Palin will not be attending this year’s CPAC, confirm organizers.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin will not be attending the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington later this month, her office confirmed to CNN Tuesday.

The Alaska governor had been expected to serve as the headline attraction at the three day event, which is also scheduled to include conservative icons like Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter. The presidential straw poll conducted at the annual Washington gathering is widely viewed as a reliable bellwether of conservative support. Several of the GOP’s past - and potentially future - presidential hopefuls are also slated to address the gathering, including Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.

Palin spokesman Bill McAllister did not give a reason for the governor's decision, but did agree with one organizer's explanation that it would be difficult for the governor to visit in the middle of the state’s legislative session.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate, who recently launched SarahPAC to assist conservative candidates and cultivate a national network of supporters, visited Washington late last month to attend the exclusive Alfalfa Club dinner and several private events.

Yeah - kinda boggles the imagination when it come to the intelligence level of Liberals, doesn't it ! And kinda makes you wonder what they think when they stuff their gut with that Big Mac!

Cathy, Peoria AZ   February 10th, 2009 7:29 pm ET

Gov. Palin is neither moral or intelligent. She displays her Christian values when it suits her. Let us remember her hate filled speeches, "pallin around with terrorists" and now is lining up, like the other 49 Govenor's wanting part of the stimulus package. It's now suddenly ok to approach President Obama! She is a hypocrite!
This country does not need the likes of Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, etc. etc. etc. – divisive and hateful.
We need a bi-partisianship effort to solve the problems and until everyone agrees that the issues are bigger than their egos, we will continue the down hill slide. Wake up America!

Rachel in Nebraska   February 10th, 2009 7:29 pm ET

I have to laugh at whomever said Alaska isn't in the red. They are off budget by billions and have to dive into their savings. That is because the budget was based on Sarah's wrong numbers......

Cheryl, you make a contradiction. You state we need to discuss facts, not hurtful words. You try to play the 'shame on you' card by saying she is a Daughter, Wife, Mother, etc.....

But truthful words are: She is a bad wife, a bad mother, a bad elected official (abuse of power) and a bad person (racist, she looks good in the white hood though). She's anti american as is her husband and his 'let's leave america' group affiliation.

Sorry if the truth hurts, but unfortunately, when we talk the truth about Palin, only hurtful words apply, but not in the spirit of being hurtful, simply facts.

And we should care? Some how some way these extreme conservative personalities need to realize that no one... except the white sheet/cone hat crowd really gives a flip what they think or want! Some how they have this ridulous attitude that they are still realitive!

Go away Rush, Newt, Ann, and all the other pitifully delusional freak show... actually side show... :) you are a three ring circus... and no one really cares anymore.... well, maybe SNL... pretty good fodder for them.... *LOL*

Professional liberal blogger alert!
If the name "Palin" is in the article, they're here and ready to collect their check (part of the stimulus bill).

I like Sarah Palin; she reminds me why I'm not Pro-Choice, but Pro-Abortion...

Conqui   February 10th, 2009 7:24 pm ET

The less we hear about Sarah the better. She's just another neocon, except she's also a few cups short of a tea set. Look where this ideology, without regard to reality, has gotten us; and they want to dig us in deeper! Go away, and read each others' books, and leave real Americans alone.

DB   February 10th, 2009 7:23 pm ET

May God give all the red state morons all that they wish on everyone else. I think that will make the world a better place. God knows what horrible things they come up with.
They would rather nation build Iraq than build American. 3 Trillion in nation building Iraq and the stimulus is too big, talk about anti American, buy American to rebuild the roads no way the red morons like free trade. How did they hijack patriotism??? They are the real un- Americans and retarded to boot.

Jackie   February 10th, 2009 7:23 pm ET

We are doomed...just listen to yourselves (Palin haters)...and she never did anything to anyone of you. And you wonder why we will never come together. And by the way...I would love to have given her a chance to be VP...just as I have no problem with O'bama being President with no experience and Joe Biden...(a tongue and cheek kind of guy) being VP.

Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter.

Who is the DJ,
Lawrence Welk

Joe Terrogano   February 10th, 2009 7:23 pm ET

She is not going because she will get lost among those who are going. The novelty is wearing off and her appeal is among that narrow band of Republicans that are based in the South and rural areas. As a national candidate she has no broad appeal. Too bad, because she belongs next to Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter, except that they have the conservative rap down pat, and she does not.

suhoo   February 10th, 2009 7:23 pm ET

Fair opinion for Sarah Palin form DEM:

I used to think Sarah Palin was dumb. But after her debating the skillful debator Joe B., I CHANGED MY MIND about her immediately. I thought she learnt so quick and so brilliant. Too sad the MSM trashed her (yet she was so gracious.)

I am not sure about her political future, but I do think she will accomplish a lot if given a chance. She has experience in governing. BTW, she is good at campaigning too. I like see her in the campaign trail. I never pay attention to any REP. candidate. I changed when Sarah Palin was on the stage.

I will not vote for HIM AGAIN, that's for sure.

Deb   February 10th, 2009 7:21 pm ET

Let's see – Gingrich is a serial adulterer. Limbaugh is a drug addict. Coulter is being investigated for voter fraud.

I just don't understand why she would not want to "pal around" with that group

BigDaddyTod   February 10th, 2009 7:21 pm ET

Your mama   February 10th, 2009 7:21 pm ET

Gathering of the KKK, ah, what a bright new vision for the future of the Republicans. Who wouldn't want Rush and Coulter representing them, they are the voice of inclusion after all. Maybe Sarah isn't going because she finally realizes these people are whack jobs and won't help anyone win.

Wedge   February 10th, 2009 7:20 pm ET

So, Macie, Having read your post, I think I understand why you think Palin is awesome. By the way, it is hatemongers, not hate mongrels.

A hate monger is one who incites others to hatred or prejudice.
Hatemongrels is not in the dictionary.
A mongrel is an individual resulting from the interbreeding of diverse breeds or strains.

I'm thinking Palin was one or the other during the campaign.
Ditto Obama, and by his own words. Gotta luv him.

If politics weren't so nasty, maybe you'd find more decent people running for office. Everyone has something, somewhere that they have not been proud of. What is important is that we recognize what would make a person want to be humiliated enough to try. Personal attacks are counterproductive and usually mean that the person making them is hurting and has a problem in the area of their own self-esteem. Why do we attack someone for just being human? Would we want someone that isn't human to make desicions for us?
Ask yourself, How would someone who is perfect view you?

Mari   February 10th, 2009 7:08 pm ET

@ RAY....... please get a grip. Palin is an idiot, whose 5 minutes of fame were up several months ago.

She is a mean-spirited, divisive, hate-fear-monger. She spewed hate and lies in the last few months of the campaign.

