In a letter to the president, the former vice presidential candidate urges Obama to discuss the construction of an Alaska natural gas pipeline when he sits down with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

(CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made a special appeal to President Obama Friday, asking him to keep her state in mind when he travels to Canada in two weeks.

In a letter to the president, the former vice presidential candidate urges Obama to discuss the construction of an Alaska natural gas pipeline when he sits down with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

“Alaskans have appreciated your strong support for the construction of such a pipeline," Palin wrote. "This project is now moving forward, and I believe that a discussion between you and Prime Minister Harper would greatly facilitate the process now under way.”

The pipeline, currently in planning stages, could reportedly generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in revenue for the state. Obama expressed support for the project during the campaign.

This multi-billion dollar pipe line has to go through Canadian wilderness areas and native lands. Its destination is the Canadian Tar Sands, one of the most polluting projects in the world and not worth the billions it costs now that the price of oil has dropped.

To go through the native lands here will have to be permission granted by native people. I do not think Palin has much support amount them after the way she has treated aboriginal people in Alaska.

Besides Harper is a minority Prime Minister, he doesn't have much power. President Obama will likely be discussing NATO partnership in Afghanistan which the majority of Canadians are against.

Keep spinning those pipeline pipe dreams little Sarah.

I'm glad he supports it. We'll need the oil revenues to pay off the billions of government waste that is about to come down on our heads.

II'm not normally mean – have become that way only recently.

I hope Campbell Brown, Lou Dobbs and Ed Henry lose their jobs. Hope they starve like some of the people I see in my town. (Although, with the facial fat on all 3, I imagine it would take months for them to even be hungry).

Gee Sarah, are you sure he's "qualified" enough to do that for you? Maybe he's too "inexperienced" to even remember to ask a favor for you.
Alaska should secede from the U.S. Go fry a mooseburger and watch the sunset over Russia.

I remember reading about some potential problems with this pipeline. Apparently much of it would have to be constructed through Canada and Native groups were very concerned about the pipeline cutting through lands that are sacred to them.

Palin made a lot of speeches about this pipeline but it was mostly in the "pipedream" stages with years of planning ahead.

I think her 15 minutes of fame are almost over.........

Oh.....that is funny. Sarah asking for Obama's help. Yeah, ok....she needs to stop focusing on everybody else and work on issues within her own home; teenage pregnancy & name choices for her children/granchildren. Can you say white-trash!

Instead of asking the President, she should ask the de facto Republican leaders, Joe the Plumber and Rush Limbaugh, for help.

Sarah Palin is a joke.. Luckily President Obama was a Community Organizer." He really needs to tell Sarah "the joke" Palin to take care of her "sideline husband, her fast daughter and her lame duck boyfriend" and start some community organizing in Alaska to get her pipe dreams fulfilled.

"The pipeline, currently in planning stages, could reportedly generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in revenue for the state."

The pipeline, if it ever happens, will generate thousands of jobs and billion dollars in Canada – not Alaska, not the U.S. – but, Canada. It's a Canadian company Palin gave the $500 million to. In the end, if you have a natural gas pipeline with no natural gas going through it – who is that going to benefit? Nobody! President Obama is such a gentlemen, however he should just ignore her. Make Palin go away!!

"Mean" doesn't just "happen". It comes from years of abuse and being used. Much like what the republicans and wealthy have done to all of us that have lost jobs.

    Thanks W and thanks Cheney.
