Schweitzer wishes Palin showed up to NGA meeting

CNN

Gov. Schweitzer discussed his views of the stimulus and Sarah Palin's absence from the NGA this weekend.

(CNN) – Many of the nation’s governors descended on Washington for the National Governors’ Association meeting this weekend, but a famous face was absent: Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, who co-chairs the NGA's Natural Resources Committee with Palin, told CNN he wishes she was there.

"Fewer TV cameras will be there and I have to stay all the way to the end to report, so I wish she was here," Schweitzer joked on CNN's State of the Union.

But the Montana Democrat did not fault his colleague from Alaska for missing the NGA's winter meeting.

"Governors have to balance their job," he said. "These meetings are important, but in some ways, we come here and restate the obvious."

While Palin chose to skip the meeting this year, her appearance at it one year ago may have been pivotal to her future: it was when she first met Arizona Sen. John McCain.

  1. Voted for Obama, and still happy about it!

    Why is this news????

Gov. Palin I'm sure has a demanding schedule, so she missed a meeting,,,big deal. Though I didn't vote for her or Sen. McCain I do wish folks would just leave her alone. We have more pressing concerns in our nation at the moment, let's put the pettiness aside.

I cannot believe the arrogance and ignorance of some people in the US, it is like Alaska is not the part of this country, you don't even know anything about this Great state and what the people of Alaska can offer the rest of you. Shame on you. I don't agree with Palin on a lot of things, I think she was the wrong choice for VP, but the woman is actually trying to govern her state and take care of her people. I bet some of you won't even be able to show Alaska on the map.

CNN must remove the sexist comment of Dick Delson below. I am going to push this out into the media within a few minutes. This language is not acceptable.

Palin may be an idiot, but she's no fool. Here, she would be just a face in the crowd. She's learned to not inject herself into any public situation over which she doesn't have complete control. Wish it weren't so, but we haven't heard the last from Caribou Barbie–she is too beloved by the right wing fringe nut jobs.

Palin could have at least arranged a video conference. So much for her expertise on energy!

Wait .... I think I get it: this conference would have been another opportunity for the world to see how unprepared and uninformed she really is!

So she didnt show, Its Obama that should worry you. All I can say to all the people who voted for him is.... I TOLD YOU SO.... with this great stimulus it will cause your taxes to go up and it will within 2 years.

All those welfare brats that voted for Obama will bankrupt this country along with the Obama stimulus. Businesses cant hire if they pay more in taxes, so when they pay more in taxes, they dont hire so the government gets what it wants, a country of people that depend on the government for their survial, (russia)... or another name for the people is welfare brats ...

and we have lots of them in Iowa....

Well, all of you giving negative comments about her should look at themselves first. All of you could be worse than her.

She co-chairs natural resources? You must mean the rape and pillage committee! Having Sarah Palin watch over natural resources is like having the fax guard the hen house. What a joke. So typical for the republicans!

It's just as well she stayed in Alaska. IWe don't need her working the press and making inane comments about ALL that she's done. Maybe she stayed away to avoid answering questions about her TAXES!

I watched a lot of the meetings on C-Span. There were some very bright govenors on both sides of the isle. I don't think she would have fit in. Just my guess.

Isn't she the Chairperson of the Energy Committee? Just goes to show that she doesn't hold up to her responsibilities. Besides, I think she 'got her little feelings hurt" that the repugs did not ask her to give the response to President Obama's speech. Poor Thing! Take your toys and stay in Alaska. The repugs have annointed Jindall. You, Palin, are a has-been.

She all ready owes so much taxes. She probably did not want to go because her kids could not go with her.

Palin trying to govern her state? She doesn't even live in Juneau most of the time. She stays in Wasilla with the other drug addicts.

Palin's probably working on trying to figure out how to deal with this stupid stimulus bill. Or wait, did the Washington insiders forget about Alaska? Let's hope so. That'll be one state we don't have to sell to China.

    PALIN TWENTY TWELVE!

I agree with Steve that, "Palin is in a no-win situation on these types of things..."

I really can't stand her, but fair is fair. If she had gone, people would say that she just wanted to stay in the spotlight and that she should stay at home with her kids and grandkid. I'm sure some will now say that because she DIDN'T go, she just wants to be in the spotlight! Her absence does appear to have generated one headline at least, right?

Why is Palin getting press? She's proven herself to be as dissociative as the rest of the GOP, and one tenth as intelligent.

It seems Pierre Podo is far removed from society. All Americans including the founding fathers are refugees. Regardless Palin showed her ignorance, political irresponsibility and diregard for anything other than than a specific kind of American. We don't need neanderthal Barbie and the hordes of pre Emancipation Proclamtion hangem high goons squads which seemed to follow her.

Please let this persons name fade into history so America can move on.
