Sarah Palin's husband, aides found in contempt

Todd Palin, shown campaigning in Virginia in 2008, didn't testify, but submitted a statement in the case.

Todd Palin, shown campaigning in Virginia in 2008, didn't testify, but submitted a statement in the case.

(CNN) - Todd Palin and nine aides were found in contempt Friday by the Alaska Senate for failing to appear to testify in the Legislature's "troopergate" investigation of his wife, Gov. Sarah Palin, a spokeswoman for the Alaska Democratic Party said.

But a Senate resolution said no one should be punished, because the 10 did submit statements to the investigator, the Anchorage Daily News reported.

The governor's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The investigation concerns the governor's firing of the state's public safety commissioner, Walter Monegan.

A bipartisan commission in the state Legislature investigated allegations that Palin fired Monegan after he refused to sack her ex-brother-in-law, State Trooper Mike Wooten. The governor, first elected in 2006, has denied wrongdoing.

Will CNN's love of Palin and constantly giving her the headlines never stop??
Their support of the republicans is disgraceful and destroys any integrity they could have. For example, read yesterday how many republican appearances they have on their shows compared to Democrats. It was double the number.
That is fair and balanced reporting? They strongly support and air
those who are against the stimulous/job creating bill, helping the
republicans put us into another Republican Great Depression.
Course, know this will not be posted due to their strigent

So basically, you are telling us that there is no story, but you put the headline up there to get some clicks and to further try to smear Palin. It was a win-win for you CNN. Good job.

"Sarah Palin's husband, aides found in contempt"

Please, someone, make multiple hard copies of this and post it verbatim everywhere possible on the Web. The revisionist Palinista will be out in force denying it ever happened. Preemptive action can preserve history.

Wow, Imagine that - another Republican who doesn't have to answer a subpeona issued by the legislative bodies! Wow. Such a surprise.

I can hear her now "He's innocent because he didn't go to jail." He's in contempt of court, and SHOULD be at least fined. But hey, it's Alaska, and they really do things differently. I just wonder if between this and her own ethics problems, Alaskans will really re-elect this family.

Let's be objective about Sarah Palin:

She's marginally intelligent, with a limited education and life experience
Todd Palin had the same contractor who built a $20 Million athletic center for Wasilla (population 8000+) and taxed the local populace unnecesarily for.
She is/was grossly unqualified to be Governor, let alone VP or US Senator.
She is corrupt, a liar and dishonest. Her travel budget, reimbursements, payments by lobbyist and contractors clearly demonstrate this. You really can't see Russia from Alaska and that doesn't qualify this wingnut as proof of foreign policy experience.
She is against abortion under any circumstance.

The blind support of her by religious zealots and neocons is absurd. I certainly hope they offer her up in a national election in 2012 as everyone will need fresh meat to eat and she will embarras herself, yet again.

More Palin news "we can't use" at CNN. You guys must be bored at CNN. Can you please stop the Palin news? Before McCain picked her for a vp candidate, no one on the planet cared about this enigma, now she goes to the grocery store and it's headlines! Please let her go!

    How inept .
So Iguess there are 2 sets of laws in Alaska, laws that the people have to live by and then the ones for the Palin family.
    I get it now.

So.....if I fail to appear on the strength of a summons, but send in a statement, do I get the same treatment? I can be found in contempt but not charged with anything? Or does it only work if I can see Russia from mine or my bosses' house? So. Many. Questions.

Small time politics at its finest... that good ole boy, ole time politics! You scratch my back and I will scratch your back. Did anyone.... ANYONE actually think that the state of Alaska was going to do anything but posture over this issue? Actually what this does is give the Gov. Sarah some more press. And when they win this issue... ah, more fodder for her good reputation. Pffft... I'm spitting up in my mouth! I really see a Limbaugh/Palin campaign in our future... I mean serious!

I ask myself, on a daily basis, "What will it take to get Sarah Palin, and her brood of yahoos, out of the news." She has become the proverbial "dime novel" of the old west. Everything about her is based on stupidy surrounding by nothing other than a pack of "big ole" lies. And yet, the media continues to give this "retarded, over-aged, Bong-faced, Barbee doll," news coverage. I simply don't get it.

The ongoing saga of this family is of no real interest. Why should this particular group of trailer trash continue to make headlines? The only real interest is the question "Why in the name of all that is America did the Republican Party select Ms Palin as their candidate"? "Was she the best candidate they had?

This family are the worst kind of white trash. You can dress them up with $100,000 wardrobes but you clearly can't educate them, teach them manners, morals or honesty.

It's time for these weasels to disappear... 14.59 and counting...

We voted for Change! That is why the Palin/McCain LOST! The GOP along with Sara and Rush are just more of the same old Bush policies wearing hip hop clothing and a black face! No one will fall for this but the Republicans. It is ludicrous! Seriously! Palin will continue to posture and simper as long as the press will give her press time!

Wow...CNN...you libs are really threatened by Palin, HUH? I mean all the corruption that Obama, Biden, Pelosi and the rest of the liberal dem cronies are knee deep in...and you always manage to post on the TICKER...several insignificant articles about Palin, so they can draw further fire to discredit her....what a lame news agency you are.

Is it any wonder that Palin's husband would ignore the state senate when their only reaction is to scold him months later? Going forward, how does anyone take a "contempt" charge seriously if their are no real consequences?

The Palin's have always thought they were above the law, and here's another example that will allow them to continue to believe that (AND practice it).

Why are they so "special?" If a written statement was all that was wanted, then that is what would have been asked for. Their PRESENCE was requested, so they could be questioned face-to-face. They ducked the issue, and now again are trying to get off.

This is the type of stuff that really irks me about politicians and government. They seem to want to operate with a luxury set of rules, different than us common folks.

    It's total BS!