For so-called Christian woman, Palin seemed to have forgotten one of the Ten Commandments, "DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS....." Insinuating that Obama was a "terrorist" and inciting her "crowds" anger and hate is just plain UNChristian!

Palin for president? Hell NO!

Hey Mark in FL – so Sarah Palin was able to balance a budget of a couple of billion? Big deal! Please don't insult Californians by saying that Palin could run our state. It's much too close to a real executive job for her.

And yes, we're seriously in the red. But mostly because we have jobs that people want and places where people want to live, so our budget feels it when income and property tax revenue drops. Can't say as much for Alaska.

Vegas Barbie the Paralegal for Obama   February 10th, 2009 6:57 pm ET

I wonder how she handles the fact that Michael Steele is now the RNC Chair. After all her vitriolic hate-speech directed at now-Pres. Obama during the hate rallies that campaign events she spoke at turned into...must really get under her skin that a dignified, very intelligent African American man is now the Chair of her party. Must get under her skin, redneck racist bigot that she is. Perhaps we should call her and those like her "small-its"–cause there's nothin' big about 'em.

She's a neo-conservative. McCain's slogan was "Country First", Palin's is "God First". I don't want this country to turn into Israel. Seperation of Church and State. Against abortions, against gay marriage. She's the person that would benefit from joining the Constitution Party (A 3rd party with far-right views, basically the counterpart of Socialism)

She's pro-life yet she thinks shooting animals from a plane is fine. What a hypocritical b**ch. She has no resentments about taking others' rights away, but when it's her and her husbands, she gets offended. She and MANN Coulter should get hitched.

Tom in Alaska   February 10th, 2009 6:42 pm ET

As an Alaskan any of you who want her can have her. It goes both ways alot of stuff you here about her is and isn't true. One thing about her is her rise to power. She did it by stabbing people in her way in the back. She didn't need to do that because any of us with a brain already new what was going on. Think what you want about her people either way. All I know is i'll always vote against her and never believe a word she says.

What a relief! I wish she would go hide under a rock for about five years. What a pain Palin has been! I wish that John McCain had not brought her into the spotlight.

Simon   February 10th, 2009 6:40 pm ET

Maggie, it would help if you learned to spell. There is no such word as "dificient". It's deficient. Your posting contains other spelling errors as well as some syntactical mistakes. You cannot write English and are clearly as uneducated as Palin. She can't spell or construct a coherent and grammatically correct sentence either – and you want THAT level of intelligence in the White House!!! I certainly don't.

Allen, Hartwell GA   February 10th, 2009 6:39 pm ET

I tried, but you censored it.

Norcal DM   February 10th, 2009 6:39 pm ET

To Matthew from Detroit:

It is apparent that your distaste for Obama goes past his policies. You use very sterotypical language that could make many feel as though you dislike our current president is because he is Black. Using terms like lazy can help to reduce your credibility and integrity, which at this point is next to nothing. Please go crawl back to the hell hole you came from unless you can produce constructive comments that have something to do with our current presidents policies. He is making every effort to bring the American people into the discussion, something W never did. He is trying to make sure everyone know the severity of the problem and explain that his solution is better than no solution at all.

thomas   February 10th, 2009 6:39 pm ET

CNN, please stop parading this woman around in front of us. This piece is about something she is not going to do. That is not news. That's like reporting that it's not going to rain in the desert.

Mike in San Antonio   February 10th, 2009 6:38 pm ET

I wonder what it must be like in the liberal world where all you have to do is mention the name "Palin" or "Limbaugh" and people start to form at the mouth in hate, fear, and loathing. Hell, I don't even feel that way about Hillary!

Kimberly   February 10th, 2009 6:38 pm ET

Any party that considers ann coulter anything more than a racist scum PIG is NOT an American party. The republicans seem to act as though they can not figure out WHY the American people CRUSHED them in the last election, well guys FYI its because you embrace such slime as coulter and limbaugh. The American people have spoken really loudly, those kind of jokes of people are NOT welcome in our country, and as long as you right wing NUTS support them, you will NEVER EVER be back in power. Its SICK that people actually still think like those two scums of the earth!

Can CNN be done with Sarah Palin? She is so yesterday's barbie. Time to move on CNN. Stop propping up a dead horse.

Jodie   February 10th, 2009 6:30 pm ET

Check the stories that come out regarding the AG that just 'resigned' – I'll wager he was forced out. Too much negative being printed about him which reflected on her administration and would show a negative on the national scene. The AG gave his soul to her and Todd during the Troopergate Investigation....she cuts folks very easily to whom she has no more need. I can hardly wait for her to fade from the Alaska scene...she is bringing herself and our State nothing but negative thought throughout our nation. Stay home in Wasilla, Sarah, and govern for the rest of your term in good faith, honesty and ethical behavior.

Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter??? These are the leading Conservative lights???? Good luck with that. These people are far outside the mainstream. Coulter is a psychotic fascist. Limbaugh is drug addled.

Marc K   February 10th, 2009 6:28 pm ET

Amazing the response Palin gets from these kool-aid drinkers. They must really be scared of her to take the time and spew such anonymous hate-filled crap.

So much for the one-America The Chosen One preaches about!

Sure, knock the McCain backers who were acting like fools, but you hypocrites are even worse!

As a DEM who backed McCain, the truth about Palin needs to be spoken.

She is a true reformer.

He has a solid record and experience in governing.

So she wanted to fire her former Bro-in-law for beating her sister up. Big deal! At least she's not a tax scofflaw like several appointees to TCO's administration.

The only reason Palin is slammed so hard by the neo-libs is because she is not Pro-Choice. So what, that is her belief, and it is not wrong, just like the Pro-Choice people are not wrong.

Maybe if some of you ignarant sheep would read creditable sources instead of rumor mills and forums to get your info, you would be better informed.

Knock it off already!

jjeffries   February 10th, 2009 6:27 pm ET

Who cares about this? Why is this even newsworthy???

Angela Sandri   February 10th, 2009 6:26 pm ET

Always, always, always. If there is a peep in the news about Sarah Palin, CNN puts it on top of the news of the day. The lead item. What is it with you folks? The country is in financial free fall. The President is out talking to the people in Florida . The treasury secretary puts out his plan and all you can talk about is this media hungry woman who looks good and sings the Republican song. The news about her should be at BOTTOM of your news list on this blog. No, you have it on top as if we cared where she goes or what she is saying or doing. Its just another reason for you to show your weakness in the political news division. The "best team in TV?" Thats an absolute laugh. If you were the best, you would be covering the real news.

A CANUCK   February 10th, 2009 6:25 pm ET

"with one organizer's explanation that it would be difficult for the governor to visit in the middle of the state’s legislative session."

