(CNN) – Former Republican National Committee chairman Mike Duncan was elected to head up the Tennessee Valley Authority board of directors in a 4-3 vote Thursday morning.
Duncan had served on two committees at the TVA, a federally owned corporation responsible for energy, environment, and economic development in the South.
The former head of the Republican Party fell short in his re-election bid last month, telling committee members that running the committee “has truly been the highlight of my life.”
Duncan will succeed current TVA chairman William B. Sansom, whose term expires May 18.

@ JoJo (or any other GOPer)
Please state what crimes you think those are and the facts that support your accusation. What's that? You don't know? You have no facts? You have no evidence? Well come on...that never stopped a GOPer before!!! Fabricate some!!! Lie!!! Repeat it over and over!!!

OK, this is a tad off topic, but that comb-over/dye job is probably the worst one I have seen in a LOOOOOOOng time.
How can you trust anyone with a position of importance whose warped sense of vanity makes them look ike a bafoon?

THAT IS SIMPLY DEPRESSING. I AM SURE THE COAL COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SLURRY SPILL IN TENNESSEE WILL BE VERY HAPPY TODAY.

good job, TVA. way to hire the chief defender of US energy polluters in this time of renewable energy momentum. TVA is full of a bunch of hillbillies that will fight renewable energy until they are replaced or federal law mandates and subsequent court challenges have been settled. It will take years.

Manny – Mike lives in my old hometown in Kentucky. He's been a vain comb-over bafoon for years.
Kentucky and Jim –
Mike owns the local banks in town and the surrounding counties. Years ago, Martin County had one of the worst slurry spills in history, so he has a lot of experience with the clean up of them. Unfortunately, instead of learning from the experience and fighting to find other sources of renewable energy, they continue to lobby for coal production. His election to head the TVA is regrettable. WAY TO GO, TENNESSEE!!!!!
@Justin in TN – I don't pal around with terrorist pal.
Awwww PC is upset. I have a life sweetness. I see you're on the ticker, do you have a life Republicanasaurus
I wish we could send all repubs there
It is refreshing to see the the anti-Obama crowd continuing to post things that are absolutely lacking in facts. It cost you the 2008 election, and it will continue to diminish you in subsequent elections. People like you have turned conservatism into a bad joke.
I know that there are honest, sincere conservatives out there. You need to step up and take ownership of the Republican party. I may not always agree with the principle of conservatism, but it is essential that there be multiple perspectives.
Screw the South,no welfare for these States.
Perfect match, he's used to rolling in muck.
Obama is a war criminal. War criminals drop bombs on sovereign, friendly countries that are not at wwar with us. War criminals drop bombs on houses where INNOCENT CHILDREN are living. Not familiar w/this? Check out the drone attacks on pakistan from two weeks ago under Obama's watch.
He's just as bad as Bush was. They are both sick warhawks – except Obama is worse – he talks of peace, yet raises an iron fist and murders innocent children with it. That's not a man, that's a COWARD.
And yeah, why aren't we out of Iraq yet? You are STILL occupying a place that we have no business of being in. Just like Bush did.
WAR CRIMINAL OBAMA should stand trial for this! So should every single member of congress that authorized the US to invade the sovereign nation of Iraq, along w/Bush, Cheney & Rumsfield.
Obamania is a sickness, not something to be proud of. You folks are just as bad as those Bush-lovers from eight years ago that were so excited when Bushie Jr took the WH from Clinton. Idol worship....what a crock. Eliminate the ignorance and see that these men (both Bush & Obama) don't give a DAMNED about you.
the word republican will soon be on our foul language list.
To Betty in Kentucky:after reading your comment I knew you would hail from either Kentucky or Tennessee. It sounded to me as if you were making a threat. I hope they check you out.My President Obama is more US citizen than you could ever hope to be. You are too consumed with hate to be a good American citizen.
CROOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Lets march to Rush Limbaughs castle and find out how much he cares for us and how its a natural thing to be unemployed. It should be on april fools day,his day.
Duncan sees $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ signs in this federally owned corporation that's responsible for energy, environment, and economic development in the South.
Dearest scootermama – please educate yourself and not accept the word of your lord and savior Obama. People of your level of ignorance are a clear and present threat to the security of my children and grandchildren.
I have a Phd in history from Harvard, therfore I am totally correct regardless of what I say. It is the Obamist way isn't it ?
I wonder what spin he'll attempt to put on that huge environmental ash spill created by the TVA? nevermind... I am sure he'll blame it on Democrats.
Alfaya Lewis,
WHOA there. President Obama is a war criminal? And just how do you come up with that brilliant piece of bull pooky? Because three weeks into his term of office he hasn't rushed all those troops out of Iraq? Having been an active duty member of the military, and raised in a military household, I can tell you that moving that many people and materials takes TIME. The D-Day invasion of Normandy took something like 2.5 million people of three countries in the civilian and military nearly a full year to plan and execute.
There is a specific legal definition of war criminal. And freedom of speech none-the-less, you CAN be sued for libel. President Obama has declared no war, sent no troops anywhere, and in fact, has countered the order for torture that IS a war crime.
And what does that have to do with this story? Did you intend it to be on another blog and it showed up here, or were you just so full of your own opinion that you just had to impose it on the rest of us?
