Mike Duncan, former head of the Republican Party, fell short in his re-election bid last month.

(CNN) – Former Republican National Committee chairman Mike Duncan was elected to head up the Tennessee Valley Authority board of directors in a 4-3 vote Thursday morning.

Duncan had served on two committees at the TVA, a federally owned corporation responsible for energy, environment, and economic development in the South.

The former head of the Republican Party fell short in his re-election bid last month, telling committee members that running the committee “has truly been the highlight of my life.”

Duncan will succeed current TVA chairman William B. Sansom, whose term expires May 18.

As long as there is the South, all washed up Republicans can find a cushy job. When he gets his first check, I would suggest that he replace that monkey's behind on his head.

I guess with his previous performance we can expect more toxic dumpings?

Talk about the rat leaving one sinking ship and jumping on another.

Does he know the TVA was responsible for the billions of gallons of coal ash that spilled in late December?

    What a career move.

This is the same TVA that just flooded the valley when it's cesspool of ash broke through the barriers that contained it. This happened back in November, but of course, didn't get any coverage.

What has happened since? Where are the environmentalists?

Would you report these facts, please? I think we should know what's happening.

Curious what this entails! Given that the bad Republican-oriented sludge dam breakage will not be over too soon, Duncan leaves the stage of the RNC to get to be pummeled in this new scenario of problems. I am wondering if the man is up for this new pr program because he brings his own baggage with him! My guess that he doesn't know what is coming. Bad luck isn't over yet for him!

For all of you in despair.... Obama will be gone in four years... it will seem like much more than that but hang in there. We'll start rebuilding then, getting back on the right track.

This is where it gets really complicated. If the TVA is "a federally owned corporation responsible for energy, environment, and economic development in the South", what can we southerners expect as far as energy conservation innovations of the future with this new chairman? Duncan is a regressive guy stuck in the old ways and with pockets lined by big business that doesn't want changes in energy sources. We need to watch out for obstruction TVA folk. THERE WILL BE NO GREEN JOBS COMING TO THE SOUTH!

good job, TVA. way to hire the chief defender of US energy polluters in this time of renewable energy momentum. TVA is full of a bunch of hillbillies that will fight renewable energy until they are replaced or federal law mandates and subsequent court challenges have been settled. It will take years.

Remember, all Duncan has to do is blame Washington....for getting in the way of corporate America's right to pollute with impunity.

    Remember, Party First!

The TVA is another pork project that should have been privatised decades ago, more proof that big government is bad government.

Thanks to CNN for buying into and promoting the Marxist world of Barack Hussien Obama. Obama must be accepted and honored and obeyed and CNN is doing a wonderful job in doing that. Thanks again CNN.

I can't wait to see the new addition of Newsweek. The pictures and names of those who are responsible for this financial recession in our country are identified. These are the folk that we need to know and stop blaming the little guy.

Question: What would Congress look like if they were those elected who were truly representative of our country? I guess there would be fewer lawyers and big business folk and more people who represented the interests of American workers.

I am in favor of prosecuting Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, and Frank for the crimes they are carrying out. It may have to happen after the 2010 election but it needs to be done. If Obama can be put behind bars for his multitude of crimes it would serve as a lesson to other Democrats. Justice will take time, but it will come down on them, and to the "news" outlets such as CNN that promotes their crimes.

Please do hang in there. But remember this; Former Pres. Bush got you to the point where "you" need to rebuild, as you say. President Obama had nothing to do with your woes. Let the rubber meet the road. Just say that you can't respect a Black man as your President.

FRNCC Duncan brings with him no change.