Being in the middle of the state’s legislative session sure didn't stop her from going to Washington DC last year with a publicist to put her name in play for the VP slot.

Just another Palin lie.

Someone actually said Palin doesn't do hate talk? Are you serious? Did you not see her giving speeches during the campaign and all the mean nasty stuff she said?? Honey, I am from the South and I know just because you say mean, spiteful stuff with a smile, doesn't make it less mean or less hateful or less spiteful.

I have no idea why anyone with even a small amount of intelligence would support Palin. The comment by Maggie must have been written in a drunken stupor. Palin doesn't even understand tough/difficult concepts. She is a gimmick, with no substance to speak of. Big Mac gambled on her and he crapped out. She is clearly delusional if she really thinks she will even be a top ten contender for President in 2012 (or ever)! Her and her husband should go with their original plan to help Alaska Secede from the United States! Oh that’s right, she never had to answer to why her hubby was part of an organization that supported that concept.

Matthew, Detroit   February 10th, 2009 6:20 pm ET

I love all the hysterical women who are all for partial birth abortions but are worried about wolves. Does not really make sense. You lost your values and you lost your minds.

Governor Palin is a very good administrator and has a lot more experience running things. Barack can not even run his own household. His wife is in charge at home.

But wow what a great campaigner.

Rick   February 10th, 2009 6:20 pm ET

Too bad she is not the president instead of Obumbler.

Oh Dear,
Sarah is missing a photo-shoot
Maybe she has nothing to wear
If her daughter hadn't taken a root
Palin might not be in such despair
Personnally, I think a size 12 boot
Would look & fit nicely up Sarah's rear
If only her horn she wouldn't toot
Her politics wouldn't give us a scare
A role she should play is that of a muet
And with luck she will become lunch for a bear

Great comment........I am sure she will be pulling in the most PORK she can......she is the Queen of PORK per person per any state any where !

Beverly, NYC   February 10th, 2009 6:18 pm ET

Maggie February 10th, 2009 5:37 pm ET: Thanks for the laugh hon, you madame have a very loose definition of family values and morals, to think that Sarah Palin has either of these attributes. Get thee a dictionary or google those terms again and see if any of them applies to Gov. Palin.

Tim   February 10th, 2009 6:18 pm ET

Palin was in way over her head when McCain picked her. But she couldn't see that because her incompetence is coupled with an enormous dose of arrogance. McCain was obviously looking for a running mate he thought could help him win the election and not someone who was qualified to help him run the country. Nothing against Alaska but the demands of running that state aren't as strict as most others. I'm sure, everything else being the same (Palin's education, experience/resume), she couldn't have reached the Governor's mansion in any other state. She's great at theater though. She can really deliver a speech written by someone else. The only thing "she proved to all America" is Maggie, is that she isn't very smart, can't speak on her own or think on her feet and used her position inappropriately.

21st Century Patriot   February 10th, 2009 6:18 pm ET

When House Republicans planned their annual winter retreat, they extended an invitation to Alaska Gov. Sara Palin, hoping the party's 2008 vice presidential nominee would give a morale-building speech to the more than 130 Republican members of Congress gathered this weekend in Hot Springs, Va.

Retreat organizers tell ABC News that Palin politely declined, giving a perfectly understandable reason. According to the Congressional Institute, which hosted the conference, Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.

So where is Palin this weekend? She's in Washington, D.C., attending the super-elite Alfalfa Dinner.

"She lied to us," said a Republican at the retreat.

Mike Dallas   February 10th, 2009 6:14 pm ET

Her sucking up to the real head of the RNC will definitely leave lipstick on a pig...

Alicia   February 10th, 2009 6:14 pm ET

@ Matthews......you probably don't need a job or home do throw in your chant. LOL

I think she is starting to figure out that she is out of her league. She was not recognized by the President and stopped by Liebermann, whom I believe told her to stand down when she was in DC. She is so fickle to think she called the man a terrorist and would think he wanted to see her winking away. What a moron!

Maybe, just maybe, she is helping those poor starving and freezing Indians in Alaska.

Concerned & Proud American   February 10th, 2009 6:13 pm ET

I am sick of all of you left wing liberals who think your opinion is the only opinion. It is the USA and we are all entitled to our opinion on who we vote for and who we support. We should be using facts not hurting words. That is not bringing us together. Sarah Palin is someone's daughter, someone's wife, someone's mother and someone's sister. And she is an elected official. How would you like someone talking about your daughte r, wife, mother, sister or governor the way some of you throw around your garbage. Shame on you!

Palin Was, IS and always WILL be a national joke. She raises children that have children with druggies and she is convicted of ethical violations.

I suggest you set your standards for your idols a bit higher. I wouldn't let her raise my children or my dog (they would end up pregnant before they hit puberty if I did), let alone run my country, state, city, or even a lemonade stand. Attention Palin Supporters:
Get ready for a lot of this kind of activity from Palin. She's going to be backing out of quite a few things now that she's proven her idiocy and become famous (read: a crowd-drawer for all the wrong reasons). We'd love to hear about her recently read newspapers, but, again, we all know too well how she'll answer this one........it's now sooooo played...............anyway, the only draw to watch her speak is to relive the old Bushism's that have become known now as Palinism's.........Grizzly Mama need some good ole fashioned ed-U-ma-K-shun! Even that comment made her sound like a hick- idiot (and I know hicks who don't even speak like that!).

Concerned & Proud American   February 10th, 2009 6:01 pm ET

Let her stay up north...we don't want her down here in the lower 48... we are too civilized for her moose eating, wolf killing, barbaric life style... what century are you living in Sarah?? I mean come on, it's not like she can't afford to buy a piece of meat... get with it Sarah... oh, by the way while you're bringing yourself in touch with the 21st century with your shopping trips to Neiman Marcus on tax payers money...GET A NEW HAIR STYLE "Flo"...cause your "do" went out in the 70's with the "Alice" sitcom!!!

A.M.   February 10th, 2009 6:00 pm ET

Coulter and Limbaugh are a 10. Yes, Coulter is a 1 (as in stick thin), and Limbaugh is a 0 (as in fat and worthless).

Humored In Texas   February 10th, 2009 6:00 pm ET

Personal to Maggie and her comment on Palin's family values and high morals.

Her pregnant, teenage, unmarried daughter learned those morals where?!?!

Sarah belongs to a seccesionist group, which of course is very American and full of family values. too!!!

TT NY   February 10th, 2009 6:00 pm ET

She found out that she cannot bring her kids to the hotel in DC with taxpayers' money.... thats why she doesnt want to go :)

george, cali   February 10th, 2009 6:00 pm ET

Who cares....the GOP really needs to start evaluating what their priorities are. The current economic crisis or the conservative base. Wake up, you lost your base isn't going anywhere. Start working with the Dems so America knows you care...idiots...

