WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Theater: when President Obama said we have to do something about the deficit so we don’t pass it on to our children, the Republicans responded with their heartiest cheer yet - so much so it made the president laugh. Next sentence, he talked about the debt “we inherited,” and all the Democrats lept to their feet to cheer with gusto.

You would think the Dems would cheer just as loud to not give this debt to their kids, but no they cheered louder to blame the Repubs
WHERE'S THE CHANGE!!!!

Mike in VA   February 25th, 2009 1:43 am ET

Yeah, I caught that too. He meant to say "the debt we created."

Candy seems always angry at anything that does not smack of conservatism .

I suggest Candy find a job at Fox News along with Jonathan Mann..

ken from jefferson city   February 25th, 2009 12:54 am ET

Candy we are from the same state Missouri but we disagree here
when we voted last november we told the republicans that we didn't like their plans ,also we told them we wanted change ,we didn't vote them out based on spending we voted them out because they didn't
do anything for the working man and his family they were for the business people of this country and what they still don't understand
is that businesses will not make any money without the working man.

Watching Pelosi jumping to her feet at almost everything President Obama said reminded of a high school cheerleader.

And while seated she was smiling like a Cheshire Cat. She looked like she had been smoking something and had a good buzz on. She should have been the one in an undisclosed location.

It just amazes me that the Republicans who spent us into the biggest national debt in history during their run in Congress have suddenly, with the advent of a Democrat President, become such phony fiscal conservatives. Where was their concern all the time they & Bush & Cheney were spending us into oblivion???

Comradio   February 25th, 2009 12:34 am ET

Foot taste alright Republicans? Well played Obama.

Felicha, Florida   February 24th, 2009 11:09 pm ET

I think this was by far the funniest part.

This is way they are soooo divided, some need to take the responsibility and others need not rub it in others faces so much....

We need to all come together and stand behind this President Hope,
Prayer and Getting off of our butts to do something is the only thing that is going to get the JOB DONE AND I THINK THAT OBAMA'S ATTITUDE AND TEMPORMENT IS THE CORRECT ONE.

Darren D.   February 24th, 2009 11:08 pm ET

I'm a Obama Voter, he's here forever!

Nick   February 24th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

crowley and co. we see you through, sore loosers.

Go Obama!

Jay Johnson   February 24th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

Let us not forget, it was inherited from the Republicans and demacrats. Now we all have to work together. I sincerely hope if the Republicans continue to not support this effort for recovery, their constinuients will let them know beyond a doubt their election is at stake.

Having lived in Mississippi, they need the money from the stimulus. What will happen when the money is out, I hope it will be used to build – you know, money begets money. Think, plan and spend well.

EC   February 24th, 2009 10:48 pm ET

To the Republicans....

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!" Thats why they chose Gov. Jindal to do the response, he's an outsider, just another GOP "puppet" on a string for those Republican cowards in Washington.

Ricky   February 24th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

.....Seems now big government will control our schools, healthcare and wealth. Welfare makes a comeback..

aliou FL   February 24th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

Republicans have done it again. They have looked through their ranks and found another Sarah palin from Louisiana. It must be something in the water or ice.

Independant Vet   February 24th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

ALL HE KNEW WAS HE INHERITED ALL THESE PROBLEMS.
HOW MANY TIMES DID HE TRY AN , MAKE IT SOUND LIKE IT IS THE BUSH YEARS FAULT. WHERE WAS HE AT THREW THE CLINTON YEARS , AN THE CARTER YEARS.

WE SHALL SEE , HIM BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN ASKING FOR TRILLIONS MORE, WRONG WAY BARRACK , BUT THIS IS CHICAGO POLITICS. NARRY A WORD ABOUT THE FLOOD VICTIMS, OR IKE VICTIMS. IT IS CHICAGO AN PELOSI FIRST .

SORRY SHE MAKES MY STOMACH TURN , SEND HER BACK TO DISNEY WORLD . BY GREYHOUND. OR DOG SLED.

Marie R   February 24th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

And we know where that debt came from the republicans should have hid under their seats

Eddie   February 24th, 2009 10:30 pm ET

An excellence speech.

Proud American   February 24th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

Republicans are such Idiots, they should have stayed home and went to bed. Why should tonight be any different than any other. Today our nation is in horrible shape and they are still willing to play politics.

buttons   February 24th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Candy, you really are pathetic, so freaking biased

Lotta muni   February 24th, 2009 10:11 pm ET

That speech was a lot of fluff. No substance. He's been selling everyone to heavily on the seriousness of the recession. It will take more than one speech full of self directed 'attaboys' to convince the public that the economy is turning around.

Ula Nejad Sacramento, Ca   February 24th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

$3.6 trillion and adding is what the republicans were cheering about giving them more gusto. Idiot.

catmom   February 24th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

When Republicans continue to blame Jimmie Carter and Bill Clinton for the problems we are currently facing, it is only right that President Obama point out that he inherited this recession, two wars...

Question   February 24th, 2009 10:04 pm ET

McCain where is Osama???? You said during your presidential run that you knew where Osama was and how to catch him. We are waiting!!!!!
