WASHINGTON (CNN) - CNN is told that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi used a private White House briefing Thursday night to tell President Obama point-blank they have concerns about his plan to keep as many as 50,000 troops in Iraq.
In a window into how sensitive the issue is for Democrats, CNN has learned that when the president was telling lawmakers about his plan, Reid urged him to be sure to highlight the lower figure. Sources familiar with the meeting tell CNN that Reid told the president that he would have an easier time selling the plan if he focuses on a range from 35,000 to 50,000 troops.
Wow... you democrats will eat your own, won't you?
How dare they question Obama!
It good to see you funnel you hate towards someone other than Palin, Bush, Rush...Republicans....
If Pelosi, and Reid were courageous Americans they would push to reinstate the draft. When our country is at war all Americans should shoulder the burden, rather than volunteers. When Congress votes for war the draft should used to man the effort. Perhaps they would give much more thought to their vote, if all young Americans were to make a sacrifice. Shame on all of us for letting the few carry the burden of fighting a war. Would we have gone to Iraq if everyone's child served in the military?
you get rid of troops in Iraq, who's your daddy OBAMA, is it IRAN!
Peace has to be ascertained prior to pullin' troops prematurely from Iraq. We realize "prematurely" is a relative term, but given the current circumstances, it is prudent to pursue a precarious position in a carefully calculated and cautious course.
Harry and Nancy, your days of artificial power are over. You no longer have an unpopular president of the opposite party to insult and run roughshod over. Mr Obama is about to eat your lunch, and I say "More power to him!"
He's got more sense in his little finger than both of you combined, and you'd better get used to not getting your way. You both need to get ready to be replaced in 2010 anyway. Your own party is sick of you, and you will find out how sick very soon.
Mr. President I am not a fan of yours, but I fully support your policy in the withdrawal from Iraq, I served over their and it was sickening watching all of our young military come through our hospital. Listen to your generals they are the leaders out their, not Pelosi and Reid they are full of poison and hate. They want to manage a war from behind a desk much like Vietnam, please don't allow it. Mr. President in my book you batted a 1000 if you stand behind your policy on this one, the men and women of the Armed Forces will appreciate the additional time.
If I were Obama I would tell Pelsoi and Reid to screw themselves. The got all the intelligence reports and didn't say a word. Now they want to complain like 2 yr old. The far left of the party are really starting to make me sick. If any idiot paid close attention during the election they would have known what Obama would do. I don't see any of these idiots that volunteered their family members. Pelosi and Reid both need to go. They have screwed up enough.
That's funny. Good words.
I don't like your words. They are foolish and boring. Don't you guys have any creativity? No, I don't mean like your "Hip Hop" talkin' Diversity Man, "Scary-Unspice-Houndstooth-Bachman", Part-Time-Managod-Huckabee, Mitt-The-Twit Romney, Joe-The-5-Books-Wonder, Bobby-The-Jingle-Jindal, DeMint-The-DeMented, and Rush-The-Mush Limbaugh. Do you have anyone who offers intelligent down on this earth ideas, statements? Tell them to speak now, or forever hold your peace.
Whatever issues arise concerning Spk. Pelosi, Sen. Reid and our President, you can be sure they will resolve them quickly, and amicably. The media tends to fan embers; while Republicans fan the embers until they become a forest fire.
President Obama cares about our children & the future of our country
