Sources: Obama to sign stimulus Tuesday in Denver

President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two officials said Saturday.

(CNN) - President Obama will sign the economic stimulus bill Tuesday in Denver, Colorado, two senior administration officials confirm to CNN.

Both officials cited a desire to get out of Washington - to go, in the words of one official, “out west in an area hit hard economically, away from the politics of Washington.”

The other official described Denver as “a place that will see the benefits of the bill in hiring workers.”

Obama traveled to areas hit hard by the economic downturn last week, holding town hall meetings in Elkhart, Indiana and Fort Myers, Florida. He met with workers at a Caterpillar plant in Peoria, Illinois on Thursday, after the company announced 22,000 layoffs.

This bill cannot be signed soon enough as it is already very late. Many of the provisions are years past due such as energy conservation, environmental issues, advancing technology, improving infrastructure, etc... all items sorely ignored by the previous administration. By simply signing this bill, we may begin to catch-up to where we should have been years ago!!!

It's not like this bill hasn't been out there for weeks. It has and all those who are complaining about not having a chance to read it haven't been following it. Although the bill has changed and changed significantly, it still retained the character and form that that it was presented in the House. So don't give me the malarky that they didn't have time to read it and if you are complaining about you had the time to read it too.

It's emergency legistlation. Members of congress were on a short timeline. The bill is out there, read it.

Obama is not a lying sack of crap, but I'm guessing you listen to one or two on the radio. There are better places to focus your hate.

Obama is trying to help. I'm not seeing that out of any of the Repubs right now.

If it was such an URGENT bill why wait until Tuesday? Why didn't Congress have enough time to read it? What a hoax! obama is a liar.

I think it is so refreshing to see all these right wingers foaming at the mouth. I was an avid Hillary Supporter, and even considering leaving the space for president blank when I voted last November, and for the first time considered voting for a republican for president. But then, I thought, Hillary didn't make it, and a man who don't know how many houses he has, certainly can't understand my paycheck to paycheck exsistance. So I begrudgenly voted for Barack. and in just a month, he will sign in to law giving poor children health care, making it easier for women to get just compensation and now putting us on a path to economic recovery, at the same time getting us off the teat of OPEC. I must say, Obama is, so far doing way better than I thought, and I hope he keeps up the good work. And for all you mouth foamers who want him to fail, remember; your party and your moronic leader took us down pretty far, so far in fact, the only way to really go is up. It would be hard for Obama to fail. He is a smart guy, and I think he can manage to weave his way through the minfields that republicans are surely going to put in his way. So good luck wingers!

No, we're not going to "stand up" to Obama on the stimulus bill. We're going to stand up to Republican obstructionism. Republicans had control of the entire government for most of the first six years of this decade and control of Congress for 12 years. What did we get? Fiscal irresponsiblity and ethical lapses. Bush's tax cuts did nothing but add to the already huge deficit. Now, when the Democrats come up with their solution to our economic crisis, Republicans suddenly have discovered that we are running deficits and have a 10 trillion dollar national debt, much of which can be laid at their feet. They didn't lose seats because they weren't conservative enough–they lost seats because people are sick of the right wing's prescriptions for our economic and social life. It's been disgusting watching the nitpicking and carping by the GOP over this stimulus bill–it's not about legitimate criticism, but political gamemanship.

Hey, don't complain too much. If you don't want it, tell your governor not to take. No one is forcing you.

Part of the "stimulus" package calls for a cap on executive pay. I would suggest to all members of Congress, republican and democrat, senator and congressman, that they might not want to set a precedent of attaching pay with performance. We may start holding them to the same standard!

For all the negative comments we make, I think we could all take a dose of humility. We elected obama and the new congress because we wanted change. Now we need to let them do what we asked the to do. We do not have a direct emocracy-we have a republic. Characteristic attacks cheapen all of our valid points. The experts in economy don't know so how can us lay persons know? We have opinions but the are not facts.
