(CNN) - More than a dozen pieces of jewelry were stolen from former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Deer Valley, Utah home last week, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Park City police told the paper that the thief was likely someone who had access to the house. There was no sign of forced entry.

The $5 million home is currently up for sale, along with another Romney residence in Massachusetts.

The former Massachusetts governor will address activists at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington Friday, as he aims for his third win in the annual gathering’s presidential preference straw poll.

Well you said you wanted to downsize, so, looks like one of the cons posing as a prospective buyer of the house, agreed with you!

Your family jewels are now smaller!

No matter how much I may disagree with Romney's politics, I'm sorry this happened to their family.

Sounds to me like YOUR type of lifestyle, Ellie - have some experience in "scamming" the system, do ya?

If a crime was commited than that is wrong, because no one has the right to steal other people property. But now days I really don't trust anything Republicans and Democrats say when it comes to money

Do any liberals actually believe you can become wealthy by determination and hard work? Or does the "hard work" aspect scare the snot out of you?

The hate spewed by both sides is scary to me. Obama wants this country to unite. He is reaching out to those who didn't vote for him, are republicans, etc. Why can't we do the same?

That said, never in my life did I think I'd hate conservatives like I do. They have no clue what a true liberal is. We don't want free things, we don't want your money, we work, we pay our taxes, we even go to church. We just don't want the conservative right to tell us who to love, what to do with our bodies and yes, we do want to feed the hungry and make sure no one sleeps outside in the richest nation in the world. Try sleeping outside in the winter in Minnesota. The homeless are not drunken bums, they are homeless familes and children. How can anyone not want to take care of a child who by no fault of their own is hungry and homeless. Or the single mom. Subsidize her daycare and school so she can get off welfare. Around every corner is a barrier for someone living in poverty. Conservatives don't get it.

This is NOTHING but another RICH WHITE MAN trying to beat the insurance fraud system. Mitt Romney LOST 100s of MILLIONS in his Presidential run, that's money down the drain.

AND NOW he's facing financial burdens and HAS to sell two of his MANSIONS. Romney's claims that they don't need the space doesn't even make sense at all.

NO RICH PERSON sells their home during a recession unless they are in serious financial trouble. DONALD TRUMP just filed bankruptcy AGAIN!

This whole notion that Mitt Romney is RICH beyond words is nothing but a FARSE!!! His wealth came from his family, he inherited a lot of it from his family.

"Determination" and "hard work" ARE NOT a Liberal Dem mantra. "Gimme-gimme" IS! Well, now they have their $65/mo "gimme-gimme." CONGRATULATIONS!

YES - "hard work" scares the snot out of Liberal Dems!

Just so you all know, Mitt Romney's "House" is more than that. His wife and kids call it a "cabin" , when is a estate he owns in Park City, Utah that he is selling for 5.5 Million !

See, it's not just John McBush that has multiple homes !!

I am an Obama suporter, but I am sorry about the robbery. A lot of times jewelry has sentmental value and that can never be replaced. Also, people who travel back and forth between homes do not always take everything in the home with them. I'm sure the Romney's have someone looking after the house when they aren't there, especially if it's for sale and people will be in and out.

On a side note, I am really sick and tired of so many conservatives on this site constantly bashing liberals as being deadbeats that don't want to work for a living. A bad economy hurts everyone – right, left and in the middle and I'm sure there are a huge number of all of them in bad shape right now. So how about showing a little kindness instead of so much hatred for a change. None of us knows what kind of trouble we may find ourselves in somewhere down the road, throught no fault of our own.

Oh yeah, The Romney's don't know the value of the items stolen, But it was just on the news here in Vegas that they can get all the values and photos from Mrs. Romney's "Jewelry Consultant" !!!

Hmmm, interesting. So, where is the "Jewelry Consultant" ? No signs of forced entry? Hmmm.

Insurance Scam, and I bet the insurance Company will just pay up because it's Mitt Romney

    To Nina:
Miltary family's were asked including mine. If you would have read or watched the whole story, you would know that the coffins can only be photographed if the family consents. You must be a rethug, that is the only thing that would explain your ignorance of the facts.

You would think conservatives would KNOW this since they claim to have the corner on religion.
