Meg Whitman slams California budget

Meg Whitman said Thursday that California's new budget is not the solution to the state's fiscal challenges.
Meg Whitman said Thursday that California's new budget is not the solution to the state's fiscal challenges.

(CNN) – Meg Whitman, a Republican candidate for governor in California, is not a fan of the new budget just passed by the state’s legislature.

The budget “is not the solution,” Whitman said in a statement Thursday. “Instead of respecting taxpayers and championing job creation, Sacramento is increasing taxes on the middle class. The proposed budget will kill jobs, hurt families and make future deficits even worse."

Whitman, the former President and CEO of eBay, also opposed the nearly $800 billion stimulus bill recently passed by Congress and signed into law by the President.

If successful in her gubernatorial bid, Whitman will succeed fellow Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who praised the California legislature’s passage of the state’s budget.

The solution is simple if California wants to avoid a future budget crisis, it can become a democracy. By having the two-thirds requirement to pass the budget, what California has produced is a tyranny of the minority.

The GOP, our motto:.........Any plan that's not straight straight out of the Republican play book shall be criticized relentlessly even if we have nothing constructive to contribute ourselves.

Now it's time to quickly rewrite history and define anything not Republican in as negative a light as possible. We need to put our party and political agenda first, make sure we don't work with the otherside. Unify and show our opposition right from the get go and put the citizenry last. We got elections in just over 18 months you know.

The new Republican party is the old Republican party, party full of WHINERS and HYPROCRITES.

Funny, I seem to remember a press conference where she stood at McCain's side as his economic advisor (Mitt "Stormin Mormon' Romney on the other side) while McCain blabbered about how the bailout plan was necessary, etc. etc. She doesn't like the stimulus plan because it was done by a Democrat's administration. She doesn't like the CA budget becaue it was a Democratic legislature. Notice that Arnold, who cannot be elected governator again, supports the budget they came up with. Could it be she's pandering? Say it isn't so!

As much as I disagree with many parts of the stimulus package and the California budget, I do not appreciate any politician (or a wanna be pol in this case) who can only criticize but never offer any alternative solution.

As a Californian, I already know who I will NOT be voting for in the coming elections. Hint: It includes that woman in the picture.

Now the Republicans are eating their own. Governor Schwarzenegger worked hard to get this passed, even having to kiss the tush of his own party. What is it with Repubs that they don't recognize when money needs to be spent and fees need to be raised. I want to live in the land of the Repubs so I don't have to deal with reality too.

that is the only thing they know how to do,protests ,shout, scream, refuse ,say no and protest again, they never offer solution, only obstruct, obstruct and obstruct once again, and then claim that they are fighting for future generations that they have not yet set their eyes on instead of fighting to save the economy for those that are living so that they can at least have an economy to pass on to future generations ,but then they dont think that far only about themselves and their wealth. After putting america in this present mess they step back and criticise any solution that obama offers..........HE IS DOING TOO MUCH ,HE IS DOING TOO LITTLE.....when they create a stimulus package to build roads and bridges ...it is suddendly called socialism as if it is not our country that this money is being poured back into.they go to the television networks and say that they will not take the bailout money then go to trhe back and cant wait to get their hands on the money....well gop you cannot eat your cake and have it ...my opinion is that if you feel that the bailout money will not create jobs and that it is not in the interest of your constituents then ,and that you are self acclaimed conservatives THEN DONT TAKE THE BAILOUT MONEY OR YOU WILL BE SEEN AS HYPOCRITES WHO SAY ONE THING AND DO ANOTHER.and you know what republican governors and senators i know that you will take the money because you are all cowards that cannot stand up in your meetings and in fox news to say the thruth about how badly the economy needs this money.BLOODY HYPOCRITES.

    Here is a solution.

    Stop taxing business.
Stop spending money on illegals. No medical, no healthcare, no schooling, no college. Ship them out of the country. No safe zones.
Dont require business/s like home dept to build them an area to stand near the store.
Fine each business per offense for employing illegal workers.
Stop building golf courses in SanFran using tax payers dollars.
Cut general spending across the board.
Require work for welfare or any state benefits. Require work for unemployment.
Drill for oil and lower the cost of Gas in California as well as the country.
Change the SOLAR law so that NON UNION people can install solar panels and systems utilizing state programs and tax breaks.
Require the teaching of Math, Science, Reading, Writing and scrap all the other crap.
Require everyone speak english so that we have a common language. The common launguage is necessary for business to transact more efficiently. 2 languages do not work.

PLEASE, PLEASE GO AWAY!!! California DOES NOT NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU. SO PLEASE, GO AWAY – FOR GOOD. You will ruin California more than the present Gov. , whose name I refuse to say, if you are ever elected to any position in this state. When wil people like you learn that you CANNOT buy your way into any office.

New blood in Califonia? I'm surprised. Can you imagine a governor running the state like a business rather than a Hollywood movie.

So what's her solution? Republicans are very good at saying they're opposed to everything...why don't they ever tell us what their answers are? If she becomes the governor, will she reject any money that comes to California from the stimulus?

As a candidate, she better come out with something better than just an attack...she better come out with an A#1 solution that is better. Oh, that's right, she's Republican; she can just run on being that...

Hmmm... another Republican arguing that the stimulous isn't the answer.
Well, Meg, what do you propose? How would you solve all of these problems?
Let me guess. By cutting taxes?
That seems to be the go-to-answer for Republicans lately.
I'd love to hear one of them explain how tax cuts will turn around an economy taken to its knees by its financial system.
    Ridiculous.

For those thinking bigger government isn't obstruction, your probably the welfare recipient!
That was Bush's biggest down fall. He was a Democrat with the Republican handle. He was by no standard Conservative with anything.
That was his problem. He was Center left, when he should have been Right center.
    Makes sense to me.
