Obama answered questions from 13 reporters Monday night during the hour-long press conference.

WHITE HOUSE (CNN) – White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday that President Obama enjoyed his first prime time news conference Monday evening — and plans to stick with a campaign promise to hold them regularly in the future.

Obama answered questions from 13 reporters Monday night during the hour-long press conference.

Gibbs also confirmed that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi visited Obama at the White House Tuesday morning and formally invited Obama to speak before a joint session of Congress February 24, and the President accepted that invitation.

    Will those be choreographed too?

President Obama has always strived to keep the channels of communication open. He has already shown his willingness to meet with press corps members while travelling on Air Force One. He has already communicated with the nation this past Monday evening. He has already gone out to communities hard-hit by the economic downturn. He has reached out to both the House and Senate members. He has approached members of the Republican Party to better understand their ideas and to clarify his own. Now, he accepts to address a joint session of the House and Senate...And all this, within 3 weeks! What is there not to like about this man?

This is the very first transparent President of the USA. He will probably be one of the best one that the United States has ever had.

I am getting tired of hearing all the complaints about how Obama was so long winded at his first press conference. He was explaining very clearly, so there could be no mistake, that this is a major economic crisis we face and what his administration is doing to right the mistakes of the last eight years. I thought his mastery of the English language was a breath of fresh air over the previous administration which had a hard time putting two sentences together. As far as I am concerned, I could listen to him all day and not be put to sleep.

    Good!
We enjoy his press conferences and like hearing from him directly instead of the TALKING HEADS (those pundits that insert their opinions instead of those of Obama).
Obama is very busy, but, taking the time to speak directly to us is way better, and will benefit him greatly. ahe has a way of making his agenda easier to understand.

What a relief and wonderful news to finally have a President who keeps you informed and speaks at length in full sentences. And does not smirk like that other idiot, what's his name ?

We will see if he keeps this promise after breaking a few already. What's your favorite broken promise? I like hiring the lobbyist best so far.

WOW, a president that is not running the country into the ground, or hiding behind the Oval Office???? I dont know what to do with that. Making me even MORE speechless is that we FINALLY have a President that knows his @#$ from a hole in the ground, unlike the WORST President EVER...OH whats his name??? UM UM, oh yeah BUSH! GO OBAMA! The country is 72 MILLION strong behind you!

This moron enjoys any opportunity to put his mug on television. He's narcisstic and vane so why does the press continue to feed his ego?

The press confernce what not chorepgrahed, like the ones Bush, gave. Our President is a very intelligent person and can think when talking to reporters. As has been said recently Get Over It! You have a person that can run this nation and answer questions.

Great! I feel like singing the '88 Madonna song"Open your heart to me". Regardless, the GOPs will be standing or sitting in attention to grouch, gripe, and gibber, with all their might. I am yet to see a grinning or atleast a smiling GOP on TV.

Not choreographed, just better thought and more complete sentences than George Bush. and better command of the english language.. (you know.. the official language of US of A). halleluyah to having a president that understands the english language..

  16. BO... better than... well GWB

GWB choreographed his press conferences... anyone and everyone is welcome at a BO open forum.... Bush couldnt handle anyone who vaguely disagreed with him to ask him a question... he would get too confused.

BO the director, no need for choreography. My president speaks from the heart and is very smart. It will be refreshing to watch every press conference.

Keep up the good work Mr. Obama. I'm sure even the hateful republicans were impressed with your first national press conference. The better you do, the more the republicans spew their evil and are EXPOSED even further for their fraudulent agendas.

    When is the first one?

What I heard last night was not a press conference. Biden has been criticized for being long winded. Obama puts him to shame. 10 minute answer on the first question. Even my 12 year old daughter asked what question he was answering.

I have to agree with you on that. In addition, it was nice to have a President who speaks English and knows how to pronounce words correctly. .

OUR PRESIDENT is only doing what he said he was going to do!!
It is a complete breath of fresh air, with candid, and understandable answers to questions, instead of the usual political double speak that leaves you wondering what the heck was said!!

OMG!! I can't believe this man's ego....he just likes to see himself on TV. As long as he doesn't interrupt my good TV shows, that is fine. Better yet, have them in the daytime instead of prime time to prevent that very thing from happening. I can't stand to look at him, much less hear him, and can hardly stand to hear the words "President" and Obama together. God help us all!!!
