Sources: Obama to sign stimulus Tuesday in Denver

President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two officials said Saturday.
President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two officials said Saturday.

(CNN) - President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two senior administration officials confirm to CNN.

Both officials cited a desire to get out of Washington - to go, in the words of one official, “out west in an area hit hard economically, away from the politics of Washington.”

The other official described Denver as “a place that will see the benefits of the bill in hiring workers.”

Obama traveled to areas hit hard by the economic downturn last week, holding town hall meetings in Elkhart, Indiana and Fort Myers, Florida. He met with workers at a Caterpillar plant in Peoria, Illinois on Thursday, after the company announced 22,000 layoffs.

Hmmm...so all those accusing President Obama of breaking his promise of transparency need to stop griping. The bill has been posted online for a couple of weeks. The final version of the bill is 95% the same and has been posted since Thursday for review before the President signs it. Just as he promised!

Impressive...to make the stimulus work, President needs to have main street believe in how it will work. We should all help President Obama by being vigilant and exposing any waste on wheeling and dealing just in case any politicians are so inclined. Insist on knowing where the money is being spent.

If we can all be the President's ears and eyes on how the stimulus is being spent, then we can have better value for the dollar. Unlike all of those who are so persimistic, I know we will prevail. We have a steady hand at the helm...let us help him expose waste and corruption. DO YOUR PART TO HELP THE PRESIDENT. God Bless President Obama. Stay in touch with the people.

Our first President George Washington, in his Farewell Address, warned the American people against the seriously harmful effects of domination of one party over another.

Washington said that "the domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism.”

He went on to say that wise people make it their duty to discourage and restrain it. Party division “agitates the community with ill founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one part against the other.”

Washington cautioned us that “It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in a free country should inspire caution, in those intrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective constitutional spheres, avoiding in the exercise of powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all departments in one, and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism.”

We would be wise to heed Washington’s warning and use caution with this new party dominated administration.

Okay this is a joke right? I was looking forward to champagne, bright happy faces and the presidential pen laced with a pretty bow on the hill. After all he hit the jackpot. But instead its like watching a movie "Run President Run" to the Colorado mountains. I know what Linclon would say? I told you so. Lace it up for the big game to come. I'm taking a Roman holiday and will watch via satelite.

President Obama is trying to do all he can to help this country to get out of the mess he inherited from the previous administration.
It is regrettable that the Republicans are being so arrogant about the stimulus bill. They should stop and admit who got this country into the mess we are in and admit their error.

Basic economics lesson – giving money and benefits to the unemployed does not create jobs.

Why is there an $8000 tax credit to low income first time home buyers? One of the reasons we are in this mess is from giving loans to people who cannot afford a house. Are Obama and the democrats really this stupid?

Another photo =op just what we need. Nancy Pelosi and harry Reid run the White house while he is out on date nites and traveling around making stump speeches. The election is over!! Can somone tell him.

We will not know if Obama failed.. Do you honestly think we are going to get the truth about the unemploymnet rate the GDP, Do you think any poll you read is honest??? We will never have transparency as long as the media is in the tank for Obama. They won't let the truth out to the American People.

Its a real shame. A man that promised to bring change and transparency to Washington pushed to fast track a bill that was voted on by house and senate members who had not even read the bill just because he wanted the publicity of signing the bill on a specific day.

Unfortunately, a $787 billion bill will be signed into law without one person reading it. Who have we elected to office? People looking out for our best interests or their own – I think it's perfectly clear that it is NOT Americans that our congressmen and women are looking out for. How can our President say that there is no pork or earmarks in this spending package when that is exactly what is in it? I'm afraid we have nothing but backstabbing liars taking care of this country. We should all remember this when each and every one of them are up for re-election.

He ought to sign the thing in New Mexico, on Richardson's veranda,,,, with a 'mint jeulip' to wash down the Republican stench they have brought on to themselves. They should all be 'recalled' by their constituencies, for obstructionism. Then demand that Gov. Richardson retake the nomination, and get on with National interests,,,, let his administrators, who made the concessions to the contractors,,, let them take their own 'bumps', instead of their respected Governor.....

