(CNN) - More than a dozen pieces of jewelry were stolen from former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Deer Valley, Utah home last week, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Park City police told the paper that the thief was likely someone who had access to the house. There was no sign of forced entry.

The $5 million home is currently up for sale, along with another Romney residence in Massachusetts.

The former Massachusetts governor will address activists at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington Friday, as he aims for his third win in the annual gathering’s presidential preference straw poll.

I would like to know why Romney and his wife would leave jewelry in a home that was sitting empty and up for sale.
If it had been my jewelry, I would have VALUED it dearly and took it with me.

Why is this even a ticker item? Especially two days in a row? We should be talking about how Obama is wrecking the economy! Man this is frustrating.

Perhaps Romney will now have a little more compassion for the middle-class citizens whose wealth has been taken away from them since Ronald Reagan was sworn in as President.

Was it insured? No forced entry? Could be they did this themselves for the money! Their selling that home? Hmmm. Sounds fishy to me and I don't put anything past a republican. He sure did'nt mention anything about this on the many shows he's been on today!!!!

CNN's support of the radical left and its leader Obama only encourages these types of crimes. Betcha the robbers voted for Obama. They wanted something for nothing. They want to live on the sweat of other people's brows.

I would not be surprised if the republicans blame President Obama. After all, they think he's musim, not born in the U.S., he palled around with terrorist, took drugs and would not wear a flag pin on his lapel....whatev.

CNN get your facts straight. His house was not robbed it was burgled. The two crimes are quite different.

I am sure the insurance company is looking in to this "very closely".

Chris, that's precisely what I thought. A house is an inanimate object, and therefore cannot be robbed. People get robbed; houses are burglarized.

Mitt, you should be president. it would be great for this country to have someone who actually has an idea of what they're doing instead of the no experience IDIOT we elected.

Why would you have jewelry in a home for sale where others have access? This was not random. I'm no romney fan but we do have being buglarized in common. It is an awful feeling.

with his wealth, one would think he would have had state-of-the-art security alarm systems throughout the home. at the very least, a very large and expensive vault, safe. criminality is alive and well everywhere in our society because there is no just punishment, too many plea bargains, too many early paroles, no executions. congress and the judicial system are powerless. criminality rules and is a great career for so many from elected officials to CEOs to the common ordinary street burglar. the rest of america just tolerates it with an audible "tsk-tsk".

Hmmmmm. I wonder why this article is posted in the ticker?

Look at any of these articles on GOP figures- then check the comments.

The majority are filled with nasty comments from progressive fascists who can't tolerate conservatives or their ideas.

The only reason, as far as i can tell, for this article to be posted with the opportunity to comment is to give the liberals another rallying point to talk their garbage.

p.s.- those who blindly support the republicans are just as ignorant and ridiculous. its not about dems or repubs... idiots.

Speaking of crimes, WHY IS CNN NOT DOING FRONT PAGE STORIES of the Biden family ties to the alleged criminals at Stanford Financial ?????? This is a stunning story yet CNN and other Democrat Party news outlets are ignoring it.