Lush Limprick, the real RNC Chairman!   February 10th, 2009 6:00 pm ET

Palin spokesman Bill McAllister did not give a reason for the governor's decision, but did agree with one organizer's explanation "that it would be difficult for the governor to visit in the middle of the state’s legislative session"

Oh please, as if that has stopped her from jetting around the 48. She has not spent any time on her "day job" since she was tapped for VP.

Besides, the twit needs to suck up to Lush and Newt, altho, fireworks could spark between her and Annie.

Coulter/Palin 2012

Bob in Baltimore   February 10th, 2009 5:59 pm ET

A great sequal to Showtimes United States of Tara would be the United States of Sarah....Palin is the real deal when it comes to scitzoids!

Will R   February 10th, 2009 5:59 pm ET

Palin's not going because she doesn't have a chance of winning that beauty contest and she's tired of coming in second all the time.

Even if she got some rich organization to pay for her make-up and wardrobe, she'd still lose. Those old guys who really run things at CPAC like Rush too much. With all that baby fat, Limbaugh is just soooo cute when he jiggles.

A.M.   February 10th, 2009 5:59 pm ET

Not too smart, period!!!!!

Has/will anyone investigate the real reason why her son joined the Armed Forces? Was it because a judge gave him the a choice between that and jail? And what about Bristol? I understand that she was kicked out of high school for being a troublemaker. Anyone know anything?

Rhiannonrede   February 10th, 2009 5:58 pm ET

The self promotion and self aggrandizement payoff must not be high enough for her to show up which is kind of funny cause it isn't keeping the Huckster at home.

allie   February 10th, 2009 5:58 pm ET

Come on, let's be civil. I would love to see any of those who have written stand up and be counted for their beliefs. Maybe she does not want to be on the same podium as Limbaugh, Coulter and Hannity. If so, I will change my opinion of her from one who simply got overwhelmed by all the attention and dove into where she was not ready to swim, to one who is measuring her choices and carefully choosing her advocates. I hope that is true as she seems like a nice person who wants the best for her State and her Country.

TjayeInLA   February 10th, 2009 5:58 pm ET

Maybe she realized she'd make better headlines by NOT going than she would if she'd gone and opened mouth to speak.

Why is this news? Why is she news? I just don't understand the mentality of the media. There is plenty to report on of resounding importance to our nation and yet we are still hearing about the every move of this "also ran" looser. Give me a break!

Jackie in Dallas   February 10th, 2009 5:57 pm ET

Yes, Peggy, a real Christian is a real Christian every day. They obey the words of Christ who said "love one another as I have loved you." They obey the words of Christ who said "judge not that you be not judged." It would mean loving the sinner, while hating the sin, not just hating.

None of these things are things that Sarah Palin has done. She bore false witness at her rallies. She encouraged hate and discord. She judged others by the color of their skin, or by whether they lived in the "real America". She lied, and then told every one she didn't. She preached abstinence after becoming pregnant before marriage, and then displayed her unmarried, pregnant daughter on the platform with her. Oh, and not to mention, she used McCain and the Republican Party for her own ends.

She doesn't practice Christianity, she just plays one on TV. A true Christian accepts others - Christ protected an adulterer from being stoned, sat down and ate with the ritually unclean like prostitutes and tax collectors, and turned on the coin changers in the temple and said you have made my Father's house into a counting-house. A true Christian realizes that God made the world and the creatures therein, and each has a place in it - and doesn't declare a helicopter slaughter on animals. A true Christian realizes that to be a Christian is not to exclude those who are not perfect, because none of us are perfect, but to include all and let God be the judge.

pete   February 10th, 2009 5:57 pm ET

I am a loser like the rest of you. Everytime you enter a comment asking CNN to stop reporting on Palin, they will only give you more. Like all sites, they count the clicks on a page. The more clicks, the higher the advertising rate. If you want them to stop, dont even click on it.

PS, I find it humourous that the only Pro Palin remarks here are from Texas. What we should do is take the first promary away from NH and give it to TX. Whoever wins would immediately be stripped of citezenship and forced to live in TX..or we should have the EPA sample the water to see why they are all so stupid...Oh Right, Dubya pretty much shut them down for his buds in the oil biz

Gordo   February 10th, 2009 5:56 pm ET

No, Maggie, Sarah Palin is above nobody. I have met her type many, many times: shallow, arrogant, never admitting mistakes, vicious in attacking those who disagree. Palin says she reads all the news publications then can't name one of them. She tells a kid what the VP does and gets it wrong - while running for that office. Now please tell me you can seriously imagine her sitting across the table from Vladimir Putin, and kindly don't say something like she'd wipe the floor with him, for he has political street smarts she doesn't even know exist, and he would make instant mincemeat out of her. It's summed up rather nicely by one of her supporters, a state government official, I believe, who replied to a statement that Palin doesn't know anything approaching what one must in order to go after high office: he said that maybe it would be good to have someone in office who is ignorant of those duties. Yes, and I want the next pilot whose plane I get on to be a third-month trainee, don't you?

George of Lincoln   February 10th, 2009 5:56 pm ET

The news media did not trash her, she managed to trash herself by her lack of awareness and inability to answer the most basic questions like what do you read.

Perhaps being photographed with Rush, Newt, and Ann made her realize that THAT picture would resurface in three years when she announces that she is the panacea for America if we only give up stem cell research, abortions, any kind of ecological preservation and go the Palin-way and drill everywhere, destroy everything, and supress everyone......all for those tax cuts for the wealthy.

Her AGAIN!?!?!?!?! I am sick and tired of CNN and every other news agency reporting about this airheaded bimbo. Seems like every time I turn on CNN or come to CNN.com, it's always something about the "Airhead from Alaska."

"BREAKING NEWS!!!!

Gov. Sarah Palin just coughed. These reports are probably nothing but the governor could also be suffering from the common cold or quite possibly some other horrible disease. More details every six minutes."

Get a clue. America didn't want her and Johnny Boy so please find something else to report on OTHER than Gov. Palin. Heck, a cat stuck in a tree is more interesting than her.

Al Mellen   February 10th, 2009 5:52 pm ET

The good governor should have been in washington when President Clinton was in office. I will stop right there. Leave my comment to your own imagination.

Allen, Hartwell GA   February 10th, 2009 5:51 pm ET

Back when Reagan was running for president he said (more-or-less) that government was the problem, not the solution. Ever since then Republicans have been hell-bent to prove him right. The 10 years that Republicans were in charge of Congress were bad enough by themselves, but the period from Jan. 20, 2001 until Jan. 1 2006 nearly destroyed this country. We still are suffering from the effects of having government haters run the government. If we could get all the government haters in one place at one time this might be justification for first strike.

