Preston on Politics: Democrats target Democrats

DailyKos' Markos Moulitsas says his online community is wary of Democrats being corrupted by power.
DailyKos' Markos Moulitsas says his online community is wary of Democrats being corrupted by power.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Call it a shot fired across the bow, or simply a stern warning to congressional Democrats: Power corrupts, and we are watching your every move. And if we think you are no longer representing the interests of your constituents, we will try to defeat you next year.

A Republican threat? Good guess, but no.

This is what Democratic activists are telling lawmakers of their own party, and they have formed a political action committee to raise money and help galvanize support for Democratic primary challengers in 2010.

Watch: Preston on Politics: Political infighting

Accountability Now PAC formally launched Thursday, creating a potential headache for Democratic leaders who would rather spend time focused on expanding their congressional majorities next year rather than defending Democrats from fellow Democrats.

Markos Moulitsas, founder of the DailyKos political blog, said that people in his online community are wary that Democrats are in danger of being corrupted by the ways of Washington.

"They want to hold Democrats accountable, knowing that if we do not hold them accountable we are going to become just like the Republicans did: corrupt, out of touch with their constituents and out of power," Moulitsas said.

The abuse of power and corruption became clearly visible to the American people when the Dems accepted (and welcomed) TAX EVADERS into the cabinet and made Treasury secretary out of a crook.
No question in my mind...in two years, some butts will get kicked out of Congress by angry voters.

The only people that would listen to Moulitsas are the USA bashers. He hates this country and anybody that listens to this vile punk needs to have their heads examined.

Yep – we're watching the corrupt Dems the same as we're watching the corrupt Reps.

Next year they will be sweating, that's for sure.

Why do we have to self-destruct all the time?

News flash-neither the far right nor the far left will EVER run this country, especially not after Bush.

i can't believe you're supporting this nonsense. You think the dailykos chief teaming up with union bosses to push dems to the left is a good thing? You think having our own rush limbaugh for the next 20 years a good thing? Obama could have never happened with that kinda structure, because before they became excited about him, they were all rooting for john edwards. You think standardizing democratic thoughts a la rush limbaugh republican a wonderful think? holding elected officials accountable? There's a reason people always thought we were extremist. Stifling indepedent thoughts like all the different kinds of democrats, southern, blue dogs, will lose us the majorities in congress.

You Daily Ko(ok)z tried this nonsense already a couple years back when you supported Ned "Lament" (misspelling intentional) over Lieberman, because you said Lieberaman wasn't "sufficiently liberal and nutty enough."

Just because a slick-talking Chicago poverty pimp duped 50-plus percent of the voting public into electing him, doesn't mean we are suddenly France begging for more socialist candidates.

This is, and always has been, a center-right nation. Centrist Democrats are one thing... but you push for greater liberal kookiness only at the demise of your congressional majorities and loss of the WH. Don't take my word for it, just open your history book.

No dummy. No more CORRUPT democrats. We hate them more than you do. On the other hand, you apparently can't be a Republitard unless you lie to, cheat and rob the poor of this country.

BTW- Waiting for CNN to do a post about Jindal's people admitting that he outright lied during his response to Obama... you're about 5 hours behind on this one...

Corruption is clearly an equal opportunity employer no matter what the political affiliation. If any person or organization is truly interested in revealing corruption, then I suggest a start at the top.

Well, it is about time that this kind of thing happens. If people aren't willing to stand up and show the mistakes of those in power, then we end up with plenty of corruption. If everyone is one their toes and does what they are supposed to do, then there will more work done for the people.

The Republicans will have nothing to worry about in 2010. The Dems will clear the field with their own infighting.
    Power corrupts indeed.

@ J.P., who said "but you push for greater liberal kookiness only at the demise of your congressional majorities and loss of the WH. Don't take my word for it, just open your history book."

Funny, I could've sworn I heard that same kind of nonsense coming out of GOPers mouths when we took over Congress in 2006. Doesn't look like it played out that way in 2008 tho, huh? 2010 can't come fast enough. RIP GOP

And guess what? Booby Jingle lied in his Katrina story...it didn't happen. Why do you people have such a hard time with the truth? Don't lie to make your failed ideology sound better...just recognize the need to change your ideology and move on.
