In a letter to the president, the former vice presidential candidate urges Obama to discuss the construction of an Alaska natural gas pipeline when he sits down with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

(CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made a special appeal to President Obama Friday, asking him to keep her state in mind when he travels to Canada in two weeks.

In a letter to the president, the former vice presidential candidate urges Obama to discuss the construction of an Alaska natural gas pipeline when he sits down with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

“Alaskans have appreciated your strong support for the construction of such a pipeline," Palin wrote. "This project is now moving forward, and I believe that a discussion between you and Prime Minister Harper would greatly facilitate the process now under way.”

The pipeline, currently in planning stages, could reportedly generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in revenue for the state. Obama expressed support for the project during the campaign.

Oink Oink - Pork for ONE state is not stimulus for the country.

We want electric and hybrid. She (Pain) has such an addiction to OIL. Wonder what her future son-in-laws mother has given her?

Canadians who will be effected by this pipeline will have a great deal more to say than Americans and Ms Palin think...perhaps we can make a deal if you make a reasonable deal with Artic sovereignty!

Why do we need another pipeline? Don't we all ready have a very long pipeline through the "stans" and winding through Afghanistan? Isn't this pipeline the main reason we are at war in Afghanistan? Not only do we want to kill countless Iraqi/Afghani citizens, now we want to kill the environment as well? We, as a people, are not responsible enough to use oil as an energy source. If we cannot transport oil up and down the Mississippi river without spilling it and causing some sort of environmental disaster, why are we going to suddenly be "responsible" enough to build another pipeline in an environmentally sensitive area? We have been using the Mississippi river for hundreds of years and we are still spilling oil/hazardous chemicals into it. This is the height of irresponsibility!
For those close minded individuals who feel oil is the only viable energy source, think again. The earth itself is too valuable a resource to continue in the manner in which we have been doing so for hundreds of years.
Anyone who wants to drill for oil in ANWAR is foolishly irresponsible! Besides, who wants to listen to an individual who cannot name a single source of print media?

    CNN ,
Look into pipeline contracts and favoritism in regards to Palin.
She was fighting an inquiry into allegations of contract biding in 2008.

After the way this women treated Obama in the run up to the election! I don't think she has any room to seek any favors! I think Obama has more important issues to discuss with Prime Minister Harper than the betterment of your great state of Alaska! WE ALL need jobs and revenue right now its the economy stupid so take a number and wait you're turn like the rest of us Queen Sarah!!!!!!

Have you been paying attention to the price of oil lately? Most of the high profile – high price projects in the oil patch have been shelved UNTIL THE ECONOMY GETS BACK ON TRACK!!! WAKE UP Governor!
I truly hope that the pipeline project stays on track as it will employ many Canadians. If you have been watching, there have been some explosions (illegal) in Northern Alberta / British Columbia communities hindering existing pipeline operations. This is becoming a very touchy environmental issue, right up Ms. Palin's alley.

This woman is a big joke. I didn't hear her pushing any thing from Bush Administration. Matter of fact nobody even knew who she was for before Old Man McCain selected her for his VP pick. Now she just won't shut up or go away. She will never be VP or President of the US becasue she don't know what to shut the hell up. She can take that pipeline and shovle it up you no where. Get lost lady with your pipeline dream. By the time 2012 get her we all will be very sick of you including the far right wing nut Repbulican. No like a person that can not shut up. Lady I know you read blogs and I hope you read CNN becasue most of us hate you for not taking a lose like a man.

FINALLY, a story about this woman that's actually NEWS. Congratulations CNN. You have finally gotten the message.

Guess what Ms. Palin-President Obama has a lot of important matters/states to deal with right now. Your hole in the wall state will just have to wait. Just because the republicans think you're special does not mean the rest of us do or care. I'm sure you will find a way to steal the funds you need anyway and claim it as "business as usual."

I thought she had already built the pipeline. Wasn't that one of her big achievements that qualified her to run for national office?

OK, is it "moving forward," or in the "planning stages?" When she gave her big Convention speech, she made it sound like it was built and ready to deliver gas. HA! The project, should it get Canadian support, will deliver natural gas in about 10 years, about the same amount of time it would take for any new drilling, also supported by Palin, of course, to make an impact. But hey, her daughter's baby's daddy needs a job, too, at least once he graduates from high school for real. And how many of the jobs will be American anyway? Isn't most of the proposed pipeline through Canada?
