(CNN) - During the first couple of weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has made good use of his "spiffy" new ride.
The president, who has made several trips around the country in Air Force One, was particularly excited during his first trip on the plane as commander in chief, when he flew to the House Democrats' annual retreat in Williamsburg, Virginia, last week.
"Thanks for giving me a reason to fly Air Force One," he told the House Democrats after his flight, which took him away from a week of fighting for the economic stimulus bill.
Donning a blue jacket with the presidential seal on the right and his name embroidered on the left, Obama came back to the press section of the plane shortly before taking off for Williamsburg.
"Hey guys, what do you think of my - this spiffy ride here?" the president asked the group of reporters traveling with him on the presidential plane.

Just how much does it cost taxpayers each time the President flies on Air Force 1? Couldn't there be a smaller more efficient jet to take the Prez on short excursions? Again, where would the reporters & secret service sit...
If you will not post this because you say this is off the topic, all the posts are in line with the economic package mentioned in the article so that view will not fly. You are trying to only promote one side of how America feels which would be in line with what the liberals have been saying about the right wing radio host. Are you going to be the 50's version of McCarthy which will tell us what to think and beleive?
Show me you a balanced NEWS organization that shows all views of America and post some of these comments. What are you afraid of that giving ALL Americans free speech will not fit into your agenda.
That is truely a nice ride. We would like to see him utilize more often to visit other struggling countries especially those mostly ignored by the presidents before him. We are, as we now always get reminded, one global enterprise.
It's refreshing to have a President who appreciates...... what others before him just took for granted.
President Obama deserves it. He is our hope and we are proud of our smart President.
Ok, even though I love the new president, he should know nobody uses the word spiffy anymore
It's a 24/7 job
And Mr. Obama is the man to do it.....
Glad to see is enjoying and using the perks of the job.
Still it is one of the hardest jobs in the world.
Good Luck Mr. President.
Amazing....just want it to keep him safe
At least he is doing Presidential business, unlike his precessor, who took it to Crawford to cut wood and look for bugs. Bush would get on the plane and hide like he did as president, and I use that term lightly, as least we have a President who isn't afraid of the "American People" and their views.
I am glad the President is enjoying his spiffiness while the rest of us is suffering and worrying about our jobs, or lack of jobs. Thanks Mr. Obama, I hope you and your rich hollywood liberals have a good 4 years.
So is that why he keeps taking trips all over the country to go stumping while avoiding staying in Washington and actually getting work done?
Mr. President I would sure love to fly on Air Force one once in my life. I sure bet it is a nice ride.
Too bad Obama decided to spend what it costs for his joy ride, when this trip was only 150 miles. That's well within range of the Marine One helicopters, which has a fraxction of the cost to operate as a 747. I guess he had to play with his new toy.
Dear President of the United States of America<
You clearly deserve and have earned this "spiffy ride" on Air Force One.
May you have many, many more "spiffy rides."
