Capitol Hill Web sites crashing over stimulus bill

Congressional Web sites are crashing over the stimulus bill.

Congressional Web sites are crashing over the stimulus bill.

CAPITOL HILL (CNN) - Just hours after Congressional leaders posted the final version of a $789 billion stimulus deal, staffers on Capitol Hill faced both a surge of demand on key Web sites and an apparent technical glitch that crashed those sites off and on throughout the morning.

A spokesman for the Senate appropriations committee told CNN Radio that their site had been up and down all Friday morning. He said technicians had found an apparent server problem that was not related to increased demand.

The technical issue crashed the system at one of the most high-profile moments in years, intermittently blocking the Appropriations homepage and some of the few other sites where taxpayers could find the details of the economic stimulus deal Democrats posted specifics to the Internet late Thursday night. Staffers said that technology crews were working to fix the problem and restore the sites.

The Republican Party will do anything to make President Barack Obama look bad Like the stimulus bill , when Bush has put us in this mess they did anything he asked. The Republican Party is so jealous that Obama won they can’t stand it .

How exciting and positive that so many Americans are interested enough! When has that ever happened before? A step in the right direction, I'd say. It's time for us to read, listen and, consider every step made in Washington, DC and it's past time for us to hold our elected officials accountable for every decision they make individually for the sake of us all!

I hope the Obama administration really takes Open Source Solutions seriously.

conspiracy by neo-cons in tech industry! : Are you nuts? I'm a programmer for a fairly large company and I can tell you that a good majority of us are liberal. I hope that was a tongue-in-cheek-comment.

Its most likely crashing because everyone is so infuriated by all the PORK in the bill. I am so over all these politicians , by the way who WE THE PEOPLE employee and pay their salaries, giving them selves pay raises just prior to mandating what the ceo's can earn, and mismanaging OUR money for their Pork projects. I say no one gets any EAR MARKS. Pelosi should be ashamed to set such an example. How about NONE of us pay our taxs? This is outrageous, and the people should call and write their congressional leaders and get it all stopped now, before they spend our money foolishly.

The GOP needs to learn how to swim! Or just just sink! Lead, follow or just get out of the way.

What totally blows my mind, is how can a Republican version of the Stimulus Bill, that would have "twice the jobs at half the cost", not be
given a chance? What is happening in Congress? What happened to
"the right stuff", that Americans expect? Has it been disguised by fear?

Yep, Rush Limbaugh's cronies are hard at work. Why does CNN not report the fact that a majority of Americans are for the stimulus bill. Oh I guess that would be too hard to report the facts versus sensationalism!

Technical issue. Right. Sure it's a "technical issue". The sites are getting slammed by outraged citizens who are deeply opposed to this spendulus bill and the liberal social policies it will usher in. That's why they're crashing. Wake up, Congress. Wake up, Obama. We're not going to cave in to your socialism that easily.

While having servers crash isn't a good thing, the fact that the demand is huge is a good sign people are finally waking up and getting involved. The first part of that involvement is actually READING the bill. Hopefully the spirit of participation will continue and grow with other bills that will follow.

The existing House and Senate bills have been on the web for quite a few days already. The final bill is a blending of this and I would think the vast majority of it is the same. People need to stop whining about 'nobody has seen the bill' because if you take the time, you have had access to 90% of it for nearly two weeks. Please stop whining, READ, and THINK for yourself rather than repeating talking points which are generally based on lies or other nonsense.

I guess nobody wants to make the 13th comment today? Why try to understand Senatorial Logic, when you are dealing with taxpayer
money? You have to know ,when to apply the effectiveness of any bill,
over what the expense might come to, when it is in the best interest
    of the Nation.

Where is the transparency that was promised? Where is our 48hrs to view this before it is voted on? Where is the "change" Mr. Obama? Maybe you completely failed to realize it was the citizens of this country who voted you into office and we expect you to keep your promises. Should you fail at this, you and the rest of the democratic party should expect "change" in 2010.

Why do we need to commen on this. This smells..... The GOP is soo out done. No Matter how they try to discredit Obama and throw mud.....the wind throws it back in their faces. It's a sad day for the GOP. Their lies and negative retoric dosen't faze anyone. They are up a creek, in a leaking boat. without a paddle. Now how is that for irony.

I just listened to Republican Congressman complaining about republicans not being involved in the beginning or at theend of what the stimulus bill is comprised of. He spoke of 1100 pages that he could not read overnight. Even I know better and i know that 90% of what is in the final stimulus bill is what they voted on weeks ago. Iff he dosen't know what he voted on weeks ago he should resign immediately!

Nixon had missing tape sections that got "accidentally" erased.
    Bush had unverified WMD intelligence.
    Obama has "server crashes".

Wow, President Bush was the WORST president this country ever saw and did the media bash him? Well, no, but it seems that president Obama can't do anything right. Although he is a million times for intelligent than his predecessor, Bush's screw up's including killing over 4,000 people for no reason at all never got air time. I'm confident Obama can handle this unfair criticism, but don't you think he has enough to do than have to handle the media and all their made up problems. God forbid he spits on the sidewalk. Major news story. Unless you have better ideas, SHUT UP!!!!
