Schweitzer wishes Palin showed up to NGA meeting

Gov. Schweitzer discussed his views of the stimulus and Sarah Palin's absence from the NGA this weekend.

(CNN) – Many of the nation’s governors descended on Washington for the National Governors’ Association meeting this weekend, but a famous face was absent: Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, who co-chairs the NGA's Natural Resources Committee with Palin, told CNN he wishes she was there.

"Fewer TV cameras will be there and I have to stay all the way to the end to report, so I wish she was here," Schweitzer joked on CNN's State of the Union.

But the Montana Democrat did not fault his colleague from Alaska for missing the NGA's winter meeting.

"Governors have to balance their job," he said. "These meetings are important, but in some ways, we come here and restate the obvious."

While Palin chose to skip the meeting this year, her appearance at it one year ago may have been pivotal to her future: it was when she first met Arizona Sen. John McCain.

Why does everyone hate Palin so much? When everything goes straight to heck, starting in the urban areas, I'm sure Alaska is going to be just fine.

If Sarah Palin is the next best hope for the republicon party, they might as well hang it up right now.

The woman is a clueless, incoherent cretin - which means she fits right in with the GOP.

Republicans have moved past Palin. She should start her own party- the Theocratic Party where she can attract the Evangelicals who are dumping money on her in preparation for her 2012 presidential bid. I think, it would be the best thing for her. The Republican politics-first strategy of destroying the economy and the U.S.'s image in the world, and then blaming President Obama for everything without offering a suggestion will ruin the Party. She just needs to sway Faux News and blowhards like O'Reily and Hannity and Limbaugh and she's set.

She's trying to save her political butt but I don't think it's gonna work. I have a friend that lives in Alaska and she says that there is a rumble of impeachment being started because the people of Alaska are REALLLLyyy tired of Ms. Palin palling around with neo-conservatives. lol...Plus the fact she's trying to screw over the Alaskan tax payers.

Must be roaming around in her helicopter shooting wolves or hunting some poor animal. Or busy shopping ... Or, or, or. Frankly who cares what this woman is doing or not doing. Let her disappear from the news please.

Bible Spice Palin was probably too busy killing wolves from the comfort of her state owned helicopter. And most likely charging the state for her time. Dont understand why the media has not mentioned the hypocrisy of her "right to life" views yet she does not think twice about ending the life of an unarmed innocent wild animal with high powered rifle. So much for the respect for the sanctity of life.

was Gov Palin the ONLY one that was a no-show out of 50? If not then why does she get all the attention?

Maybe Palin has no mud left to sling at Obama and Biden. All that ugliness in the campaign left HER looking (and smelling) dirty. I would love to see someone like Kay Bailey Hutchinson be the governor of TX and possibly run for president some day. She's an intelligent woman we can respect, and I don't think she'd stoop to the disgusting tactics that Palin did, with McCain's blessing.

Palin tends to only bet on sure things with the press. One question she'd be asked was, have your paid your back taxes yet?

With falling oil prices, the finances of the average Alaskan have changed since last fall. Good time tend / mend fences at home.

So CNN, where are the stories about Bill Richardson? I mean, comparing the two governors, Palin was protecting her family by getting rid of a rouge trooper, Richardson was lining his pockets. The only reason you other tools on here bash Palin is because you are either partisan hacks, willfully ignorant, or just plain crude. I'd like to hear a response on that.

Of course Sarah didn't show up. A hot topic is Republican governors refusing stimulus money. Sarah has lied about refusing federal money and wants to avoid questions about that issue. In fact, she would do well to avoid questions entirely.

Aaaaaah yes, just think of all of the mundane and innocuous stories which would have sprung from such an important event. Curse us if we should let issues interfere with SaPa's words of wisdom.

  19. you betcha, Sarah

I'm sorry many of you feel as you do about Governor Palin. She probably didn't want all the media attention focusing on her because of her immense popularity during the campaign, All you Palin "dissers" get used to her because she may be leading the Nation one day and be a heck of a lot better than what we have now.

Do you run Palin stories just to prove how much your readers dislike her? Their keyboards will wear out from the poundings given them when these people slam her. The spirit of love and unity is sure alive and well, isn't it?

Why didn't Obama visit the wounded troops in Europe during his campaign swing through Germany ? Maybe HE had the rag on. Or the previous nights cocain fest was still lingering in his nose.

Or maybe he was acting like a neegra. You know....kinda like the "bimbo" word CNN posted below. Just as offensive.

Why are all the liberals so scared of Palin? They just won't leave her alone so they must be afraid of her for some reason. it could be because she is pro-life and maybe due to the fact that she is an NRA member or maybe they think she makes sense on a lot of things and are afraid to admit it. I'm sure I'll be crucified for these comments but you have to wonder. The liberals say we must unite but they never ever miss a chance to bash conservatives. Why can't we see the good and bad in both parties? There are good democrats and liberals and good republicans and conservatives as well as bad. Why do we have to be so divided?