    Good,
He needs to keep a seperation aspect of his presidency from Washinton to be the Peoples president. plus he will gain energy from the people he meets to go and deal with Washington. I have been reading through the Stimulus/Recovery bill and i don't know what Bohner is fretting about. it looks pretty good so far and seems to have the mechanisms in place to insure that the money is spent wisely. I have not read anything of significance that is not wise spending and will either create jobs or save the government money down the road. It is way past over due on some of the stuff i'm reading. You know, termites don't stop eating just because you don't invest on prevention. Nor does time, wear & tear and the elements.

I think the President's visits to places hit hard by the economic crisis is keepin' it real, real for the media and real for the members of congress who seem to be sitting in a D.C. bubble surrounded by the usual lobbyists and greedy fat cats. Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, economic hardship is an equal opportunity disaster for your family, and fortunately, even in spite of the huge pout by members of congress of one party, help is on the way.

I am surprise that the Republicans had 8 years to get us into this mess and want the Democrats to fix it in 3 weeks while they try their hart to block the plan that will help us to get out of this mess. Do they think we are that dumb to believe that they had 24 hours to read the Stimulus Bill that was given to them long ago I only had a High School diploma and it was not that hard to read I hope with a Collage degree it would be a breeze for them. He gets it. Those inside the Beltway, including Republicans in congress, do not.

We, the People know full well that because Bush and the Republicans believed in doing nothing and regulating nothing, we find ourselves deep in this economic mess. This is one of the reasons the people elected Obama. Americans appreciate that at least Obama is trying to do something. What did Bush do in his first 100 days? Partied at The Ranch. What do the Republicans in congress offer other than obstructionism? Tax cuts only. This time, that isn't nearly enough.

It's the people that matter. Not the politicians in Washington (who should remember they owe their jobs to the people). It's no longer about political power.

But he's still at it, and seems to be really trying to stay in touch with those of us who live more normal lives. He's being proactive, rather than the hands-off approach we've become used to.

Government can't and shouldn't do it all, but a government that does nothing to help the most desperate of its citizens is not a government I want.

I certainly hope all the theatre is deservng of this bill since the President is staking his Presidency on its success. There will be no time to recoup should it fail and the nation may not survive failure. I guess I'm simply too old fashioned opting for the simple no-frills just get it done approach versus a ceremony. Probably why I'll never even meet a President.

This is a great way to start this administration!! If Republicans cannot deliver on their promise to work with the President ,then the President should deliver his messagr through the people! We've had 8 years of disastrous policy and in less than a month of office this President has committed to doing something about it! Why are the Republicans doing everything in their power to mess thing up! I have a big warning to the Republicans! IF YOU DONT COOPERATE IT IS GOING TO BACKFIRE AND IT WILL SHOW IN THE NEXT ELECTION ! Thanks for bringing the change that you promised Mr. President!!

The country is in a mess because for eight years Republicans behaved like Democrats (spend and borrow – let our kids pay for it). Now the Democrats can't help themselves and pile it on. The Republicans are now simply acting like Republicans should. Nowhere and at no time have any "stimulus" packages actually created lasting employment. The jobs disappear as soon as the "stimulus" is spent, but the huge debt remains. The Republicans know this. The Democrats do too, but don't care. We need to save and investment, not borrow and spend. Any ten year old can figure that out.

@ KAthy – wake up, those people, the hispanic McDonalds dude, and Henrietta Hughes? They were plants...planted to play on the fears of the weak and feeble liberals.....Obama is all about control, and will do anything to can control over our lives, and that gives him power...his ultimate lust.....you libs are totally blind, and when he has all your medical information, your bank account information, knows every aspect of your life because he "helped," you, that's the point when he manipulate you....just like the CEO's....that's a small taste of incompetent, but manipulative government intervention.

If a republican spends money; building schools, hospitals, and giving out money;(ususally to the wealthy): That is being a PATRIOT. I thought it was being a Fascist. But when Democrats spend money on their own country, and help the poor; that is Socialism.

So dear republicans, go to that nifty country you illegally invaded. Live there. NO ONE wants your sorry behinds here anyway. Maybe Bushie could be your Prez again.

