Sources: Obama to sign stimulus Tuesday in Denver

President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two officials said Saturday.

President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two officials said Saturday.

(CNN) - President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two senior administration officials confirm to CNN.

Both officials cited a desire to get out of Washington - to go, in the words of one official, “out west in an area hit hard economically, away from the politics of Washington.”

The other official described Denver as “a place that will see the benefits of the bill in hiring workers.”

Obama traveled to areas hit hard by the economic downturn last week, holding town hall meetings in Elkhart, Indiana and Fort Myers, Florida. He met with workers at a Caterpillar plant in Peoria, Illinois on Thursday, after the company announced 22,000 layoffs.

Yeah President Obama!!! He has communicated more with the American people in 3 weeks than GWB did in 8 years. President Obama is doing an awesome job, especially considering the current environment. The haters out there are just negative people who are searching for things to be angry about.

Any one that thinks this bill is even remotely good for our country is someone that just wants more entitlements, you are the people that are dragging us all down to your level and who got us here in the first place.I can not really blame you though ,this is what you were promised as payment for your vote,I hope the $400.00 you are going to get paid is worth your selling the rest of us down the river. Acorn and the unions look like they were well paid with the billions of dollars earmarked for their votes too.

I know we need to make an effort to do something....but truth be told if you had taken the time to trust God and read the book of Daniel and the Book of Revalation....as well as stick to the principles that God outlined for living...we would not be facing this. I would like to have the confidence in this bill and know it will appear to be working initally as that is how it's designed.....but it won't last..it can't ..there is no balance in the economics of it...we are going suffer for sure...but there is a way out . Unfourtunatley too many people have turned a blind eye in their vanity and so called science to discount God who existed long before any big bang....He grieves to help us...but our free will has stoped him from acting.

Obama wants to go "out west in an area hit hard economically, away from the politics of Washington" to sign this bill. Isn't that bring his politics to Denver? This guy is unreal.

If Obama was a man of his word, he would go to the American public, read off the pork in the bill, and refuse to sign it until it was cleaned up.

You yanks will get cranked by this guy. The damage will take 50 years to reverse.

Is broadband your expertise? Agriculture? Dams? Are you into free enterprise? If you are, and you can't find a way to make money off this stimulus, then you are stupider than the bankers who got us into this fix.

All I hear are the GOPigs in Congress, complaining about how they didn't get a chance to read the stimulus bill! Then how the HELL are all of them able to go to the Cable Chatterboxes and complain about what's in it????? If you haven't had a chance to read it, how would you know what to complain about?????????

Ok, the house had 3 hours to review and sign. The senate had 1 day to review and sign... Where is the 4-5 days to review, before he signs from his campaign promise? He said he would push for change, to show that this kind of government is different... Sorry, just because your strip is different, doesn't mean that you are not a skunk... Change? Yeah right...

Well im glad this country will be bork until my grand kides, kids grow old. This is the crazyest, quickes, lagest thing we have ever done as a country. The people need help, but we need to think about the great amount of dept this is. I think more details of the plan need to be debaited over. But Obama has made up his mind. And God help us all.

He gets it. Those inside the Beltway, including Republicans in congress, do not.

We, the People know full well that because Bush and the Republicans believed in doing nothing and regulating nothing, we find ourselves deep in this economic mess. This is one of the reasons the people elected Obama. Americans appreciate that at least Obama is trying to do something. What did Bush do in his first 100 days? Partied at The Ranch. What do the Republicans in congress offer other than obstructionism? Tax cuts only. This time, that isn't nearly enough.

It's the people that matter. Not the politicians in Washington (who should remember they owe their jobs to the people). It's no longer about political power.

So, this stimulus bill was important enough to try to rush it through legislation, keep the vote open until late Friday so every Senator could vote (making one fly back to DC from his mother's wake!), but it can apparently wait until Tuesday for the President to sign it at the perfect photo-op?! Good thing the "politics of fear" from the last 8 years is gone.

Come on now... I know that there are some sensible democrats out there that know this is bogus... THEY DIDN'T EVEN READ OVER THE BILL!!! If they would have read the bill as soon as they received it, they would have had to read 641 words per minute... Not humanly possible!!! People, this is not about being democrat or republican anymore... Our country is being driven straight into the ground by our representatives!!! These next four years, I hope we the people can come together, because our officials sure are not going to... I think we will find out, it is up to us to save this country from corruption in government! Our politicians fail to put country first during a time politics need to be tossed aside... Admit it or not, Bush got us into this mess and Obama, the House, and the senate are not going to get us out!!! History repeats!!! It is time

Looks like Little Boy Blue tried the the CHANGE thing on Republicans, and got stung a bit. at least regular Americans did, probably not our well-off president.

Obama gave up a lot to get the Republicans to play his game. And guess what?! It didn't work. All the things Democrats gave away to get 3 votes – wow. I want to play cards with that man!

May the good Lord bless President Obama and give him courage and strength to stand up to any kind of opposition in the service of our great country and its people! Let us all work together to help him restore the American spirit and the great name of America in the international community. America (for that matter any nation) is invincible when its people work together to build bridges and not tear each other apart.

If Obama had any sense, or any courage, he'd veto this insane spending spree and tell Nancy Pelosi to try again, this time without all the pork, political payoffs, and pandering to the country's whining losers.

    Good for Obama!

Leave the cry babies, whiners, stimulus bill throwers, in Washington to drive each other crazy and tell lies.

I am talking about the ObstructiPubs, of course!

  22. no matter what you think of him...

You gotta admit the guy is sincere, even if you don't agree with his views. If he was after fame and power, he's got it. He could do like some presidents have and put his feet up and coast for the next four to eight years now that he won the election and has been guaranteed a spot in the history books. But he's still at it, and seems to be really trying to stay in touch with those of us who live more normal lives. He's being proactive, rather than the hands-off approach we've become used to.

Government can't and shouldn't do it all, but a government that does nothing to help the most desperate of its citizens is not a government I want.

I certainly hope all the theatre is deservng of this bill since the President is staking his Presidency on its success. There will be no time to recoup should it fail and the nation may not survive failure. I guess I'm simply too old fashioned opting for the simple no-frills just get it done approach versus a ceremony. Probably why I'll never even meet a President.

This is a great way to start this administration!! If Republicans cannot deliver on their promise to work with the President ,then the President should deliver his messagr through the people! We've had 8 years of disastrous policy and in less than a month of office this President has committed to doing something about it! Why are the Republicans doing everything in their power to mess thing up! I have a big warning to the Republicans! IF YOU DONT COOPERATE IT IS GOING TO BACKFIRE AND IT WILL SHOW IN THE NEXT ELECTION ! Thanks for bringing the change that you promised Mr. President!!
