Schweitzer wishes Palin showed up to NGA meeting

Gov. Schweitzer discussed his views of the stimulus and Sarah Palin's absence from the NGA this weekend.

(CNN) – Many of the nation’s governors descended on Washington for the National Governors’ Association meeting this weekend, but a famous face was absent: Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, who co-chairs the NGA's Natural Resources Committee with Palin, told CNN he wishes she was there.

"Fewer TV cameras will be there and I have to stay all the way to the end to report, so I wish she was here," Schweitzer joked on CNN's State of the Union.

But the Montana Democrat did not fault his colleague from Alaska for missing the NGA's winter meeting.

"Governors have to balance their job," he said. "These meetings are important, but in some ways, we come here and restate the obvious."

While Palin chose to skip the meeting this year, her appearance at it one year ago may have been pivotal to her future: it was when she first met Arizona Sen. John McCain.

Palin is trying to govern her state, I don't blame her. The Republican machine was not kind to her after she lost the race with McCain.

Palin has NOTHING to contribute; she's a Paris Hilton-like celebrity governor...except Paris Hilton is smarter than Palin and contributes much more to society.

Even had Palin been there, old chap, you'd still have had to do all of the talking as she knows nothing about energy.

Wow, it was important enough for her to go to the last one that she flew down there and stayed while she was in preterm labor with a special needs baby. You think it would be a lot easier to justify attending this year.

Let Palin Alone, She still afraid of meeting the Terrorist in Washington . How can she call someone she strongly insulted during the campaign ' Mr President ' ? Secondly, she doesn't like Muslims, then the third point is that . Alaska wasn't mentioned by Obama during his visit to Canada as she begged for? Lets wait in 8yrs when she may have a chance again.

Palin is in a no-win situation on these types of things. If she does not go, she is criticized for missing an important Republican party event that she supposedly needs to attend to be a serious player on the national scene. On the other hand, if she goes, many will criticize her for leaving her own state and its problems (budget, etc.) She might as well do whatever she thinks is best at any given moment, and let the chips fall where they may. (That's what all politicians should do anyway – follow what they believe is right, regardless of what their critics say.)

Maybe she saw the handwriting on the wall. You're a joke Sarah. Stay in Alaska with your snowmobile racing husband and your misguided kids. Oh, and Levi–run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

It only demonstrates Governor Palin has priorities, and given the importance of this particular meeting... well, she probably learned that there were no free shopping trips.

I think what makes me crazy is when I think that Governor Palin and Joe the Plumber defined the Republican strategy. I think that McCain decided that he really didn't want the job as president, and sabotaged his own campaign with Palin and then Joe: Two strategic torpedoes that hit dead center and blew up the Republican's delusional hopes. Anyone who thought that another Republican administration could win was nuts... and to that end those two happy wing nuts were just what was needed.

I wish they would just go away completely though, and take every last Republican with them. What ruin has been brought to our nation by these people.

About all Sarah Palin is noted for is attracting TV cameras.

Perhaps she was busy being a "maverick" or skinning a moose.

    You betcha.

We have seen far too much of Ms. Palin, she needs to fade away into the wilderness. Hopefully the GOP can find someone with better 'Family Values' than this Alaskan Hillbilly & her tribe. She is a two legged joke, was never fit to be a McCain's choice, will never be fit to run again.

What Obama says isn't always what Obama does. We'll see if he cuts the deficit in half ever. Isn't that the real story here. Taxes being raised and huge cuts in military spending to pay this off?

The mere mention of Palin's name and it makes headlines. Possibly she stayed away so she wouldn't make the headlines and she still does. Oh well., whatever floats the Dems boats.

Dumb does as dumb sees. She has plenty of exihibits to observe over time. It is really pretty hard to screw up rocks and she has an abundance to choose from.
