Bill Ayers has an idea for Palin

Palin highlighted Obama's connection to Bill Ayers during the presidential campaign.
Palin highlighted Obama's connection to Bill Ayers during the presidential campaign.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin once accused Barack Obama of “palling around with terrorists,” a catchphrase intended to highlight Obama’s connection to former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers.

Now that the campaign rhetoric has subsided, Ayers has an idea for a new show starring his Alaskan nemesis.

“I did send her a note after the election,” he says of Palin in the upcoming issue of the New York Times magazine. “I suggested that we have a talk show together called ‘Pallin’ Around With Sarah and Bill.’ I haven’t heard back.”

Ayers assiduously avoided interviews and press attention during the presidential race, but he insists the Obama campaign never told him to keep quiet.

“They apparently didn’t want to call me, and I certainly wouldn’t have initiated it,” he says.

According to Ayers, Obama’s election was “a strike against white supremacy.” But, he says, his victory doesn’t change the fact that “40 percent of black kids under 5 live in poverty.”

He also says that while he considers himself a radical, he believes Obama is “a moderate Democrat.”

“If you look at his record, it’s the record of a moderate, who indeed does know how to make compromises,” Ayers told the magazine.

and i can't believe that there is still bad mouth her and this is the liberal side of the news and i read all the hatred for her. So i suggest that all the liberals get the hell out of this country and then this country will be full of love.

To all those correcting Alicia: Yep, Jindal may be a Catholic convert from Hinduism, but it doesn't matter. For months we who supported Pres. Obama had to listen to the right-wing, neo-con, theocratic fringe screaming that Obama was a Muslim. We had to listen to an actual V.P. candidate implying that Obama was a terrorist. If you run Jindal, trust me, you'll have to listen to the rest of us who don't believe in theocracy and meddling in American citizens' personal lives and wombs implying all sorts of things about your guy.

this might be a good mix (for all of us). both have pushed hard against the established constraints of discussion – both seem to aspire to better things beyond our reach and possibilities. so very different, but a good dynamic. As a Rep-Obama-can, I think we need a new context for discussion. How about lifting off with a debate on Cuba: why are so-called 'freemarketers' so afraid of deploying their dynamic on such a very tableau-rasa place?

    Confession: I LOVE HABANA

Why can we give every country in need of help billions of dollars (Iraq, Simalia, Israel, India) without expecting a penny back, but to help ourselves people are against it. It sounds to me that conservatives are trying to fight on this for no reason. It would make more sense to cut out funds to other countries and use it for ourself.

@Alicia and all those who corrected her:

Yes, it's true that Jindal was born Hindu and now is a practicing Christian. What I would like to know is: what the heck is wrong with being Muslim? Everyone is quick to make corrections, but no one looks at the stigma this society is attaching to a beautiful religion. NOT ALL Muslims are terrorists.

I see the poor pathetic partisans are still infatuated with Governor Palin.

What's really funny is how all you idiots are going after Palin, when the Big 'O' is in the White House making an absolute mockery out of the Presidency.

Nominating criminals, telling the world the U.S. is on the brink of catastrophe, not understanding he shouldn't involve himself in Congressional squabbles...it's incredible.

Yep...there's the community organizer. Good gravy...it's amazing how stupid the electorate can be!

Could Palin read and understand a communication from someone with as much education as Ayers, or did she need an interpreter?

    Scott,

Your statement about "whole villages starving" in Alaska shows how people would rather be ignorant than informed for politics' sake.

Take you stupid hat off for today...your work is done.

What's the difference between a mugger with a gun and a politician? At least the mugger has the integrity to tell you that your being robbed and he has the gun to prove it.

I've no love for a guy like Ayers but I'm much more affraid of vindictive politicians like Palin. If the thought of Palin in the whitehouse doesn't strike terror in your heart then you don't even HAVE one. This vicious woman is potentially more dangerous than Ayers ever was.

The only tv show she should ever be on is the Rosie O'Donnel show if it ever came back. Now THAT would be great!

ummm...palin power – she can't be President from 2012-2021. that would be a 9 year term.

i'm sure that Palin is going to be a viable candidate in 2012 – but that's a long time from now – let's see how things go for a while. People didn't start campaigning for 2008 election until 2006, and that was after 5 1/2 years of Bush Presidency. Let's at least wait a while before we start running for 2012.

LOL, who's got the last laugh NOW Sarah? I guess Bill Ayers told you huh? You used him during your gutter campaign stumps.

Hey, it's true that what goes around ALWAYS comes around. YOU and John McCain played dirty politics calling President Obama an "elitist, palling with terrorists and unAmerican.

Hummmm, and you wonder why you and Johnny boy lost.

Lady D, so you think it's ok to blow up buildings, if you are standing up for what you believe in. You even like the guy because he did it. So you have no problem with terrorism. What strange morals you have.