That's what we call a splendid PR style endorsement by Obama, when he puts his John Hancock on the bill. He is hoping it will send a powerful message.

Message it will send, but what remains to be seen is how far the octopus of the bill unleashes its tentacles so as to reach the intended targets of economic aggrandizement. Let's hope and pray it happens, and let's not continue to bash up the bill. The GOP does that with utmost grace.

I am a Democrat and frankly I could care less about who got us in this mess we are in. Right now my concern is getting out of it. Now I know Republicans want to do it their way and Democrats want to do it their way and this is good that so many are offering ways out of this mess but the point is that we have a leader that wants to point us in a direction out of our problem. He may or may not be pointing us in the right direction. No one knows because we have never been here in our lifetime. What I do know is that standing in the middle of a burning house having arguments over which door to go through to get out while it continues to burn is the same as laying down to sleep while we wait for the end to come.

Well I will not lay down and I do not want our elected officials in Washington to hold us all here because you cannot all agree on which door to go through. If you cannot work with our leader then sit down and wait while the rest of us TRY to get out of this house. If we do manage to get out of this burning house we will send someone back to collect your remains and give each of you a proper send off on election day in 2010.

First stop digging on the republicans. The fact that this bill was packed full of pork just goes to show that politics was being played on both sides.

Second, Just sign the bill. You know things are hard around the country, we know things are bad around the country, it's bad. We Know. Solve the problem, and deal with foreign issues too, we don't need you wasting tax payer dollars to secure Denver for you to make a political statement. Its good to get out of the nation's capital of lobbyists. Let's see, how many congressmen will they be able to buy on the next piece of legislation? Bankers get the prize for most influence having the audacity even to try to influence the public. The latest public gimmick: "a BRAIN DRAIN" will result if bankers get zillions instead of gazillions in pay. What a joke - these idiots created the biggest economic disaster in history and want to pretend they are talented. President Obama has moved fast enough in politics that the lobbying factor may be no more than half and half. (that is, half lobbying influence and half voter influence). This would contrast with Bush at about 98 percent lobby influence, voters 2 percent. I wish Obama well - he is the last chance for representative government.

I think it is great that our president is putting this stimulus bill to work for the states out west but what about Vermont? I was a foreman at a machine shop and I have been laid off for 4 months now. I see nothing in this bill that will help me regain work. Furthermore I do not see much action from a president who spoke about so much about change during the campaign. America needs a HUGE jump start, why not rebuild our roads and create some well paying jobs for real hard-working americans. $20/hr or more is what we need to support our families, not minimum wage.

Regardless as to whether we agree with all the specifics of the bill, something has to be done in an efftort to fix what has been so obviously broken. I support Obama, but this pushing the bill through without the 48 hours promised to the People, for the sake of Transparency, was worse than a Bush move. Bush would have just done it without any promises, now Obama and the party has lied and pulled a "old Washington" move. Running around like it's always a time for a stump speech isn't going to change what just happen. Ed's Kate....Have you even read the bill. I think something should be done, but building Frisbee golf courses and giving money for obesity and to stop smoking are pet projects and pork, not stimulus. Obama said he was for change and that he didn't want to repeat things that have been done during the Bush administration. If that is the case, and according to you and Obama the republicans are responsible for our debt because of their spending, then CHANGE would be to not spend so much money, not to spend as much as you can as fast as you can. This bill is nothing more than democrats rewarding all their special interest groups while trying to scare the American people into supporting it. The only reason Obama wanted Republican support is so he would have someone to blame when it failed.

Well, considering it was the deregulation of lending requirements enacted by the 95th congress in 1977 which was democratically controlled, I think it's safe to say Bush didn't do that. It's called the Community Reinvestment Act. Try a little further back than the last eight years... I am not saying Bush was perfect, he was far from it, but if you are going to lay blame, why don't you put it where it's due? Barney Frank stifled regulation of banks on numerous occasions. Most recently at the congressional hearings for Freddie and Fannie in either 2001 or 2003. This isn't the only cause, but the CRA and Franks blantant disregard for bank lending regulation pretty much set in motion the entire subprime mess.