Barbara in Boston   February 10th, 2009 5:51 pm ET

Wow. Sarah's keeping it on the down low? She must have a new political advisor who's talking sense to her - and she's listening??? Or maybe this has something to do with the fact that last week her husband and aides were found in contempt on Trooper-Gate.

Nah, couldn't be.

Colin   February 10th, 2009 5:51 pm ET

You have got to be kidding me. Do you people actually listen to yourselves at all? I read in one comment about "the Republicans who do nothing but stir up hate and divisiveness". Are you kidding me with this? Why don't you all take 15 minutes and read through every last comment on this page. Then tell me where the hate and divisiveness lies. This woman has done nothing to you personally and she is no longer in the picture and you insist on bashing her and dragging her name through the mud every time you hear her name.

GET OVER IT ALREADY!

Ron Paul   February 10th, 2009 5:51 pm ET

Wow, I've just got done reading about quite a bit of everything Ron Paul has been writing about in the past decades and boy, this guy knows what he's talking about! No wonder everyone I seem to know is talking about the guy in so much details. It's no wonder why the U.S. have been plagued with puppeteers at the helm for so long.

Maggie, let me be the first to tell you that Sarah Palin was deficient in many ways: common sense, intelligence... I will admit that she excelled in living in denial and having delusions of grandeur.

Denise   February 10th, 2009 5:46 pm ET

What a sad state of affairs that these wingnut hypocrites are the "icons" of anything. Rush Limbaugh is a wart on society. Ann Coulter is a pathetic hatemonger and Sarah the Liar should stay in Alaska and deal with all her ethics violations.

I hear her constituents ae sick and tired of her campaigning for President when her State is suffering.

JacklynD   February 10th, 2009 5:46 pm ET

I wouldn't want to appear with Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh either. That would be as bad as her visit to the turkey farm.

Floosiemagoo   February 10th, 2009 5:46 pm ET

Cobra,

Get it right, Kool Aid, begins with a "K" not a "c," and of course, it's a proper noun. The way you wrote it refers to the noun as in "cool" person, one of happening awesomeness; and yes, we all drink our own version of Kool Aid; and some of us are cool.

So enjoy yours; as I do mine.

Dan   February 10th, 2009 5:46 pm ET

This is news? News is that people in Fort Myers wants Obama to buy them a car, a kitchen, and have McDonald's provide better benefits for working college graduates. Now where are the details of that insightful story? The Palin haters can worry about her in a few years. Oh, that's not good enough since you need your daily Palin updates to feed on, and spew your bitter hatred of her about. Do you live to hate?

Government is too big... he wants to grow it.

Congress spends too much... he promises more. Taxes are too high... he wants to raise them.

His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific.

The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes... raise payroll taxes... raise investment income taxes... raise the death tax... raise business taxes... and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars.

You zombies were warned. How is that change working out for you.

Once you begin a great movement there is no telling where it will end -

Peggy, you are absolutely correct in that you have just as much right to free speech as anyone else on this site. But I have some bad news...prepare yourself...not all of us are Christians. Take a deep breath now, I know it's shocking. So it follows that if not all of us are Christians, then we probably aren't forming our opinions or making decisions based on whether Sarah is a "good Christian". In fact, some of us might argue that she doesn't look much like a good Christian at all.

Frank, Las Vegas and all the rest of you so called males or at least your names indicate that. I am wondering if Frank's name is Frankie and perhaps Gov. Palin is intimidating to your feminity. Palin is soooooooooo much above all of you guys and dolls that you are finding it difficult to really understand her views. Perhaps it is that you do not have any views and do not know what it means. She has proven to all America that she is not afraid to tackle hard problems, she is not a greedy politician. dresses very appropriately to all except the hollywood and hollywood would be's lefties and liberals. She gets the job done. If she is dificient in any area she works hard to overcome the obstacles, mostly the media especially CNN writers. She stands up for family values and has high morasl.

Angela The Great Northwest   February 10th, 2009 5:37 pm ET

You must take every opportunity to spout your wisdom at every possible venue. Why aren't you on "Dancing With The Stars?"

I love you, Sarah! You're beautiful, you're sexy, you're bright (enough to ascend to the top of Alaska politics) and you will guarantee a long era of Democratic rule.

I'm a total Obama man, but I love Sarah because she shows the world how brilliant and wise he is.

Dan   February 10th, 2009 5:28 pm ET

Brandon please don't comment on Alaska Politics because you clearly don't know what's going on in alaska. We have a pretty good idea why palin won't be traveling down to the lower 48...Republicans and democrats who have governorship election aspirations have been attacking her at every corner.

I know this comment section is filled with a bunch of mindless liberals but I just wanted to clear some things up.

You may now continue with your usually insults about the Governor...

OMGZ sara is an idiot.... How did I do? It's 4th grade all over again.!

Wayne, Greenville TX   February 10th, 2009 5:28 pm ET

It's the biggest gathering of idiots since the RepubliKKKan Convention last summer.....

southerncousin   February 10th, 2009 5:27 pm ET

Soccer Nana@The way you make these people sound, they should be inviting Charlie Rangle, William Jefferson, Tim Geithner and Tom Daschle to their meeting too. Maybe throw in Dan Rostenkowski (well known Chicago sleazeball), Blago (another Chicago sleazeball) Harold Ford Sr. (Memphis sleazeball), and the biggest sleaze ball of all Bill Clinton.

Leah DiMarco, Texas   February 10th, 2009 5:27 pm ET

I pray every day that the GOP will put Palin up as their 2012 presidential candidate...
then President Obama will win by a huge landslide and all of the USA will turn BLUE ;)

Obama 2012

kelvin   February 10th, 2009 5:27 pm ET

The jug eared clueless boy wonder won. Why are you liberals so afraid of Palin?
Could it be cover for the complete and utter ineptitude and weakness that Obama exudes?
Buyers remorse, for sure.

KFR   February 10th, 2009 5:26 pm ET

Sara go home and stay home, I do not know what you are up to and do not care. I knew you would manage to get you name in the media again, what has it been not quite one week. You do not have my vote or the votes of my family or friends.

person   February 10th, 2009 5:26 pm ET

this is the first normal sane thing that Palin has done. I guess a conservative meeting is the same as a bunch of racists meeting.

Angela The Great Northwest   February 10th, 2009 5:26 pm ET

Well well... she actually does have a piece of a brain in her head.... look at that line up,Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter. She actually figured out that this was a air head meeting and bowed out...

