Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

More of her hate and vitriol? If the 'pubs plan on making any strides in the next 20 years...they will move forward with some new ideas, inclusive policies, and new faces. How about showing some patriotism for a change...it's more than just waving a flag, you know. With Coulter and Libaugh at the head...THEY ARE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE.

I am a 22 y/o U.S. Marine and follow this news organization. Why in the world are you guys allowing this joker Rush to be seen and heard on your news channel. He couldnt be anymore out of touch. This isnt about silencing the right (which I wouldnt mind doing). Its about not suppling air time to right wing fanatics. Im truly dissapointed. On the bright side I hope Rush is the voice of the conservative movement for a long time to come. That will surely mean many many more democratic victories.

Please stick with the issues that made you rich, and (in)famous.

    1) Indignation concening history's view of your beloved Sen. Mc Carthy
    2) Perfection of the Jews
    3) Disenfranchisement of women
    4) Humorless jokes at expense of gays
    5) Callous behavior towards 9/11 widows
    6) Hateful rhetoric concerning Arabs, and Islam

You are an affront to decent individuals.

She gives women a bad name. It's her way of thinking only, no one else is entitled to an opinion. It's just like Limbaugh, who just now said Obama forced Northern Trust Bank and Wells Fargo to take money from the TARP. Think good ol Limbaugh better look up his facts. The money they were forced to take was from the first TARP bailout that came from Bush. He spreads just as many lies and garbage and she does. They both make me nauseous and their ideologies are the main reasons I went from being a republican for over 30 years to being an independent. By the way, anyone else notice the CPAC attendees are all white? So much for conservative values. Their values obviously don't include people of other nationalities, whether they're asian, hispanic, black, etc.

EVER time I've heard Ann Coulter speak, it's turned my stomach. She uses every trick it the book to turn baseless smears into pap for the right-wing conservatives. Her "talks" are content-free, and with her it's all about how much anger you can stir up. When you describe what she does as humor, it is a contradiction in terms. You were probably watching her bust line and noting that she was smiling, and mistook turds for pearls of wisdom.

I AM IN UTTER SHOCK AND DISGUST AT RUSH LIMBAUGH'S SPEECH AT THE CPAC!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS??? OMG! ...No, I take that back. I'm not shocked or surprised, but I am disgusted. Republicans, I have voted Republican before and consider myself politically independent.... but you have disgraced yourself and your party by letting him give the keynote address at this convention. If the bile that this man is spewing is what you believe in, I will NEVER vote Republican again. I didn't hear Ms. Coulter's speech but the transcript said enough. The death knell has tolled for thee Republicans and the reaper is coming. Au Revior.

There could be no better demonstration of why the Republicans lost the last election so badly than their embracing of media extremists like Coulter and Limbaugh. I think it's going to be a long time in the wilderness.

It's interesting how so many on the right constantly criticizes everything Democrat and Obama all the while doing the very thing they find so horrible. Ann Coulter has spewed some of the nastiest things towards people, for instance the widows of men killed on 9/11, then whine when people called her to task for it.

People like her, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the other right wing fanatics scream the loudest and whine about everything. Right now Rush Limbaugh is screaming about the stimulus plan. He is whining about no one knowing it will work. Well guess what, we DO know that the Republican plan didn't work.

It is so sad that these people are given the forum to spew their nonsense, making things up as they go and have to answer to know one. Right now they are whining about the Fairness Doctrine saying it is just a way to keep them off the radio. No, it's a way to have someone other than a right wing fanatic respond to the nonsense they spew. What are they afraid of ? In any given city, you can find people like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity on three, four radio stations spewing their hatred but try finding another opinion. And please don't insult anyone by saying no one listens to Progressive radio. When you have two owners who lean right owning the majority of the radio stations, they control what the people have access to .

Lets all bash Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh.

Others to be bashed? Lets see....

Anyone mention Keith Olbermann? Al Franken?

If everyone (anyone?) posting here had pointed out that there are idiots on both sides of the aisle, I might actually have some hope for true bi-partisanship. Unfortunately, no matter what "side" you are on, nobody wants to point the mirror back at their own party....or perhaps even themselves. Remember, when you point your finger there are 3 pointed back at you. Something to keep in mind while the bashing of Coulter and Limbaugh continues.....

Nothing like stooping to their level eh?

Sorry Ann, we tried it your way, it failed.

And in presidential elections, 53 – 46 is a landslide. Getting a majority of votes was hard enough for your precious W.
