Mike Duncan, former head of the Republican Party, fell short in his re-election bid last month.
Mike Duncan, former head of the Republican Party, fell short in his re-election bid last month.

(CNN) – Former Republican National Committee chairman Mike Duncan was elected to head up the Tennessee Valley Authority board of directors in a 4-3 vote Thursday morning.

Duncan had served on two committees at the TVA, a federally owned corporation responsible for energy, environment, and economic development in the South.

The former head of the Republican Party fell short in his re-election bid last month, telling committee members that running the committee “has truly been the highlight of my life.”

Duncan will succeed current TVA chairman William B. Sansom, whose term expires May 18.

This sounds like a job you get from someone that is paying back a favor!

    I agree.

@Justin in TN: If the republicans keep on track with ruining the environment, we will all be gone in 4 years.

A Republican leaves his post in the party to head up a government owned company. That's hypocrisy you can count on.

Cool. The more Republicans that are in positions in power, the weaker B.O. will be.

@obama-mama: I'm not your pal. And it's not just wishful thinking to think we can turn this country around and get things set right again. It will just take some time, and after we work through the next four years we will have the opportunity to elect the right leadership to make it happen.

Simmy you must educate yourself. The current disaster was created by Democrat Party people during the Carter and Clinton administration forcing lender to make trillions (yes trillions) in loans to people who could not repay them. George Bush had nothing to do with the current problems. So please Simmy , search for the truth and do not be fooled by your false lord and savior, Barry Obama.

We have read the polls. President Obama's approval rating is at almost 70%. The other 30%? The ones who post here. Right wing fringe with really big mouths and a lot of hatred. It's falling on deaf ears.

    @Justin in TN,

President Obama will still be in the WH in four years; oh yes he will.

No President will ever do something EVERYBODY likes; Presidents lead according to what they believe will benefit the Country. just simply get past your real reason why you do not like President Obama; because there will be other minority citizens who will be voted in as POTUS.

Well Betty from KY, I know you ridge-runners hate the thought of moving ito the new millenium, but Obama is going to get re-elected., and by a landslide. Do you really think your ultra-thin bench has any winners on it under the age of 100 ready to mount a serious threat in less than 3 years?

The sad thing is I truly believe that you think that republicans will be extinct...I hope you are not that out of it, the republican party is a very strong group, I for one am someone that will support the party till the end. And just to refresh your memory, yes Osama won, but im pretty sure he didnt get 100% of the vote, he only got 52% of the actual vote, so i think you have a long way before you start saying things like the republican party will be extinct...l can only hope that the hypocritical democrats will be the ones to go extinct.

We should forcibly eject it and ALL red states from the union, with their CONSERVATIVE mas murderers and traitors.

Pray everyday that God keeps our President safe from these dastardly CONSERVATIVE CONFEDERATES, bec whatever happens to him happens to America...

If the Obama-haters think their forefathers had it bad during the last Civil War, let them keep up their treasonous ways...

    "JoJo February 12th, 2009 1:47 pm ET

I am in favor of prosecuting Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, and Frank for the crimes they are carrying out. It may have to happen after the 2010 election but it needs to be done. If Obama can be put behind bars for his multitude of crimes it would serve as a lesson to other Democrats. Justice will take time, but it will come down on them, and to the "news" outlets such as CNN that promotes their crimes."

I am in favor of prosecuting Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfield, C. Rice for the mass murdering of over 4500 U.S. troops based on WMD (words of mass deception)! You are one sick person.

President Obama and the members of Congress or Senate you mentioned have not committed any crimes. You need to be committed my friend.

You write like you are drunk with Limbaugh kool aid. You really need to lay off drinking that stuff and drink water.

Marxism has never been imposed except by the barrel of a gun. That is the only way Barack Hussien Obama and the current Democrat Party leadership is going to accomplish it. The American people are becoming angry and are ready to take this to the streets. No doubt we will be gunned down by the Obamists.

CNN is getting more slobbery over Obama every day–thank God for Foxnews and Rush–they keep my spirits up–not the doom and gloom Messiah. He gives money to tv plants and we have to suck it up simply because we work for a living.

The TVA hired Mike Duncan? They must be looking to shut it down. If you need a business destroyed, your best bet is hire a Republican crony. Guaranteed to finish it off in record time.

With a Repub at the helm, how can there be any energy, environment, and economic development in the South, or anywhere else? This party is chasing its tail in an effort to hold onto old ideas and agendas and their myths are being exposed right and left. I have no idea what they can do to turn themselves back into a responsible opposition party. It doesn't look good when they openly target members of their own party for speaking their minds and trying to reach cross the aisle.