Tim   February 10th, 2009 5:26 pm ET

I'm more concerned about the case of losers in attendance than the one who will not attend. I wonder if Davis Duke got and invite???

she is hot, but will she be in 2012?   February 10th, 2009 5:25 pm ET

you said: "I can't believe there aren't millions of Christians coming to her aid when she is trashed my the likes of Katie Couric andher cronies."

Believe it sister, this Palin is dumb as a rock and myself and fellow Christians aren't about to support a sinking rock. Katie did not trash her, she was already trash

"Other than not being used to the bullying and ambushing of our so called media, just exactly what has she done that is so terrible?"

you mean you haven't been paying attention to her actions and hate speech – "paling around with terrorists" etc., this woman has no clue

"She is a very intelligent and caring woman."

what planet are you from, caring for what? shooting animals from a helicopter?

"She calls a spade a spade."

who is she calling a spade, that is racist

"If we want to save our country my fellow Christians, we had better become more vocal about God and quit hiding in churches while our country continues on it's way to hell. "

the last eight years that brought down the world economy were directect by your fellow christians, torture, spying on Americans, calling anyone that didn't agree with you un-patriotic

I hope we are nicer to you than you were to us

the last 8 years were a nightmare

karen   February 10th, 2009 5:25 pm ET

Maybe she started reading and decided there were better things
she could try. Like shooting small, helpless animals.

Gail White   February 10th, 2009 5:25 pm ET

I repeat my email message of Jan. 31: Go back to Wasilla and take care of your business, Palin! This is not a beauty pageant, Honey!
2/10/09: You are barely qualified to be governor and will NEVER be qualifed for a national office. Learn to read and comprehend, speak coherently, and give serious thought to your role as mother. Your egocentricity is showing (get a dictionary) – very tacky!

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong...somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises...I saw after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started...And an enormous debt to boot!" – Henry Morgenthau, Jr.

Could it be sarah palin has seen the light of her losing party, However my guess she got a peek at that guest list and said hell NO!.

Stephanie in California   February 10th, 2009 5:21 pm ET

I hate Palin as much as the next hippie liberal but seriously? Even I'm sick of bashing Palin. It was fun when some people still held an oz of respect for her but now? It's a moot point.

bethi in alaska   February 10th, 2009 5:21 pm ET

Really who cares– and YES, "Peggy"- she sure touts herself as a Christian–and while even that may be debatable – one thing is for SURE- an intellectual SHE IS NOT.
As for the Christian ethics- wonder where those went when the people here in Emmonak were starving and freezing.
She is worthless a s a governor and actually doesnt make a very nice person either.

Hope for the future   February 10th, 2009 5:21 pm ET

Maybe she didn't get enough donations on SarahPac to pay for the trip. :)

dansirishwife   February 10th, 2009 5:21 pm ET

Hopefully the Republicans will let evil-spewing idiots like Coulter and Limbaugh to continue to represent their party. The Democrats will not have to fight too hard in 2012.
Even better, let them put Palin on the ticket. It will be the biggest landslide in American politics for Obama!

Jim   February 10th, 2009 5:21 pm ET

How was Palin trashed by Couric? Katie threw softballs to her and Palin struck out!

lopez in Gregory, TX   February 10th, 2009 5:20 pm ET

Hope she's not off shooting from some helicopter. Her aim is off on everything else but shooting animals and pleasing conservatives no matter their intelligence. Heck, she probably thinks they're geniuses. She's the only one that thinks that–shows how smart she is. Fool!

I would love to see Rush Limbaugh compete as the Republiklan candidate in 2012!

...And Ann Coulter as the veepee pick!

they will surely be an interesting couple – the show of hate, bigotry and just the sheer cluelessness of this pair will be great!!!!

that would be hillarious! – I can't wait!!!!!

Melissa   February 10th, 2009 5:20 pm ET

Of course she did. She's too dumb to do anything actually intelligent.

These aren't icons! These are boils that fester and spread, a pox that plagues humanity.

BushBeGone®   February 10th, 2009 5:19 pm ET

I hope Palin stays in the news forever. That way those who haven't figured it out yet will plainly see the the GOP is a joke.

Now they want to line by line our money

Justifed Cynic   February 10th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

A politician who actually turns down a chance to be in the lime light in order to do her job. How novel.

Vernon   February 10th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

She saw Obama's press conference last night and realized that she could not have answered one of those questions intelligently. Was I the only one watching last night wondering how would Sarah be doing?

Kris in LA   February 10th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

Boo hoo. And she's always so thoughtful and has so much to contribute to any gathering she attends. What'll those good ole boys do without their Miss Thing???

hawkeye   February 10th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

Starving families in Alaska, is probably not a good time to be gone??

Dixie Lady   February 10th, 2009 5:17 pm ET

It's hard to travel another 4,000 milesl when you're busy with tutorials on how to do interviews, write complete sentences, and look for Russia from her front porch. Besides, Mike & Mitt & Co. might ask her some tough questions. She needs that personal space to get ready for a Presidential run in 2012. Her whereabouts are thus worthy news as it's a key political skill to map your opponent's movements.

Melissa M   February 10th, 2009 5:16 pm ET

This is one reason why I like Sarah Palin. She seems to understand that you don't take off to hobnob during a busy Legislative season. She's one politician who understands her priorities.

Frank, Las Vegas   February 10th, 2009 5:16 pm ET

She would have to speak and all of McCain's speech writers are no available to her, so she'd be on her own, and we all know what that sounds like. Additional reasons, reporters would ask her questions, we know how that ends too. Last but not least, potential presidential rivals will be there, so what you ask. When she was on McCain's ticket they had to support her, try to tell everyone and anyone who would listen that she's not as dumb as she sounds. As true rivals after the same job, they would not be supporting her or holding her up as any kind of a future for the GOP. In fact, they would be attacking her lack of experience, common sense and intelligence more than the Democrats ever did.

So Sarah, just say goodbye once and for all. Please.

Charles   February 10th, 2009 5:16 pm ET

I can't blame Sarah Palin for wanting to avoid Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. I believe, however, that it is a little late for her to try to separate herself from the wing nuts of the Republican Party. She is already one of them.

Dan Chapman   February 10th, 2009 5:16 pm ET

She might be asked to speak intelligently on some topic or other, and the ensuing drivel might get reported, which would further tarnish her jerry-rigged "image" as the next leader of the Republican "party". Better to keep her under wraps and away from all those pesky liberal journalists.

candid   February 10th, 2009 5:16 pm ET

These are a bunch a loser names headlining. Icons my back side. She is trying to set herself a part from these fools like HUSH Limpball and Anal Culter. I still don't like you though Palin – go away (FAST).

Chess   February 10th, 2009 5:16 pm ET

Good, it makes me wonder who pays for all of her trips to Washington, I certainly hope it's not the taxpayers

Becky   February 10th, 2009 5:15 pm ET

Does that mean she is going on the DL only to re-emerge as an even bigger loser?