I am a Denver resident, and so am very pleased to learn that President Obama has selected this city as the signing site. It's a great honor for us. Like many Americans I was excited by the election results, but disappointed by the same old rhetoric now spewing from Washington. Is it really that difficult to put differences aside for a while until we all get back on the rails? Honestly Nancy, do you have to chose now to get back with all the conservatives that upset you over your tenrue? It's not about you or anyone else that has a finger on the button – it's about us, the people you represent. As a small business owner looking to grow and create jobs I can attest to the fact that no money has flowed down from the mighty banking institutions in this country to those of us on the street. This so called "stimulus package" is good for headlines, but if it doesn't hit the streets for another 12 to 18 months then what's the point. All tax payers should be do the math and understand that the interest rate that we are charging the auto industry and banks is a heck of a lot less than what they are charging us for a new car loan or small business loan – that is if you can get one. Make no mistake, there are people making plenty of money in this economy and still enjoying the steak dinner out with clients. But for the rest of us trying to make monthly bills and payroll, there still seems to be a disconnect between our saviors on the hill and the rest of us, regardless of their good intentions.

Not being a math genius or economic wizard as so many profess to be but ho about doing a bit of simple math? 787 Billion and there are like hmmm according to the last census 286 Million in this country. Lets round it up to 300 million. You want to really stimulate the country, five Every single man, woman and child a million dollars. He will still have 786.5 billion dollars to do as he sees fit, the country will all be millionaires and spending will hit the roof. Whats wrong with this plan? No one will fel like they have to work again for the rest of their lives. Bad? You tell me. It will make a very happy wouple of generations, If the 786.5 is banked and earns interest at the current rate even, we should be able to do the exact same thing in about twenty years. The world will love us because we live so extravagently and all will be well Isn't this where America has always wanted to get to? After all to make everyone in the country a millionaire cost so little compared to almost a trillion dollars. Come on, we are waiting on THAT check. LOL, fat chance though, it is too simple and straight forward.

The press, including CNN, continue to underestimate the president and push the Republican talking points, while the president fans out into the country to hear and see the actual suffering of Americans.

CNN and others are fixated on this premise that the president failed at bipartisanship. Little do they know that people like me, who are unemployed see a total different picture.

CNN is reporting that the states will take their time to use the aid in this stimulus bill. You wonder about their cracker jack reporters, who don't even know that there is an amendment that requires each state to start spending the money within 45 days.

But no, CNN and the media are fixated on whether this president failed. That his plan will not work.

Have we heard them once ask the Repbublicans for a coherent alternative plan? No. Are they going to ask the Republicans if they will accept the money or not? To his credit, the only one I've heard ask that question is Wolf Blitzer. But Wolf and his colleagues are all inthe same boat, fixated with who won or lost today.

Perhaps if any of these people were in dire straits like those of us unemployed without health care, they probably would be asking the right questions.

Another "out-of-DC" trip coming soon: Obama plans to announce the details of his program to aid in preventing foreclosures this coming Wednesday in Arizona. That state is supposed to be one of the hardest-hit by the tidal wave of foreclosures; it is also of course the state Senator John McCain is elected from. McCain has in recent days turned from his early stated goal of supporting the president to being a harsh critic. It will be interesting to see how he handles this particular program from the administration, after being unveiled before his own hurting constituents.

The GOP was never concentrated in the stimulis but in the contrary interested to feed the public that Obama is not capable to save them by using propangada rising to diminish the surrounding of PREZ OBAMA . They want to play the Mccain failed game when he suspended his campain by showing that he was wroking on the Morgage Crisis. this is a win for OBama and if he win another legislation or this stimulis appear to be elevating our economy the GOP will be running for cover and will never recover until something really happen . Bottom line, they want Obama to fail by pushing the stimulis in their way to get credit in order to push Palin or Jindal for 2012. They even tries to elect Mr Steeler to lead the party which in other he wont even be serving in the board or maybe not even accepted in their meeting. HYprotical Steeler is a patsy and he dont know it . he thinks they really want him . wake up Brother !!! they are using you . REPUBLICANs are far to accept blacks in their party . but waht do we know . they will sale the mpther's house to get what they want.
sheers the stimulis and god bless all american without exception .

