Hannity and Obama to share a six pack?

Will Obama get a beer with Sean Hannity.

Will Obama get a beer with Sean Hannity.

(CNN) - They're the unlikeliest of drinking buddies: President Obama and one of his fiercest critics - Fox News host Sean Hannity.

But the two may just be getting closer to sharing a bottle or two– so long as Hannity is willing to foot the bill - according to White House spokesman Robert Gibbs.

"Get him a six pack of Budweiser and we'll meet Hannity anywhere he wants to go," said a laughing Gibbs, who also added the meeting should take place in public otherwise "nobody would believe it actually happened."

The comments come one day after the president was asked at a town hall in Indiana whether he would take up Hannity's open invitation to meet for a beer.

“I didn't know he had invited me for a beer, but I will take that under advisement…I'm always good for a beer." Obama said.

Hours later on his radio program, Hannity said he's pleased with the president's gesture.

"It seems like he's opened the door that he wants to meet with me," he told his listeners. "Now if he does, I would go on your behalf.”

    Give Him a break Matthew:

He's been in office less than a month and you thought he would wave a magic wand and be done. welcome to the real world, one created by excess and secrecy...Sound familiar and most important Sin. The problems we face are God -sized and it is only through prayer and guidance will things be turned around.

(Matthew, Detroit) – So are you saying that playing couch potato in the White House the last 8 yrs, while our economy tanks, our soldiers are sleeping on the dessert floor, American drown after a hurricane, is the thing to do. Republicans said to do nothing about our present economy, so our outgoing, energetic, and hardworking President got off his a.. to speak directly to the people that put him in power to "CHANGE" how the last guy was doing things, rather than hide behind the White House walls making terrible decisions! You must be a Republican; makes sense you would say something like that!

I think the President should meet with his critics...Only if all the Q & A's are NOT edited. Just a stright up dialogue, better yet live.

Matthew – You do realize the man has been in office for not even one month, right?

Glad to see this on CNN's homepage. With the sky falling everywhere we look, it's nice to see a little light news. Too bad Obama drinks Budweiser, though.

    Geez, Matthew of Detroit
The man has been president all of one month. Not much time in office to declare him a lousy president is it? And lazy? You clearly need some oxygen and or more fiber in your diet.

Funny how the critics find places to spew their hate... the fact is that even Hannity is pleasantly surprise with the president over this gesture... fine let them meet... the president is not afraid of any questions.. also I believe he is doing the right thing... I personally think that more tax cuts are not going to do the trick; I like the spendig measures and contrary to many I believe they will create millions of jobs... I do hope for more transparency and I hope that the bank initiatives the will be put in place spur more loans from the banks. as for Mr. Obama going out and talking to the American people "LORD BE PRAISED" this is what the president should be doing; he needs to educate the American people so that we know what his plan is and how to help... this is the job of every citizen to participate in the solution. Bill O'relly said last night that republicans don't want to be a part of any bill if it fails... great then may I suggest we get involved so that it does not... just waiting for the other side to fail is not only politics as usual but in the words of many republicans in the past "un-patriotic"; I guess they got Rush's memo...

I am happy that Barack wants to meet Sean Hannity. This is the way to go to Barack. You are a fresh guy and you need lot of listening and learning. Sean Hannity will have straight talk with you and I am sure you will change your liberal ways. This is very important to this country. You cannot shelter MoveOnOrg and Huffington Post (Imagine they could get a chance to ask you question last night.. What are they? Do you want to bring them in the mainstream media). I do not know how many times you will have have beer with Sean but I am sure he is going to sacrifice it for the sake our great country.

John McCane once said something like this
"if you get in a mud fight with a pig he may love it"
Mr. President Obama, take care and watch the mud, Sean Hannity has a load of it.

President Barack Obama has been in office for less than a month. It would be nice if people would give him an opportunity to begin to get his own ideas/programs working in Washington D.C. before throwing stones and making false statements .

It took EIGHT years to create this mess and it's going to take longer than a few weeks to get out of it!

are you two serious? Sean Hannity is a RADIO PERSONALITY- he's not elected to represent me or even steer me in any direction. Please, Please, please, start to think for yourself.

Why does the President give these right wing extrremists any kind of acknowledgment what so ever? When responding to a question about Hannity, Rush or other similar subhumans, the President should just say, "This person is an idiot and doesn't deserve the time of day, next question."

Hannity is a nut job. The last thing that my President needs to do is meet with this conspiracy crack pot.... oh... and did I mention Hannity is once known for palling around with White Supremacist's. Yes, in his early radio days he used to court a creep on his radio program. This would be before he got on with FOX. After getting a deal with FOX he had to throw his friend away because it would have gotten in the way of him advancing his career. That would be why he is so obsessed with a black man who endeavored to think he could be President and actually pulled it off. Sean Hannity is a nut and he is the kind of guy who would harm Barack, Michelle, Sasha and Malia if he could get up close on that family. Yeah... I hope Barack knows that this man is nuts.

Why would a white man obsess over black man? Strange.

SEAN HANNITY is a decent guy he doesn't say he doesn't like Obama he does like his spening plan and he doesn't like chris dodd or barney frank that much is clear. Go have beers together and see what comes of it.

While Hannity does present some conservative tax reduction as a method of creating jobs as opposed to social engineering, I think President Obama will diminish his stature as the President by meeting with him. Hannity takes it over the top too often and comes across as a conservative extremist sometimes... and Obama.... well he is no drama Obama. No need for Obama to bolster Hannity's viewership by giving him fodder for his show. If Hannity didn't bully people on his show so much, he'd have better credibility

Waste of time to meet with Hannity. I can't believe MaryJo suggested that Hannity "should be listened to by Obama".....ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Obama is NOT a conservative! You had your eight years and look where it got us.
If we are going this route...Obama should listen to ME!!!