Len   February 10th, 2009 5:15 pm ET

She must be smarter than we think! I wouldn't want to be seen with Ginrich, Limbaugh and Coulter either!

Ray   February 10th, 2009 5:15 pm ET

The Press has little good news to report. Sarah provides that. Don't look now folks but she is going to be your next President.

Connie   February 10th, 2009 5:14 pm ET

Maybe it's because her state legislatures just found her husband and aides were in contempt for ignoring their subpoena's?

Maybe it's because today her Attorney General announced his 'resignation' ?

And the plot thickens.....................

I'd like to know the truth behind Colberg's 'resignation'.

Clear and transparent government..............I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!

Lauren   February 10th, 2009 5:14 pm ET

I don't blame her, I would not hang around with the likes of Rush Llimbaugh and his ilk either

Carl from MI   February 10th, 2009 5:14 pm ET

No worries, Mate!! She'll have plenty of other chances to get her white sheet and hood... and being from Alaska, at least she's smart enough to know that if she's going to burn anything it's going to be in the woodstove for heat!!

This is actually the first smart thing she's done since the election. It's not that she doesn't have a tarnished image... but it's a brilliant move on her part not to be seen "pal-ing" around with conservative right-wing nut-jobs and the Radical Right. She really needs to give her image a rest for a while.

She definitely doesn't want to get any of Ann Coulter-geist's cooties on her!! Rush is a comedian... and Newt is probably using the conference to cheat on his significant other.

She SHOULD snub them... serves them right for trying to kill the stimulus bill... she knows her state really needs that money, now that she can't be seen taking 'pork-barrel' money anymore for bridges.

Independent Dave, Cedar Rapids, Iowa   February 10th, 2009 5:14 pm ET

Mike   February 10th, 2009 5:12 pm ET

All that money they give to residents each year and they can't come up with enough to feed the people freezing and starving in the villages. Pretty good indication what her priorities would be as President. Also expects Obama to discuss the pipeline during his visit to Canada. I thought she had all that foreign policy experience and would manage the affair? Oh yeah...She's too busy worrying about Sarah and 2012.

Sarah Palin is the only realy true conservative as far as I can tell. She is not ashamed to let everyone know she loves the lord and lives by His Word. She calls abortion murder and doesn't use all the so called "politically correct" hogwash. I can't believe there aren't millions of Christians coming to her aid when she is trashed my the likes of Katie Couric andher cronies. Other than not being used to the bullying and ambushing of our so called media, just exactly what has she done that is so terrible? She is a very intelligent and caring woman. She calls a spade a spade. If we want to save our country my fellow Christians, we had better become more vocal about God and quit hiding in churches while our country continues on it's way to hell. A real Christian is a Christian every day, at work or play and sings God's praises every chance we get. If this comment turns you off, think how I feel hearing most of the junk comments on these blogs. It's a free country so far and I have every right to say what I think, just like you do...

CNN never posts my comments no matter what I say. Regardless, maybe Palin actualy realizes now that national politics is over her head. Maybe it is just that simple.

Good riddance, Alaskans are suffering and freezing while she rides the tax payers helicopters and shoots the evening meal.............

Andrew   February 10th, 2009 5:07 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter? That's why CPAC is going to lose and the Republicans are going to increasingly become a regional party consisting of Southern white males while the rest of the country moves deeper into the 21st Century. Electing Michael Steele was unabashed tokenism and will not help the party become more inclusive since their ideas are as divisive and backwards as ever. No minorities are going to flock to the GOP because of Michael Steele unless he make some fundamental changes to their policies.

Susan Jones   February 10th, 2009 5:04 pm ET

Who cares? She's busy selling out parts of beautiful and pristine Alaska one State Park or Preserve at a time. Alaska needs a governor and senators who actually care about the ecology of "our" state. It will be too late when all the oil and gas rigs plus the extinction of wildlife we have in no other state are keeping tourists away rather than bringing them in.

Phil   February 10th, 2009 5:03 pm ET

She doen't have to go. She is the GOP leader. Just ask Rush. It's a done deal. She runs in 2012 with their full support. She calls the shots and goes where she pleases. The flock (as always) will follow.

Not saying that Palin has any sense whatsoever, but if she did she would stay as far away from Limbaugh and Coulter as possible.

Christy   February 10th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

I'm sure Mike, Mitt and Ron are ok with it.

Sue   February 10th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

Aw, what's the matter...SarahPAC hasn't raised enough money for another jaunt to Washington yet? I thought Republicans were not feeling this recession and didn't need any stimulus package?

And Alaska's legislature is only part time...just like their Gov. Bet she was looking forward to eating dinner with Rush and Ann...and they'll be so disappointed.

Chelle   February 10th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

so what!

Boston Irish   February 10th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

Hey Brandon, she's going to have to go a LONG way to beat the scandals the Democrats are trying to hide and NOT succeeding. I don't see her getting impeached, arrested or charged with anything. Do you??

TyWebb   February 10th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

Bummer!!!

Cynthia   February 10th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

Who cares?

Melba   February 10th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

Sarah, don't you have diapers to change?

FAYE, NV   February 10th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

No that I know cares if Sara attended anything.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   February 10th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

I guess she finally got it that she can't leave "The First Dude" in charge anymore after Troopergate or did he finally get a paying job and stop living off the State of Alaska.

Kingsley   February 10th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

Halelujah!! The less we hear of and from her, the better.

Independent Voter   February 10th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

sarah palin is finally using good judgement by staying away from all the republican idiots that do nothing but stir up hate and divisivness...she knows she would not stand a chance in 2012 primaries if she does not change her way of doing things.

God Bless President Obama, VP Biden and the First Families

Cheryl   February 10th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

It's about time she stay in Alaska.

Linda   February 10th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

raagos   February 10th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

Soccer Nana   February 10th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

"also scheduled to include conservative icons like Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter" LOL, icons?

"Ann Coulter is under investigation by the Connecticut Elections Enforcement Commission for allegedly voting in that state while registered to vote in New York City"

"Coulter was investigated and cleared of wrongdoing in 2006 for allegedly violating Florida's voter registration laws by voting in the wrong precinct. Florida Election Commission dropped the case after deciding that the two-year statute of limitations had run out."
LOL, some icon.

Newt Gingrich, has been married how many times?

Rush the-Oxy-Limbaugh, hummm an icon huh?

"The Alaska governor had been expected to serve as the headline attraction at the three day event"

"Thousands of villagers in rural Alaska are struggling to survive, forced to choose between keeping their families warm and keeping their stomachs full, residents say." LOL some headliner. She needs to stay home and take care of all of state's citizens; believe it or not Ms. Palin, those villagers are REAL Americans too.

