McCain blacklists The View?

The view co-hosts grilled McCain in September.
The view co-hosts grilled McCain in September.

(CNN) – Sen. John McCain just may have blacklisted the hit talk-show The View after a heated, somewhat confrontational, appearance on the program last September.

According to Barbara Walters, the show's creator and co-host, McCain told her at a recent Washington event he won't be appearing on the daily gabfest "any time soon."

"He had been on The View and was not very happy," Walters told a gathering at Syracuse University, according to Portfolio.com. "And when we walked out and I saw him I said, 'Senator, so nice to see you. I hope you'll come on The View again.' And he looked at me and said, 'Not anytime soon.'”

Appearing on the program at the height of his campaign for the White House, McCain was aggressively pressed on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's qualifications to be vice president, as well as negative campaign ads that several independent fact-checks had called downright misleading.

Walters specifically challenged Palin's reformist credentials, noting McCain has served in Washington for more than two decades and asking repeatedly, "Who's she going to reform, you?"

The Arizona senator is not the only member of the family who may have sour feelings toward the show. McCain's wife Cindy, after a contentious fall appearance of her own, declared that the co-hosts "picked our bones clean."

  1. Say What

AFTER WHAT BARBARA WALTERS DID TO JOHN AND CINDY MCCAIN, WALTERS HAS THE GALL TO ASK MCCAIN BACK ON HER SHOW? THIS WOMEN IS OBVIOUSLY SMOKING SOMETHING. THE ONLY WOMAN ON THE VIEW THAT IS INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO DISCUSS POLITICAL ISSUES IS ELIZABETH. JOY, BARBARA, WOOPPIE, AND CO ARE AS DUMB AS A POST. WALTERS IS A WASHED UP OLD GOAT AND HER BIAS TOWARDS MCCAIN AND LOVE FOR OBAMA WAS OBVIOUS FROM THE START. WHEN MCCAIN WAS ON HER SHOW, SHE PICKED HIM CLEAN. WHEN OBAMA WAS ON, SHE SAID "OH... YOU ARE A SEXY MAN" (TO OBAMA). HECK, IF WALTERS THOUGHT SHE COULD, SHE WOULD HAVE JUMPED OBAMA RIGHT THERE ON THE COUCH.

Shucks and I thought I'd be surprised. Ummmm Mr. "I'm going to work for bipartisanship" seems to be crawling back under the Obstructionist Republican Rock. Alas, maybe there will be a repeat
" McCain/Palin or Palin/McCain" 2012. Now I've made myself sick. I'll send my medical bill to CNN.

Good grief! He had the audacity to think that he could run the country, walking around holding grudges against President Obama is bad enough but the ladies of The View. Somebody please tell this old fool to go back to Arizona and sit on his rocker.

Great news for the View. Who wants to see a washed up, really old LOSER? McCain not appearing = less people turning the channel.

The fact that John McCain wasn't fully prepared for the reception he received on The View demonstrates one of 3 possibilities: 1) he wasn't adequately prepped by his handlers, 2) he had no idea what goes on at The View, and/or 3) he figured that a bunch of women wouldn't be any match for his disarming personality. From this, we can conclude that he was either ill prepared, out of touch with the popular culture of America, allowed sexism to cloud his judgement, or perhaps all of the above.

Bottom line...neither Barbara Walters nor the other panelists at The View should feel bad about John McCain's bruised ego.

Do people actually even watch this show full of idiot hosts? McCain should never lower himself to their level.

Can you blame him? He was treated with total personal disrepect and negativity on the show. Contrast it with Bill O' Rielly's treatment of Obama.

Well it's a good thing he is not the President. He can't seem to take the heat from a group of women, he may have broken down in tears if he had to speak with the leaders in Iran, North Korea or Russia.

Blaming the hosts for your own failed experience is weak at best.

Is there really any reason for him to be on again anyways? He made a poor choice & it cost him the Presidency. Deal with, Senator, & quit being such a sore loser.

McCain better keep to a well-scripted format. He can't handle controversy let alone have a thought of his own. McCain is strictly a Party guy who is well washed up and totally out-of-touch with the American people. . the voters proved that!

Who cares if John McCain appears on any show anymore. He got what he deserved on The View. If you can't answer the tough questions then don't run for president.

Gotta give McCain right here. If that group were a "view" it would be of an aging group of bitter "has beens." Barbara Wawa may have been something of a pioneer in her time, now she just looks like she was rode hard through the wild west and hung out to dry...and she certainly has a shoddy set of worn out props to bolster her ego. Does anyone know what any of these self-rigteous womenj did before they had a talk show for bored housewives? Oh, yes, Whoopi played in one or two movies...and the others?

I agree Barbara Walters is an old washed up joke. She has managed to ruin her reputation in the last few years after a lifetime in journalism. The View is extremely biased!! Obama and Michelle got kid glove treatment.

A show about a bunch of washed-up has-been chicks being catty, target to dried-up post-menopausal chicks who have nothing to do but be catty.

Wow, I'm totally shocked he won't appear on it.

McCain, even moreso Palin, was exposed as a fraud - something the country saw too! Now he has sour grapes for his horrible choice in running mate and is blaming it on the View?

I black listed that hen fest years ago. They all talk at the same time and sound like a bunch of useless gossips at the beauty parlor. The sad thing is they really think that their opinion matters. It's amazing that the show is still even on and that there's women who have so little to do in the middle of the day that they will waste an hour on such trash.