Have any of you even read the bill.

If this email makes it to a post, let me ask you some questions Ed's Kate, tell me specifially why the Republicans are arrogant for letting their voice be heard regarding this spending bill? Are they not entitled to their own opinions and vote? Also, tell me how this mess we got ourselves into isn't equally upon the shoulders the democrats? There's no evidence that allows the blame to be put solely on republicans for this economic mess. Please Please Please give me an answer.

Who got us in this mess? Both parties share in this, as do Americans who thought living beyond their means is a good thing to do. How about asking Barney Frank about forced lending and Fannie Mae & Freddy Mac?

Who has really had time to look at this shopping list you and I and our kids will be paying for? What happened to the 48 hours we were promised to look at this monstrosity? What about our President's pledge to wait for 5 days until he signs a bill? He was the one who demanded 40% tax cuts 60% spending – this bill is 27% tax cuts, the rest spending. And by the way, there is NOTHING in this stimulus for small business – the "Real long term solution to this economy (Obama, January 2009).

How about cutting payroll taxes on small business and personal tax cuts instead of spending for the first year? Then, head up these initiatives. I give this "Stimulus bill" a 10% chance of working.

Kudos to the three Republican Senators who stood up to their own party and voted to get this debacle resolved and back on the road to recovery...I am a Maine Democrat, and you better believe that I vote for Collins and Snow every time they come up for re-election. I can promise you that now that their own ridiculous party is planning on "expending every effort to make sure they don't get elected again," I'll be joining every effort to keep them in Washington. They are two women who vote with their heads and hearts, irrespective of their own party's threats. The economic stimulus plan may or may not work, but Specter, Collins, and Snow are at least willing to try a new direction, rather than letting partisanship grind us all into the ground. When is the rest of the Republican party going to stop being part of the whining and start being part of the solution?

I have decided to foreclose on my house. Not because I can't afford it, but because I feel I deserve to be bailed out just like everyone else who was irresponsible. There was nothing in this stimulus package to protect or reward the people who were keeping it legit and worked hard.

I wish I could share in the optimism of the others who have left comments. I don't think this stimulus bill will stimilate the economy at all...and certainly not this year. I sincerely hope I am proved wrong! The sad thing is that I don't think half the folks of voted yes for this even read it...we deserve better than this. There should have been a 2 week period or so that it could at least be read! There is so much pork in there it is sickening. This is a bill that will effect us for generations to come...so I pray that it does something to help the economy but I have serious doubts that it will!

I have been unemployed for 8 months and there are no jobs at all in my industry. It is impossible to career shift when so many other folks are also out of work. I have 8 weeks of unemployment benefits left and President Obama has been true to his word to help us and the economy so far. This stimulus package will extend the unemployment and hopefully jobs will open or and I will not loose my house which is all I have left after loosing my company, my entire retirement nest egg and all of my personal savings. I have watched this happening since April 08, having lost almost everything, I has been at a loss as to how to know what to do next. The hopes of many Americans ride on this new president.

Coming back to Denver? Wow, we must have had an impression on him. Yeah, though, we've been pretty hard hit by the economic crisis. Everywhere I go I see businesses going out of business, and the number of homeless is way up. Even the kids I teach are feeling it... badly.

I wish I could go there and shake his hand. I'd love to talk to him about education and health issues (I'm teaching while studying for my board exams in medical school). I'll leave the economy to those who are more experienced in that area than I am. Still, those all tie in. I know I feel the crunch when I can't afford my medical copays and deductibles.

I'm grateful for all Obama is trying to do for the country. He may have one of the most difficult presidencies in history, due to the legacy left by the Bush administration. Well, not the most difficult. I think Lincoln still leads that witht he Civil War, but it's definitely going to be an extreme challenge.

  168. Wall Street boys take advantage of Obama's inexperience....

The boys on Wall St. made a fortune the past few years (and still got big bonuses this year) because they invented something called "financial engineering" in the housing/mortgage business.

When the house of cards collapsed, they ran to the gov't for bailout money and convinced the naive Obama that if they didn't get bailed out, the sky would fall. Obama panicked and spent our childrens money to save them.

