CNN Radio Political Notebook: The stimulus and Obama

The president's legacy may be defined by the success of the stimulus bill.
The president's legacy may be defined by the success of the stimulus bill.

A development just a third of the way through President Obama’s First Hundred Days may come to define his presidency.

In today’s CNN Radio Political Notebook, CNN's Bob Costantini talks with Professor Julian Zelizer of Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School, who lays out the stakes Obama faces following the passage of the stimulus plan.

In his commentary for CNN.com, Professor Zelizer wrote, “The huge size of this legislation raises the stakes beyond what many presidents confronted in their Hundred Days.”

Are we on the road to the Socialization of America? It seems to me the government is getting bigger (task forces) by the day . They want to gain control by virtue of providing Federal funding to various businesses that all seem to be involved in Unions. Why do we need the Unions anymore anyhow? At one time, they were necessary but have become part of the greed of the U.S.. Where are their concessions? The Democrats are merely buying their votes. "Buy America" also aimed at the Unionized steel industry. President Obama seems to have no trouble spending taxpayer money travelling all over the country when he can deal with these issues from the White House. It is amazing how the American people suffer while the politicians campaign for 2010 and beyond.

In 2 years, when the American people see what the liberals have done to this country with DEBT, they will kick BO and his crowd out of office.

Obama inherited two wars, already a huge deficit. If the Republicans don't want the stimulus and are concerned about the money being spent then their state doesn't have to take the money. The stimulus might not work but at least Obama gave it a try. He reached out to Republicans and they withdrew their hand. It is just getting really old to hear them whine.

Like it or not, he is our president now. He is human and he will make mistakes just like we all do. I believe though, that when this man makes a mistake, he will admit to it. That alone would be a welcome change in Washington. For the sake of the country, I hope his plan works. As for the GOP, I think that they are full of sour grapes. They didn't get thier way so they want to throw a tantrum. When my children act like that I make them sit and hold hands for 15 minutes until they can speak civil to each other. What say we try that in congress?

Thank God it is President Obama in charge and not the bitter old man who thought the "fundamentals of the economy are sound".

I guess he could have asked the half-wit and Phil Gramm for some advice...
