(CNN) - More than a dozen pieces of jewelry were stolen from former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Deer Valley, Utah home last week, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Park City police told the paper that the thief was likely someone who had access to the house. There was no sign of forced entry.

The $5 million home is currently up for sale, along with another Romney residence in Massachusetts.

The former Massachusetts governor will address activists at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington Friday, as he aims for his third win in the annual gathering’s presidential preference straw poll.

If this had been a demicrat, the liberals on here would be falling all over themselves to express how sorry they were, and how horible this was...(of course they would still blame it on Bush or Palin because they can't come up with something new)... but since it was a republican, they spew hate. So much for demicrats being the party of compasion.

Ask any judge, mormans commit insurance fraud all the time. They burn down a building and then submit a claim to the insurance company alleging it was full of expensive equipement etc etc, the stage home robberies and the "goods" have been removed and stored or sold etc etc. If judges could speak out, many many many of them would tell you what they have seen by these clean cut moman businessmen, as their number one means of making money is FRAUD.

    Fishy, fishy, fishy!

The $5 million mansion is currently up for sale.

More than a dozen pieces of jewellery was stolen.

Is this the same Mitt Romney who ran for President?
What kind of SECURITY SYSTEM DID HE HAVE?
I sure hope this does not mimic HIS PLANS for the
WHITEHOUSE SECURITY when he ran for President!

This guy should be ashamed to tell folks about this
SUPPOSED BURGLARY, he had NO BUSINESS
LEAVING VALUABLE JEWELLERY IN A VACANT HOME!

Let's hope his SECURITY PLANS for his other mansion
gets a complete overhaul, and by the way WILL THE
    INSURANCE COMPANY RE-IMBURSE HIM? Insurance
companies usual have A DUE DELIGENCE CLAUSE
    in their contracts.

This is so BOGUS and makes Mitt Romney look like an utter fool.

You have this wealthy family who claims "robbery" and tells the police they DON'T KNOW what jewelry was taken out of a house they have up for sale?

WHO THE HELL LEAVES JEWELRY IN A HOUSE THEY ARE SELLING?

WHY WASN'T THE JEWELRY IN A SAFE OR VAULT?

This is nothing but an inside job for insurance purposes. Mitt Romney is having serious financial trouble and needs to recoup some of the millions he lost during his presidential run.

What RICH person sells two homes in the middle of a recession?

WAKE UP PEOPLE, this grown man is trying to cheat the system. bottom line. RICH people do it all they time, they pay folks to burn their house or rob their houses and file an insurance claim. DAH.....

The biggest mistake you folks are doing is pegging Mitt Romney as a "alter boy". This grown man KNOW EXACTLY what he's doing and MONEY is the root of all evil. It will cause even a SAINT to turn into the devil. Don't get it twisted, money is the devil in sheep's clothing.

I love how the bleeding hearts think people do not deserve to be wealthy. If you have worked hard, why shouldn't you be able to take part in that little thing called the American Dream. I don't think our founding fathers had "redistribution of wealth" in mind when they drafted the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They would roll over in their graves if they saw how Americans have become a hand out society. Green is never a flattering skin color. Maybe if you worked hard and set goals for yourself you could be in a position where you can own multiple properties. Instead you whine about how it isn't fair. Wake up America....we are turning European, and that isn't a compliment.

Keep supporting trickle-down theory and watch the economy fail. The rich often forget that the poor easily outnumber them.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't have so much jewelry that I could afford to leave it at my second home. If I had a second home that is. I guess if I had five (5) homes it would be even more difficult to keep track of. Well, I am sure there is insurance and I am also sure that it will pay out – what insurer would DARE resist paying a claim against a millionaire politician? I do hope though that there was nothing of sentimental value that cannot be replaced...that's sad even for someone who's married to a guy whose politics I can't stand.

It's nothing to Money Making Mitt. He'll get the insurance money from it. It sounds like an insurance scam if you ask me. All of a sudden your mansion in Park City, Utah gets broken into with no sign of forced entry. You can't blame this on a black dude, because I don't know any that live in Utah. I'm confused. So how'd the thieves get in the house?

These Republicans will do anything to keep their name in front of the American public. Why weren't their valuables in a safe deposit box? I don't believe it happened. If they have so much expensive jewelry that it can be left in a vacant house then they have too much.