And life goes on. The Wall St. gang is saved and can start on their next "financial engineering" game while the average American is either losing his house or has a mortgage for more than the house is worth.

Obama is a boy playing with men and they took him to the cleaners and us as well.

Judy, the bill has not been on line for a couple of weeks that will be signed. It was only available in rough draft the House and Senate on Thursday night. Plus, the House members did not have a copy of the Senate version and viceversa. He promised 5 days and it will not be such so stop apologizing for eveything he does wrong. It seems Obama has forgotten that he won and the campaigning can stop. Maybe we can start comparing him to Bush in how many days he is in the White House and how many he' isn't...Democrats used to love doing that. When is our President going to stop campaigning? He is NOT selling the stimulus bill - he is already running for 2012. And that is what the Democrats in the Congress are doing with our tax money - buying votes. The POTUS' office is in Washington D.C. and not in Elkhart or Ft. Myers or Denver. How much is his running around the country costing us? Has any one done an analysis of the percentage of the spending that will be going to those states that voted for President Obama versus those states that did not? It would be interesting to see those results. I want him to be successful, but not at the price we and our children and grandchildren are going to have to pay.

The Republicans in the House are unethical hypocrites who think that Americans have forgotten who drove this country into the ground. Why didn't they prevent Bush from distributing no-bids contracts to Bush/Cheyney friends for contracting in Iraq? Cost: $1 trillion. And what did we get for our dollars? Under-equipped armor, underplated troop carriers, and showers that electrocute soldiers. It's totally unethical! Why didn't the Republicans complain that Bush was mortgaging our children's future when he $2 trillion in tax cuts to the wealthy and the connected? As big as it is, this stimulus is chump change compared to what 8 years of Bush cost us.

I also do not understand the big push to get the bill approved by Congress if Obama is going to wait to sign it. Myabe he figures the delay counts as his promised five-day waiting period.

Here's the problem with the waiting period – what good does that do the American people? We have five days to read a bill that we can basically do nothing about. Sure, we can write Obama, hope he reads our opinions and signs or vetos based on what we say, but what are the chances that is going to happen? I don't believe he would read all the responses any more than I believe that he is reading the bill and doing line-item vetoes.

Our only hope with the waiting period is that the President vetoes and the bill goes back to Congress where our voices can be heard again. But we already know that isn't going to happen, so what's the point of the five days? I can't believe people actually bought that rubbish about transparency in government. Sure, we can see what they're doing, but if we can't change it, it's basically showing the condemned man the noose you're going to hang him with.

Do you consider improving education pork? Is rebuilding our deteriorating infrastructure pork? Just one of you, please tell me specifically what in this bill is pork. The only thing in this bill that will do little to help our economy is the tax cuts. The republicans have no ideas on how to fix the economy except for more tax cuts. Feeding their children this crap instead of better quality food. As I check out these people, I cannot help but get upset with their selections...Afterall, I am paying for this. And now we are going to extend their benefits longer. This government needs to place restrictions on what can be purchased with food stamps. Chips and dip is not a good dinner!!!
My next gripe is when I did have a position open, the applicants would all ask me the pay first.. If it didn't meet what they are currently getting on unemployment, they did not want the job. These people don't want to work. They want to make the bigger bucks instead of getting one or more part time jobs... Jobs are out there....they don't want to work!!!

O where shall I spend my partial rebated extorted $1.10 a day?
    Um, a Car?
    A house?
More like a 1/2 a gallon of gas.
Can ya feel the stimulation? No? Maybe next year.
Makes me wana run right out to the bank and borrow our own money at a ridiculous interest rate to pay for the car we paid to make.
    I bet I do....

O, I know, I can spend it on the Cigarette Tax increase to fund someone else's kids health insurance even though I own no such policy myself. At least they did remove the lawn and rubbers, so they say.

Even though water is transparent, ya can't see the bottom of the ocean. Wonder whats down there?
When does the 5 day preview start? Don't tell me another "If elected I promise...." lip movement thing.

    @Annie and Floridian ... regarding Obama's travel expense ...
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is what our elected officials are supposed to do .... meet with constituents .... so they need to travel. Obama's visit to different places across country is very essential to uplift people's spirit especially in very economically depressed parts of the country. Also, during these visits he is outlining on how his plan is going to work for them.