Spencer/Hampton Roads, VA   February 10th, 2009 4:48 pm ET

She doesn't need anymore press tha she's already getting. By the way, Rush has proven that he's the head of the Republican Party and Steele or Palin hold no power.

Henry Miller, Cary, NC   February 10th, 2009 4:47 pm ET

The only one who matters is Ron Paul–the rest are the same neo-con dweebs who ruined the Republican Party.

Ron Paul appears to be the only guy in either party who truly understands the economy. Unless the Reps start paying attention to him, they're going to wind up on "the trash bin of history," as someone once called it.

Jane (Minnesota)   February 10th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

And I'm supposed to care, why???? The Gov must be tryin' to distance herself from the far right –you betcha.

Irma in North Carolina   February 10th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

Doesnt Sarah have enough money in PAC account to go. Come on alasks people donate to her fund, cause she needs to get together with her buddy Rush.

Patrick Peavy Dallas,TX   February 10th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

She better be the nominee in 2012, 2016, and beyond until she gets it.

Adrian Veidt   February 10th, 2009 4:45 pm ET

Sarah Palin is the new Paris Hilton.

Untalented, unintelligent, and somehow incapable of leaving the spotlight, even this long after wearing out her welcome.

mk   February 10th, 2009 4:45 pm ET

So?

trying to be reasonable in WV   February 10th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

Awww, GEEEEEE!!!!! No Sarah????????? (I think I'll go pout!). And to think that if she would leave Alaska for the CPAC shindig, she could have simultaneously raised the average IQ of both the state of Alaska AND the CPAC meeting. Bummer, dude!!!!!

P. Y.   February 10th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

Finally, finally, she is making a right decision. This is a first for her.
Good idea to stay home Sarah. Your state REALLY needs you right now.

Mickie   February 10th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

Did you see that the Attorney General of Alaska (appointed by Gov. Palin) has resigned?

Gene   February 10th, 2009 4:42 pm ET

Wow... when the repubs are officially declaring people like Rush as their icons.. you know the party is sinking fast.

That's one party I wouldn't be caught dead in.

JF   February 10th, 2009 4:42 pm ET

HMMM.... Gingrich, Limbaugh, Palin & Coulter ..... has the makings of a major FREAK SHOW if ever I've seen one ....!

Boston Irish   February 10th, 2009 4:42 pm ET

Any event that includes Gingrich, Limbaugh and (EWWWW) Coulter is not worth wasting your time on. These are three of the most horrible people I can think of that I would want to hear speak. Really PATHETIC

THE OLD TIMER   February 10th, 2009 4:41 pm ET

Why not go to washington for this.

Terry, TX   February 10th, 2009 4:38 pm ET

She has work to do....the legislative session and a volcano....a state to run.
-Not like us unknown bloggers who have no life...and I include myself in that description.

Pam   February 10th, 2009 4:38 pm ET

Why? Is she afraid reporters will ask her questions?

chuck   February 10th, 2009 4:38 pm ET

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT SARAH PALIN IS SHOWING HER TRUE COLOURS.SHE IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE AND THIS WAS DISPLAYED ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL LASY YEAR SO NO ONE SHOULD BE DISAPPOINTED THAT SHE IS NOT ATTENDING THE CPAC.

NIKI   February 10th, 2009 4:37 pm ET

IS SHE THE ONLY ONE NOT ATTENDING
CNN YOU STIR UP HATE

Razorback   February 10th, 2009 4:37 pm ET

Guess things were too quiet on the blogs.
Anti-Palin comments in 3...2...1....

Realistic View   February 10th, 2009 4:37 pm ET

I was wondering how long the Ticker could survive without a Palin article. Glad to know this one is chocked full of information about her doing... nothing?

obama-mama   February 10th, 2009 4:36 pm ET

That's interesting. Sarah never turn down an opportunity for photos and continual chatter.

Taa Taa   February 10th, 2009 4:36 pm ET

Thank God.. Leave her in Alaska...

Dylan from MN   February 10th, 2009 4:36 pm ET

Sounds boring.

Purple Alaska   February 10th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

Good! Maybe, just maybe she'll be focusing on some of that "governey" kinda stuff... Ya think? Nahhhhhh.

Mike   February 10th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

Sarah,the democratic party needs you.

Kim   February 10th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

Stay in Alaska where you belong.

Hazel   February 10th, 2009 4:34 pm ET

Gosh darn it! In what regard, Charlie? You betcha. Also.

RLE   February 10th, 2009 4:33 pm ET

who cares

Had It   February 10th, 2009 4:33 pm ET

Awwww

ellington7   February 10th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

This is just another political move by the Gop to keep their presidential hopefull from being over exposed, as well as to not place her with right wing radicals that would make her look bad. They know people don't approve of the Gop, so to place her with them would smudge her up as well. Personally I love that the Gop is looking to prop up sarah "nobrain" palin because she can't, and won't win anything in 2012.

LK in NJ   February 10th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

Thank you for listening to the public!

George the Democrat Obama fanatic.   February 10th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

Smart move Sarah Palin staying low key for the moment is your only hope to compete in 2012.

And I really hope you win the Repub nomination because that is an easy win for Barack.

Lovely   February 10th, 2009 4:32 pm ET

She had time to go to D.C for a party.. and not for the CPAC. It seems that she is begginning to distance her self. Possibly start up her own wing of the Republican Party. I would not blame her. If she want to run in 2012 ( and I hope she does) she will need to be a moderate.
I only hope she runs so the Dems won't have to use as many resources for reelection!!!

Go OBAMA-We believe in you!

Nonconformist   February 10th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

I love Sarah Plain.

jmv   February 10th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

WHO CARES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOUTHERN HOTTIE   February 10th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

So it will be a gathering for only white folks?
I wonder if Steele knows about this. . .

Yveline   February 10th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

WHO CARES?

gl, Pittsburgh   February 10th, 2009 4:30 pm ET

Of cource not. She is to busy following President Obama around. She having second thoughts about her party of no!

WhoCares?   February 10th, 2009 4:29 pm ET

"which is also scheduled to include conservative icons like Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter."

Wow. The concentrated EVIL in that room might actually open a gate to Hell within that building.

arithmetic is liberal   February 10th, 2009 4:28 pm ET

Maybe she scheduled a more important event over top of it like she did to the Congressional Republicans last week...

Wow. Rush, Newt, Ann the Stick, Huckabee, Romney...
Can't wait to see the radiant light and hopeful positivity that will shine out of this event!!

July   February 10th, 2009 4:27 pm ET

conservative icons like Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter ..................... icons? Really?

Brandon from Ohio   February 10th, 2009 4:27 pm ET

She probably has another scandal going on that she's trying to cover up.
