departments! I think he and his cabinet along with Reid and Pelosi should act as a Recovwery Advisory team!

Please people will you please give this president a chance, he has not had a decent chance. Everyone in the media is slamming him. I have read the blogs on CNN today, a lot of them were racist and some of them were from people that had voted for Obama and wanted to take their votes back. In four years, you will have another choice but I do not care who it is you will be unhappy and quick to judge. Le without sin cast the first stone. You are not helping this situation only creating hate and fear.

Who among those obama followers that were students of and followers of the Saul Alinsky model for government does he have in waiting to fill this committee.

"CHANGE" Google Saul Alinskey, read some of his speeches, every third word (just like obama) is "change" These people are in a demolition derby and their target....The USofA.

The President should begin delegating his authority next week with separate groups handling different priorities since he inherited an incredibly broken government with most inoperable at present or incredibly incompetent at best. By allowng Mr. Volcker to handle the financial/stimulus priority he can then focus upon seating his cabinet to get the government functioning again. Our President has a tremendous task ahead and needs the support of everyone as he will not only survive but thrive!!!

Mr. Volcker is heading this team, thank GOD! Please have some state governors – Democrat & Republican – who have good ideas and knows how to get things DONE! Because our Congress is letting the American people down.

  21. Unemployment Strategy Unveiled

The world now umderstands how President Obama is going to solve the unemployment problem. He is going to hire 5,000,000 people and put them all on task forces and committees to study the problem. Brilliant !

Who will represent the minority view that the Keynesian theoretical underpinning for a stimulus is by no means certain to work, and that betting a trillion or so of taxpayers' money may not have the desired effect on the economy?

Danny Boy, you closet Republican, if you don't have a really better idea, please step off and let President Obama try to fix the mess he took on. People like you nodded dumbly as Bush & Co. drove this country into the ground and NOW all of a sudden you have opinions????? Please, please, pack up and leave this country. We want peace and prosperity back. We want America back and we pray the President Obama's policies are permitted to work.
