Dem blasts Obama's budget

Taylor, a Democrat, says the budget isn't 'change.'

(CNN) - Mississippi Democratic Rep. Gene Taylor blasted the budget outline President Obama submitted to Capitol Hill today, saying “I don’t like it…change is not running up even bigger deficits that George Bush did.”

“That’s what George Bush did very well. Apparently that’s what President Obama is doing.”

Taylor, a conservative “blue dog” who voted against the stimulus bill, noted he was still reviewing the plan but was troubled by the additional amount of spending for many government programs on top of the recent increased funding many agencies received in the economic stimulus bill.

Watch: Conservative Dems dog Obama

As a member of the Armed Service Committee, Taylor noted the budget only gives the Defense Department a “small increase,” which he said would barely cover the cost of living adjustments for the military.

Taylor pointed to President Obama’s inaugural address that called for Americans to make sacrifices, saying “It’s certainly not reflected in his budget.”

What Mr. Taylor forgot to mention is Bush racked up deficits going to war with/ fixing Iraq. Obama is trying to spend money here, to create jobs here, to help people here, replaced the infrastructure here, help the schools here.... Big difference.

Gene Taylor is a Democrat in Name Only. He comes from one of the most conservative districts in the nation, in Mississippi.

He is one of the handful of Democrats who voted to impeach Bill Clinton.

Come on, CNN, do your homework and stop writing misleading headlines!

This guy will have the political lifespan of a gnat.

Of course he has to challenge President Obama because he's from the south. His state voted for McCain.

These Are the reasons why i refuse to vote for people running for office who were in these political circles when my parents where young ( now 78 and 83 ) i will only from now on vote only the future next generation into office...
Let the next generation set the agenda for our future..the previous has us in this situation and it will take the next to get us headed in the right direction...no politician elected over 50...

And here I thought that Michelle and Barack were advocates of our service members' families–how can that be when the new budget outline barely covers a cost of living adjustment for our service members as quoted here:

"As a member of the Armed Service Committee, Taylor noted the budget only gives the Defense Department a “small increase,” which he said would barely cover the cost of living adjustments for the military."

We can't keep doing this, but we knew this would happen–all I can say is "Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy!"

Obama is a far left spending liberial. Little by little Democrats will turn against the irresponsible big government spending being pushed by Obama.

How can he take jabs at the deficit he inherited and then triple it on purpose? Who thinks that is OK or is anywhere near rational?

All Americans, Democrats and Republicans, moderates and conservates alike should rise up and call for a stop to this now. I do not call on liberals because they think this is good and are to stupid to ever think otherwise.

Do they want a budget that has all the big ticket items hidden. Will that make them "feel" better. That's been the problem for the last 8 years. Sticker shock, yea. We have just never seen the true cost before.

President Obama is doing the very best that he and his administration can do to hold this country together. All of these people need to stop complaining and start helping.

Hopefully Congress and President Obama can start getting this deficit under control. Our national deficit is 11 trillion dollars! If it gets too much larger we will never be able to repay it....ever....

The Governor from Mississippi appears to be as impulsive in reacting as the most misinformed citizen. Anyone with a bit of sense could see that the deficit was going to be larger, based on what the government has had to infuse into the system to kick-start it. If it were that quick and easy to sort out this mess, we wouldn't have been in it in the first place (don't you forget, "the fundamentals of the economy" were in good shape last year – sarcasm! according to our dear expresident!!) I can't for the life of me understand how people expect the economy to magically start churning again without the infusion of capital and with it confidence. Gone are the days of living on love and fresh air, which is apparently what some in government appear to think is the solution. What is up with these governors in the south of the country...disturbing!! Everyone criticizes...has anyone come up with a solution that works yet...no...then zip it and try to be part of the solution!!!

You need to back your president like YOU backed Bush. You are the reason the deficit is so high, NOT President Obama.

I think Obama's got it right. We can't be so short sighted right now. It seems to me that as long as deficit goes down, spending isn't the issue.

The problem is exactly what Obama said it was, there was a lot of money off the books during the Bush years. The budget they have is probably a reduced budget in comparison to the "true" amount of money that Bush was spending.

Also, if Taylor is so concerned about the budget, then perhaps Mississippi should decline any money from the federal budget or stimulus!

Funny, the GOP rubber-stamped every budget fearless, Jet-Pilot put before them and helped bankrupt the country!!!

Now, they're blocking any attempt to fix it!!!

Remember this in 2010, people, remember it good!!!!!!!
