Schweitzer wishes Palin showed up to NGA meeting

Gov. Schweitzer discussed his views of the stimulus and Sarah Palin's absence from the NGA this weekend.

(CNN) – Many of the nation’s governors descended on Washington for the National Governors’ Association meeting this weekend, but a famous face was absent: Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, who co-chairs the NGA's Natural Resources Committee with Palin, told CNN he wishes she was there.

"Fewer TV cameras will be there and I have to stay all the way to the end to report, so I wish she was here," Schweitzer joked on CNN's State of the Union.

But the Montana Democrat did not fault his colleague from Alaska for missing the NGA's winter meeting.

"Governors have to balance their job," he said. "These meetings are important, but in some ways, we come here and restate the obvious."

While Palin chose to skip the meeting this year, her appearance at it one year ago may have been pivotal to her future: it was when she first met Arizona Sen. John McCain.

You allowed people to call President Bush a Chimp on your boards for eight years but you don't allow people to call Obama a Chimp. Treat all presidents equal or get rid of your comment sections.

I don't see why CNN reports this. She's irrelevant.

The only person less intelligent than Sarah Palin is the one who actually owns a shirt that says Sarah!

Morons, all of you. You all should be so lucky to have a governor as good as her. At least WE all have jobs. No one is whining about being cold or hungry or played out by the Machine in Washington DC. , or the banks, or the stock market. Sure it's a little tight here, so what? My freezer is full, oil and water tanks are full, firewood is all stocked up, and the bills are all paid up. When the Democrats finally succeed in their grand scheme to change America, don't bother to come around looking for handouts. Try going to work, instead. Cut some wood, dig a garden, kill a deer. Oh, sorry, I forgot...you're all giving up your guns to the next Reich...

Don't ya get it? By being a "no-show" and a last minute cancellation, she's only drawing more attention to herself - that's all she's interested in at this point.

She was afraid that she might get asked questions by the media that she couldn't answer. She made a smart move by staying in Alaska. She wasn't concerned about staying home governing her state when she attended the Alfalfa dinner. And why should the left wing be afraid of her? She's the dumbest politician ever. And, speaking of the clothes Hillary and Michelle wear - they buy their own clothes; so they can buy what they want to. The GOP was paying for those pricey clothes that Palin was wearing. That woman is completely nuts and all politicians use a teleprompter - why you gotta complain about President Obama doing it. Don't hate, Congratulate - President Obama is one brilliant man!

Alaska already receives over $550 per person from the feds. That is more than twice the next highest for any other state. They get more pork than anyone else. The rest of us are funding Alaska, even if they are receiving oil money. Alaska doesn't need the stimulus money since Alaska is already getting money in the form of pork and handouts. Palin would be asked hard questions that winks don't answer if she would attend NGA. Sheesh . .. fiscal responsibility? Nah . . . Alaska gets too much money already. Responsible? Bridge to nowhere. Give their money to a state that needs and can use it wisely.

Jean – The day before Obama moved ahead of Hillary in the primaries the stock market was 13,010.

    Enjoy your change!

And that has what to do with this article? Please go back to listening to Rush Limbaugh until you can write something relevant.

The woman is an idiot. If a man came off like she did I would call him an idiot, but we already one of them in the White House.

I am from Alaska and there is a reason that we keep the politicians in Juneau with no road in or out and a thousand miles away from the rest of Alaska, We tell them that it is the State Capital and they flock there. Actually it is the Alaska Home for the Terminally Moronic down there. But we let them think it is the Capital and what they are doing is important. The rest of us take care of ourselves just fine and ignore those folks down there. Don't worry about Sarah she can always get a job at the Great Alaskan Bush Company when she is done playing Governor.

Smart, honest, no B.S , ethical, fiscally responsible and putting the people's interest first, not her own. All qualities that inspire fear in Democrats in washignton. A true threat to their corrupt way of life. She is also willing to go after the same corrupt people in her own party. The only person in washington that are not afraid of her are those that are doing nothing wrong and doing the job we elected them to do

"I can only hope your unemployment checks run out soon so you can be in the bread line with your families wondering how the next meal, tank of gas, house payment will be made by the chosen one. It's just sickening to read all this about a woman that probably has more gutts than any of you will ever have and the only way you can express yourselves is to say things unkind, unwarranted and ignorant"

I'll bet Suzi (a right wing nut) claims to be a christian and attends church every sunday, says prayers before every meal, before she sleeps and claims to be following the word of the Lord. People like her confuse me. Seriously. Why would anyone with any sense of decency "hope" that would happen to anyone? Kinda like she's calling the kettle black with the "express yourselves is to say things unkind, unwarranted and ignorant." SUZI, YOU ARE THE IGNORANT ONE.

    Hi Jean!

Say, who was the president when it was 13,000+? Obama and Clinton had nothing to do with the slide. It was all of Bush's fault and we should all thank him for his lack of leadership in the home country.

Obama just has to deal with and clean up his mess. No president wants to deal with crap like this.

CNN. You give Palin what she wants.... more air time. Stop talking about her!

As an Alaskan, I am not happy to see the governor out in rural communities, playing Lady Bountiful handing out, what, maybe a week's worth of groceries, with Jerrry Prevo (Alaska's incarnation of Jerry Falwell) and Franklin Graham (who I thought had better sense) in tow. Instead, I would have liked to see her proposing and supporting adequate social services, well-funded school systems and effective job training programs, which could have averted the worst of the very real rural crisis. The situation in rural Alaska is as dire as any in America; a few cases of canned good do virtually nothing to help. Palin should be in Washington with the other governors, setting aside partisan politics and making sure that Alaskans, along with other Americans, have a share in a workable economic recovery.

Hmm... Another story to try to distract us from the fact that Obama is ALREADY going to go down in history as the worst president since FDR. From not knowing what's in his own Executive Orders, to making a mangled mess discussing anything having to do with economics, you libs have put a mannequin in the White House.

You all can apologize to the rest of us any time now...
