WASHINGTON (CNN) - The speech is clearly aimed well beyond the House chamber. He is going step by step through why the banks need to be bailed out, and how it will help middle class families. Seems to me some of this is pushback against Americans grown weary of bailing out “big banks” or “Wall Street.” Thus the tough talk - “those days are over,” a likely reference to excessive spending of companies taking federal help - and the reassurances of his mission: “It’s not about helping banks - it’s about helping people.”

NO more huge bonuses for the execs and now they must actually be accountable for their actions. And they must actually help the people instead of themselves, and holding lavish "retreats".

I heard him clear and loud. However, the republican response was a non event.

Hi: Some of the money should go to the people not the banks. They made this mess and the CEO's should be in jail. The people should get a million dollars(305 million people) all legal citizens of this country and see how the economy does!!!!not this trickle down shuff that does not work!!!!!

Thank You

For all the non-listening, non-thinking sheeple out there,,,,,where do you think the money to pay back all these "stimulus' packages is going to come from,,,,,hmmmmm????

You think we are hurting now??? Just wait until the bill comes due, so much for the "95% of Americans won't pay higher taxes (rather, will get a tax cut, as he said during the election). It will be a tax increase in some form, gas tax, road tax, VAT, sales tax or something, it might just not be an income tax so he can keep his "campaign promise".

The antichrist is sending this country to he!! in a handbasket in a big hurry, or at least the same way as the roman empire went. Well maybe he is not the antichrist, maybe he just has a piece of the spear of destiny like hitler had.

all these smoke and mirrors all sound great and the only people who will benefit will be the non-contributers to our economy. Why aren't the Veterans included in this at all??? I think they have given alot more than the people targeted to receive the lion share of this " give away " package.
