Obama is praising news of a deal on the stimulus bill.

(CNN) - President Barack Obama on Wednesday praised members of Congress for apparently reaching a deal on a stimulus package.

“I want to thank the Democrats and Republicans in Congress who came together around a hard-fought compromise that will save or create more than 3.5 million jobs and get our economy back on track," he said in an issued statement.

Obama also highlighted comments from Caterpillar's CEO that he would rehire some laid-off workers if the bill passed.

"Just today, the CEO of Caterpillar said that if this American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan is passed, his company would be able to rehire some of the employees they’ve been forced to lay off," he said. "It’s also a plan that will provide immediate tax relief to families and businesses, while investing in priorities like health care, education, energy, and infrastructure that will grow our economy once more."

Thank you Mr. President and others who tried to work out something to point America in the direction of fiscal healing.

"fearful for our country"...I am sorry you are so bitter. You and the other meanie heads on this post ~ I wish you a good night's sleep, and when you wake your attitude will have adjusted to one of hope and truthtelling. I just don't know how you live with yourselves.

Four years from now most Obamaroids will be just as poor, just as hateful and just as stupid...

And it will still be George Bush's or the Republicans fault.

Obama should be impeached for his constant lying to Americans.
He is a total disgrace to every person who wore a uniform.

Obama kept the fires of promise burning throughout this whole process to get the bill through. The Repugnants did their usual lines of this and that like usual. They offered no new ideas. Their ideas were way too reminiscent of a President 25 years ago that tripled or quadrupled our national debt with his economic revolution....HA !!! The GREAT communicator my . They STILL hold to this crap which is why the democrats have done so well. The guy they pick for their chairman now has questions about him swirling about. Fair and balanced must be delighted beyond belief..... Obama got this through because alot of his ideas are fresh and worth an effort to try them out. I would have done some things a bit different but essentially things look good and DEFINITELY better than the party of BLAH could have come up with. One thing that will surely resonate from this and I am sure future political moments is the fact that it is OBAMA that sought bipartisanship. What did the GOP do? Nada !!! So in the scheme of things, they can 86 the whining and start to get involved in the concept of working as a team and not a one sided joke like what went on for the past 8 years. If their ideas are SOOOOO great and all, then how come we are in the mess we are in now and the past 8 years were such a horrendous disaster on so many fronts? Until they change the way they do things, the Republicans' standing is going to worsen. GOBAMA !!!

It's always interesting to read these comments that go something like: "Just give the stimulus directly to the American people! Problem solved!!" It's always interesting, that is, because not a single one of the people espousing these ideas seem to be able to do math. The figures are always ridiculously off. Would be funny if it weren't so sad... Leave the economic problem-solving to the big boys, kids.
