Gov. Schweitzer discussed his views of the stimulus and Sarah Palin's absence from the NGA this weekend.
(CNN) – Many of the nation’s governors descended on Washington for the National Governors’ Association meeting this weekend, but a famous face was absent: Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, who co-chairs the NGA's Natural Resources Committee with Palin, told CNN he wishes she was there.
"Fewer TV cameras will be there and I have to stay all the way to the end to report, so I wish she was here," Schweitzer joked on CNN's State of the Union.
But the Montana Democrat did not fault his colleague from Alaska for missing the NGA's winter meeting.
"Governors have to balance their job," he said. "These meetings are important, but in some ways, we come here and restate the obvious."
While Palin chose to skip the meeting this year, her appearance at it one year ago may have been pivotal to her future: it was when she first met Arizona Sen. John McCain.
She has to figure out how to pay her back taxes and repay Alaska for funds she inappropriately billed them. I would be doing the same thing. Don't be too harsh on the poor thing.
The Republicans base is crumbling . . . no, no, has crumbled. When your savior is Sarah Palin and or Michael Steele, God is left far behind. Dead in the water! Gone are your glory days.
Come on, CNN-you're really stretching this headline, aren't you? You no sooner state that "Palin's no-show ruffles" some feathers, when you suddenly quote her Democratic co-chair, Gov Schweitzer, as saying her doesn't blame her. And that, in fact, the NGA "restate(s) the obvious."
Who's feathers are ruffled? Yours?
At least the NGA saved on having to pay the fees of a professional interpreter to turn Palin's unintelligble speech pattern into intelligble English.
John King picked two good examples of Governors who have a common sense, pragmatic approach to serving the people of their states for his State of the Union show. Schweitzer and Schwarzenegger both said much the same thing – it comes down to getting things done for the people and drilling through political posturing. Let's hear more from them!
Aw thanks Brian, but we're all happier when Sarah Palin stays put and out of the eye of the camera.
There were so many governors there that Palin probably thought that she wouldn't get enough camera time ;)
Now if she would just stay in Alaska for good, I'd be happy.
Sarah's too busy! She's saving the Alaskan people who have been literally starving for 5 weeks. She's baking homemade cookies for them. She's opening Frankie Graham's limo to distribute all 3 day's worth of yummy processed food. She's carrying his racist bible so his conversion numbers increase. She's putting on her pit bull $6,000 lipstick and nail polish to wave good bye to his multi-million dollar private plane. Yep, she's busy – you betcha. Wink, click, pander...
Why? So he can drool?
count that as a blessing to you guys.
Gov Palin is a fast learner. Obama's travel to Canada may have helped prioritize her work. I'm not sure if travelling around the country campaigning is what the President of United States should be doing. Governors have met couple times before. This is the time for action not galavanting on Air Force One across important States for the next election. Recall the president for a show of no confidence.
Not enough cameras for her.
Being one of 50 governors does not a diva make!!! She cannot cavort with peers and maintain her crown.
Cause he's a pervert!
And what would she have added other than another distraction? Yes she should have been there but one can't blame her for not showing: She would've been asked questions about that stimulus thing and the back taxes she owes.
if Gov Palin was half as smart as she is beautiful, she'd probably have a chance in 2016.
doesn't she have some taxes to evade
animals to shoot from a helicopter
govt. employees to fire who have slighted her
wow she is too busy to go
PALIN IS A RACIST IDIOT!
Excuse me... Does United States of America really needs Mrs. Palin? Keep her out as she is needed by her growing family and mooses...
Well, she's probably worried that she won't get per diem for the trip or that she might have to pay taxes on it if she does.
She's such an airhead – why bother to invite her at all?
Her 15 minutes ending? Let us hope, and pray.
Cue the horrible comments from horrible liberals.
In all fairness, there are meth labs to be built in Alaska, wolves to shoot from helicopters, and, of course, its snowmobile season.
Palin is posing for Playboy to help pay her back taxes for screwing over the Alaskan people.
Do you really think Palin works to "work" with anyone??
