Obama's first month marked by success and setbacks

President Obama, who won the presidency on a bipartisan platform, now faces a very divided Washington.
President Obama, who won the presidency on a bipartisan platform, now faces a very divided Washington.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - During the most contentious stretch of the Democratic presidential primary campaign last winter, then-candidate Hillary Clinton mocked Barack Obama for his pledge to transcend Washington's entrenched partisanship.

"The sky will open. The lights will come down. Celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect!" Clinton bellowed.

Obama dismissed Clinton's sarcasm as overly cynical and further evidence she was a creature of Washington. But as President Obama prepares to make his first major address to the nation, Clinton's comments are borne out.

For a candidate who won the White House on a mantle of bringing the country's two political parties together, Washington could not be more divided on Obama's initial weeks in the Oval Office and the policies he has put in place.

Contrary to the thought of those who were brain washed by the media, BHO is not God.
    --------
The only ones who seem to believe that President Obama is God are the people accusing others of believing so. Throwing around 'God' terminology may work among your own, but seems pretty silly once you drive past the Wal-Mart highway exit of your small red state hometown town.

The GOP isn’t going to work with the President on anything. That was already established on Election Night. No big surprise here.

The Republicans are showing themselves to be poor and sore losers who are obnoxiously and aggressively trying to fault, block and even sabotage everything Obama offers. Their arrogant efforts at being irresponsible obstructionists are ridiculous as it is simply true that Obama hasn't caused any of the problems and that the Republicans have no real solutions. All of the drastic and extensive problems we now have were passed to Obama by the self-focused, grossly dishonest and arrogantly irresponsible Bush-Cheney Republican administration who literally caused so many of the problems, added to more and condoned and ignored even more. To refuse to recognize those facts and instead to want Obama to fail (as Limbaugh stated) is as if having a childlike tantrum and being without any rational reasoning – it is being part of the problem. That mentality is and has cost us significantly and for that they should be held accountable. They focus on using all of their efforts and the power and influence of their backers to play the political games without ever considering the costs and that is really inexcusable self-serving irresponsibility, which we can't afford. Not only should G. W. Bush, D. Cheney and others be prosecuted to tell all future administrations similar behavior won't be tolerated but even more important, we must really avoid ever being conned into going that route again.

Oops! I should have done a better job of proofreading my post. The second paragraph should start:

If bipartisanship is NOT happening in Washington, it's the fault of the Republicans.

This is one of the most biased "stories" I have seen. If CNN wants to report that Republicans THINK that Obama is not being bipartisan, that is one thing. However, the author of this story specifically concludes that it is "true". That is bias any way you put it. It is also completely wrong, since it is Republicans who have repeatedly refused to cooperate with serious attempts at inclusion by Obama and the other Democrats (so that the Republicans can later claim to have been left out).

The myth of the "liberal media" is the biggest pile of hogwash that has ever been sold to the American public, and this "story" is proof. The MSM thrives on controversy. The only way that the MSM can get this controversy is by propping up the weakened and obstructionist Republican party, which is being done by throwing objectivity out the window.

America spoke on November 4, 2008. The majority said it wanted liberal leaders and liberal ideas and to pursue a different course than the GOP has for the past few decades. That was the result of an election, whic his to say that it was the result of America adhering to the fundamental tenets of our DEMOCRACY. That the GOP is refusing to listen and believes that the best course of action is to attempt to absolutely block abnd then mock everything being attempted by those in the majority, as opposed to accepting that the will of the people was to pursue those ideas, just goes to show how much they really respect the American ideals they claim to be defending. They don't seem to understand that you can disagree without hampering progress or acting in an immature, insensitive and socetially damaging manner.
