Obama planning ambitious road ahead

President Obama waves as he boards Air Force One for Chicago, where the Obamas were to spend the weekend.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Fresh off victory on President Obama's signature $787 billion economic recovery plan, several top White House aides say they're planning an ambitious agenda for the rest of February.

The Senate had waited for the return of Democrat Sherrod Brown, who was returning from his mother's wake in his home state of Ohio, to close the voting late Friday.

For the rest of the month, the White House agenda will focus on addressing the housing crisis, cleaning up the banking mess and laying the groundwork for reform of the health care system and entitlement programs like Medicare.

Obama's economic stimulus plan, which top aides say will be signed into law as early as Monday at the White House, received no Republican votes in the House and just three in the Senate despite his heavy emphasis on drawing bipartisan support. There have also been several Cabinet miscues in the early days, but top White House aides are confident the president has gotten off to a strong start.

It is great that for a change we have a president who is working to make things better for Americans rather than trying to scare us with stories of boogie-men in turbans who want to blow up our homes.

We know how to protect ourselves from invaders – we need help to protect ourselves from ourselves. This is where Obama stands head-and-shoulders above the last president.

What a bunch of lies! The GOP is not for smaller budgets, just smaller government. What that means is fewer government programs to level the playing field and more no bid government contracts for companies the GOP likes.

Not a single GOP vote in congress for the stimulus bill is obscene. Throw all the partisans out.

O is totally surrounded by YES PEOPLE so it is not surprising that they are not affected by what he says and then does something far different. This stimulus will only stimulate State Governments who have spent 46 out of 50 into billion dollar debts.
O as he said in Florida this week is only running for reelection from now on. This is clear that change is only THE STATUS QUO.

2010 is next year. Some of those republicans are up for re-election.

I'll work to help campaign AGAINST every representative and senator that voted NO, and a bunch of my fellow dems and independents will too.

Maybe no money should go to the state or district of the ones voting no---------

Obama is on the road to a Socialistic Government. The government control of banks, education health, housing and businesses. Those who seek government hand out beware!

I was a big support of Obama during the election and feel like the attempt to "call" is presidency only a few weeks into his term is as ridiculous as the media’s compulsion to call the elections before the votes were counted.

The more important story here, one the media is missing, is that whether you are a supporter of the President or not ,you have to acknowledge that there is someone actually on duty at the White House.

    THAT”S A CHANGE

BEST SOME ONE TAKE OVER HIS SPEECH WRITING. FOR 2 YEARS WE HAVE HEARD THE SAME THING. STIMULUS AN CHANGE.

THE COST OF ONE OF HIS , SOS . WOULD HELP SOME PARTIES THAT ARE IN DIRE NEED OF A PLACE TO SLEEP , FROM THE STORM OF IKE. BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT IS NOT ON THERE MINDS AT ALL, FOR THEY STATED SO RIGHT AFTER THE STORM.

FIRST WE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO WORK IN THE WHITE HOUSE. FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS NOT A BED OF ROSES. NOW HE IS SELLING OUT WHAT IS LEFT OF AMERICA'S DREAM . A FIFTH GRADER CAN COUNT , BETTER THAN SOME OF THE BLURRIE EYED DEMOCRATS.
WE ARE BROKE, THANKS TO CHINA FOR THE 10.8 TRILLION , AND NOW ANOTHER 2 TRILLION . DON'T THEY KNOW THAT HAS TO BE REPAID ??? UHH

I think it's an absolute disgrace that not one of those selfish republicans leaders had the good grace to vote in favor of supporting the country in order for Sherrod Brown not to have to leave his mother's wake in order to cast his vote. Absolutely shameful and disloyal republicans like these should all be voted out of office. Sometimes you have to forget your self and think of others, you are suppose to be working for the country not going on TV throwing tantrums and putting on drama acts, although I have to admit a couple of them were funny this is no laughing matter.

To Harriett – that is just about a stupid comment as I have heard for a long time. The idiots that voted for this piece of destruction didn't even read it. This pork filled piece of destruction will only destroy our country! The ones who did not vote for something that they did not have time to read should be given a medal! At least they did their best to save our country!

YOU can thank W for it! W treated the wars and economy, the same way he treated Katrina. The results were disastrous and Obie had to clean up this 20 trillion mess. The problem is there's too much greed and it had not been controlled for the past 8 years.

What pork? W left us with 5 trillion dollars in debt and an economy parked by the gates of hell. If Obie doesnt do anything, we're as good or worst than a 3rd world country.
