Hannity and Obama to share a six pack?

Will Obama get a beer with Sean Hannity.
Will Obama get a beer with Sean Hannity.

(CNN) - They're the unlikeliest of drinking buddies: President Obama and one of his fiercest critics - Fox News host Sean Hannity.

But the two may just be getting closer to sharing a bottle or two– so long as Hannity is willing to foot the bill - according to White House spokesman Robert Gibbs.

"Get him a six pack of Budweiser and we'll meet Hannity anywhere he wants to go," said a laughing Gibbs, who also added the meeting should take place in public otherwise "nobody would believe it actually happened."

The comments come one day after the president was asked at a town hall in Indiana whether he would take up Hannity's open invitation to meet for a beer.

“I didn't know he had invited me for a beer, but I will take that under advisement…I'm always good for a beer." Obama said.

Hours later on his radio program, Hannity said he's pleased with the president's gesture.

"It seems like he's opened the door that he wants to meet with me," he told his listeners. "Now if he does, I would go on your behalf.”

Hannity does not represent the party of Lincoln. he is just a hateful right wing ideologue, spouting nonesense for TV ratings.

I would love to see Pres. Obama rip Hannity apart in a debate over the economy. Love it.

Matthew, Detroit. You obviously have not watched the news at all. President Obama has done more in office in less than a month than most presidents do!

Hannity comes across as one you wouldn't want to have a beer with. He is probably the loudest at the bar, the one who boasts about money but leaves a $1.50 tip, and the one who gets his *** kicked by the end of the night. On second thought, Prez, you should go!

I almost feel sorry for Hannity. He is a mental midget compared to Barack Obama, and he would not be able to keep up in any meeting between those two men. Obama's a better person than I am if he would even consider meeting with that ignorant reactionary blowhard.

Oh–and I have to add this to "Matthew, Detroit"–ROFLMAO. That is about the silliest thing I have ever read here. He's been president for less than a month and has already signed many major executive orders and pieces of legislation. And here's a little tip: We have these things called computers and cell phones now. Obama can work anywhere.

Obama shouldn't meet with Hannity. That will just validate Hannity's existence on the Earth. Hannity needs no validation.

it's ok Mathew. we know, you can't beleive it. it's just hard to deal with isn't it? Barack shouldn't be geting this 76% appoval rating. he's been president for a whopping month! way more than enough time to fix the worst economic problem since the great depression. and i'm with you matthew, he's soooo lazy. soooo lazy that he put together his administration faster than any president before. sooooo lazy that he spends time and energy trying everything he can to UNITE washington to a level of bi-partisonship.

I think the meeting would be great, now the new president can meet one of the new leaders of the gop party. Now maybe Hannity can move a little to the center

I did not vote for our president and am not his biggest fan. But if he is willing to meet with one of his most fierce critics, he will gain some trust in my eyes. I think it would be very healthy for our current state of partisan bickering. I hope you do it Mr. President. There is 47 million of us that did not vote for you. You said that you want our support, this could be the first step.

If anything it would be very entertaining.

I would like to see a live interview with Hannity so that faux news couldn't go and edit President Obama's responses to fit their twisted agenda.

By the way "Dubya" would have never agreed to sit down with anyone that had an opposing view than his.

Just shows the level of integrity this man has, glad he's president and not other guy.

Hey, maybe someone could post it on Youtube, so we can see how much of an idiot Sean Hannity really is when he's less than sober.

Read the article, people. It stated clearly that Obama would have a drink with Hannity...if he paid. This means there is no taxpayer money involved. Jeez...always jumping the gun and getting accusatory/critical.

Oh yeah, and, Hannity is a joke.

MY GOD HAVE MERCY ON AMERICA... WHAT WOULD OUR FOUNDER FATHER WOULD SAID IF THEY WERE ALIVE TODAY TO SEE A PICTURE OF THE PRESIDENT ON THE UNITED STATE WITH A DEER IN HIS HAND... IT THIS THE FUTURE OF OR NATION, THE EXAMPLE WE ARE GIVING OUR CHILDREN. IT IS SAD TO SEE WHAT WE HAVE ALLOW TO BECOME. LOST OF VALUE, MORAL AND PRINCIPLES.

Jsu-tiger... did you not read the part where Obama's pre-condition was that Hannity has to pay?

I think this is excellent. Oh to be a fly on the wall at that pub...

  15. Change is coming!

Sean Hannity is not worthy of meeting with the President... I don't think our President should entertain him one little bit.

Cocktail parties, Super Bowl parties, and now this. I have no problem if Obama wants to have a drink now and then, but please keep the drinking private. It's unbecoming of a commander-in-chief.

I AM NOT ANYMORE OPTIMISTIC AFTER WATCHING B. OBAMA YESTERDAY. THE DAMAGE DONE TO OUR COUNTRY IS HUGE, VERY GIB BEYOND THE CAPABILITIES OF B. OBAMA AND HIS TEAM.
    B. OBAMA OLREADY IS MISGUIDED FROM HIS PROMISES.
ONE EYE CATCHING COMMENT. PRESIDENT BARAK OBAMA WAS UNABLE, UNABLE AND COULD NOT ANSWER, THE QUESTION ASKED BY THE VETERAN PRESS PERSONALITY, NAMELY HELEN THOMAS. THIS ALSO SHOWS THAT BARAK OBAMA IS ALREADY AND WILL BE A MISGUIDED PRESIDENT. DO YOU SEE ANY SIMILARITIES WITH PRESIDENT NUMBER 43 ?????????????????

Who is this? I wouldn't allow my fist to meet his face (even though that meeting needs to happen), let alone allow him to meet with our president. Who is he again?
