In a letter to the president, the former vice presidential candidate urges Obama to discuss the construction of an Alaska natural gas pipeline when he sits down with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

(CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made a special appeal to President Obama Friday, asking him to keep her state in mind when he travels to Canada in two weeks.

In a letter to the president, the former vice presidential candidate urges Obama to discuss the construction of an Alaska natural gas pipeline when he sits down with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

“Alaskans have appreciated your strong support for the construction of such a pipeline," Palin wrote. "This project is now moving forward, and I believe that a discussion between you and Prime Minister Harper would greatly facilitate the process now under way.”

The pipeline, currently in planning stages, could reportedly generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in revenue for the state. Obama expressed support for the project during the campaign.

To Frank in Mich - just because you accomplish something doesn't always make you good at it. Also, I'm sure you've criticized many people who've accomplished more than you have. Possibly Angie.

If the pipeline is already in the works...what, exactly, does Palin want Obama to do? Or is this just one more roadblock the neocons are throwing up to make Barack's job harder – to hamstring his efforts to clean up the mess they created?

I marvel at the Palin family's ability to make the best of a every situation and turn it around. Just think Sarah was selected to run as VP when she was going through some of the worst battles of her life.

The pipeline would put people to work, and secure a means to transport a needed source of fuel. The reason Palin needs Obama to talk with the Canadian PM is to secure the ability to dig on foreign soil that the lines would run through. Alaska is one of a very few states that are not in the Red as far as balance sheets go. When gas jumps to $ 3 – 4.00 a gallon again probably this summer we will have no one to blame but ourselves. If you want to bash her on hunting wolves from a helicopter well do the research but remember wolves are a predatory animal they reproduce faster and have more pups per litter than the animals they prey on... As a person who hunts I believe in conservation as well as preservation. If you've never watched a predatory animal brutally attack a basically defenseless animal then go to Alaska or any other area these type animals have dominion over. Lastly if you think hunting is a bad way to put food on the table, go to a slaughter house before your next visit to a fast food restaurant to order a Big Mac. Oh yeah Hollywood stars don't eat...

Lets see, a governor of a state that wasn't asking for a handout, just a word of support from our President for a pipeline deal that she already started with Canada. Sounds like fiscal responsibility to me, a state trying to work out their own economic problems. But this doesn't fall in line with the socialist agenda of the Obama administration or the Palin haters on this site.

Regardless of how one feels about Gov. Palin, this is a great story of bi-partisanship. Gov Palin and Pres. Obama are probably as far apart on many issues as two people could be but they've come to an understanding on this issue and kudos to the Governor for sending this gracious communique to the President. I hope there's more of that from both sides.

Why should Canada help Alaska? Canada would be better off helping itself only just as America is doing with its stimulus bill........buy American, right?

Instead of looking for a handout, Palin is looking for a project that will benefit everyone, her state, the US as a whole, and Canada. Give her the credit. I can't stand her, but when she does something OK, she should be supported. All I see everywhere else is a bunch of governors and mayors looking for handouts and not telling us anything about what they want these handouts for.

Those who disrespect Gov. Palin are only disrespecting themselves. If there were a compilation (and there may be somewhere) of all the unprecedented vitriolic slander directed at this absolutely charming intelligent and RESPECTFUL woman, it would deserve a place of honor in a Hall Of Shame.
I have come to the conclusion that certain types of people need scapegoats and sacrificial victims to satisfy some kind of atavistic sadism that compels them to attack what is beautiful and good. Any NORMAL human being, would be able to see that Sarah Palin is a down to earth good person and agree or disagree with her policies and positions, afford the high respect that is her DUE, that she DESERVES, for her honest work on behalf of the American People and her lifelong efforts to live in a loving, intelligent and moral life..

If anyone thinks that Obama is going to help make this Palin Idiot look like she did something useful – and help give her a meager claim for her 2012 resume – well, I would say that those people didn't watch the last 2 years of campaigning very closely.

CNN – we want equal time from ALL GOVERNORS. This one has stuck in our craw too many times.

Let's hear from the other 49 – especially the intelligent females we've elected.

Come on CNN. ONE of you must have a degree in journalism that didn't take 6 or so years and several colleges to get (how many professors? wink wink).

Let us hear from ONE GOVERNOR A WEEK, or substitute another governor every time this one wants more free space. Stop the Sarah Crap