Regarding your gripe about the cost of his trips ... it certainly will not be as much as hauling Bush back and forth from his numerous vacations in Crawford, TX. Just thing about it before you post asinine thoughts.

I am a Democrat and an Obama supporter – a real minority in Oklahoma- the reddest of red states. Out of 7 in our congressional delegation only 1 had the sense to vote for the stimulus – the only democrat in the bunch. I applaud President Obama's efforts to save our economy.

Barbara Graham: When the Republicans were in complete control of our government for 6 years and made absolutely no efforts towards bipartisanship during the last 2 years, did you also quote George Washington and warn us about "one party domination"?

I really doubt it ... why not just admit you don't like Obama for any other reason than he's a Democrat.

I see the Republican paid bloggers are busy this weekend. Actually only about 4-5 people, each using many various names. What jerks !

I think the president is doing the best he can in a month ... remember republicans during Clinton we had a surplus, bus dug us into a hole there is not a shovel big enough or a back hoe with enough horse power to dig us out of this Bush mess so I dont think Obama can fix this in a year but we can get us closer out of the mess ... look at how Bush messed up last bailout i cant believe there is still people who believe that Republican crap and 'YES WE CAN' change the world

P.S. I believe in that package and Obama's plan and also evolution because I am a smart informed person...

We have no one to blame but ourselves. Look around you. Most have so much in materal stuff. We have mismanaged our lives. Greed has taken over our lifestyles. Sure we loved to see that 401K taking off but the books that got cooked to make that happen have closed. We as Americans can fix this thing. Just have to pull together and be greatful for what we do have. God Bless America !

It is at least a half-socialist bill that does not stimulate economy and instead it fills up the pockets of special democrats' interests. No wonder all democrats support the bill, while other 50% of American people do not support it.

Thank Bill Clinton and his admin for forcing lending companies to offer loans to low-income/bad credit people. Now, those of us who have tried to live within our means must bail you out.
Obama, yo homie, cut business taxes and allow them to afford to offer jobs instead of taxing me! Stop giving ACORN and your goonies payoff moneythrough this "stimulus"! I wish states would refuse your bailout and stop paying federal taxes to a government that is irresponsible. Support local government!!! Oh, and why don't you tell the American people about the anti gun rights that you've slipped into this spending package, pres!

This bill is a joke. 1000 pages of rhetoric designed to make us feel better. Those of you that think this will change anything are fooling yourselves.
Those of you blaming Bush are naive, the GOP and Bush were telling Congress in 2003 that there were problems with Fannie and Freddie and Barney Frank got up and said it was scare tactics and everything was fine. If anything they should be given more room to do what they do. Well, what happened to Fannie and Freddie because Congress chose to do nothing? They failed and the economy with them.
We need economists to fix this mess not lawyers and politicians.

Is Obama flying by himself to Denver? To me that is a waste of my tax money and not very green to fly across country to sign a bill that is on his desk.

I am loving the February agenda. Obama is the people's president. A working man, a man of action. Remember when he said it doesn't hurt to listen to those that disagree with you and to really try to compromise, but when others are being unreasonable and unwilling to work, you CAN brush them aside? Well, yes we can. Remember, cspan will cover healthcare and we will see who carries water for the people.

This stimulus bill may not work 100% as expected, but it will help alleviate this nation's problems. At least President Obama is trying the right things: create jobs, extend health care, improve infrastructure, further education and training etc...
This bill will help lift this country from eight years of destruction from George Bush. George Bush should start writing a book, and entitle it "Mission Accomplished: America Destroyed".
Millions of citizens in hardship must not be joking matter to George Bush. Wars must not be games for him to play. George Bush must be tried and punished for negligence, deceit, and war crimes.
Gosh, I wish those shoes hit him in the face. That shoe thrower must be freed from jail. He is a hero, not only to Iraq, to the Muslim World, but also to the entire world.

Where is the civility among Republicans? Have can they not admit they got us into this mess with all their trickle down therories and deregulation? Then they whine that President Obama is not being nice enough to them. Gimme a break!
