(CNN) – Michelle Obama continued her listening tour Friday, stopping at the Department of Transportation "simply to say thank you" to government employees and to push the president's $787 billion dollar stimulus plan. The DOT visit is the first lady's fifth and latest stop in her series of visits to government agencies.
The first lady, touting the stimulus bill as, “the largest investment in our nations' infrastructure since the interstate highways were created,” claimed the plan would “repair and re-build highways, expand access to public transportation which we all need, invest in high-speed railways which we all need, and improve our nations' airports.”
Mrs. Obama also told employees that not a day goes by that the work of the DOT "doesn't touch the lives of every single person in America."
"We rely on the airlines, the trains, the buses that are under your supervision to reach loved ones and to conduct business in distant places all over this country because of your work," the first lady said. "We can buy the products that make life comfortable and conduct the commerce that's the engine of our economy."
“Just know that we value you, America values you, and together we can get this country moving again," Obama said in closing. "We're going to need one another."

The hatred towards Michelle is unfounded. I get that people hate black women in America...it's a part of American culture. But I am democrat who had nothing but love and respect for Laura. She was a wonderful first lady. So is Michelle so far. I get that people don't like black women but for once just focus on what she does as first lady, not if you like her hips, hair or skin. Those criticisms or compliments can be reserved for her husband...who OBVIOUSLY love the way she looks and loves her mind. I know this is disturbing to many people.
Until and unless Michelle Obama addresses the nation on national TV - without equivocation or invoking her husband's run for the presidency - and can apologize to the American people - who afforded her her Princeton education via Affirmative Action sponsorship - just as they did her husband's Harvard education via Affirmative Action sponsorship - and can state that her "not proud of America" comments were brutally hateful - SHE IS AND WILL BE NOBODY. And all the designer dresses - and all the White House redecorating - and all the Michelle's mother/1st Grandmothr garbage, and ALL her appearances at government agencies to "listen" won't change A THING!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for Daniel in Merrillville Indiana, President Obama has been in office one month today. The terrible mess that "moved this great nation to oblivion" was done by none other than President Bush who just got listed as 37th out of 43 (that is 16 from the bottom) by presidential scholars. Our infrastructure has suffered, our basic rights compromised, trillions spent on an unjust, unnecessary war, huge debt....on and on. And W came into the office with our country in good shape. Daniel it was your man who brought this country to its knees. Nice of you to give so much credit to Obama that this administration could turn the country around in 30 days.
