Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

The Ann Coulters, Rush Limbaughs, Karl Roves, Sarah Palin's Sean Hannitys of the world need to be sealed in an igloo together forever. They are a disgrace to humanity.

Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are so effective in boosting the Democratic party that they may as well be de facto members of the DNC.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

They still just don't get it. America doesn't need a bunch of stuffed shirts telling each other how witty they are, America wants someone who actually DOES something.

As a recovering Republican, it's clear the party is starting to die. Whigs, anyone?

@ JayLea....ALL the Repub bimbettes are skinny blondes. LOL

Well this just about shows America what this crowd is all about. This woman has insulted every race, religion, creed and 9-11 widows. Yes, Ann said the 9-11 widows got rich and were savoring the money from their dead spouses.

    She craves attention. SHOCK JOCKETS.

ANN COULTER, RUSH LIMBAUGH, SHANE HANNITY, BILL O'RIELY, JOE THE PLUMBER – IS THIS THE BEST CPAC CAN COME UP WITH AT AT TIME OF NEED. THESE ARE JUST A BUNCH OF RADICAL SET TO DESTROY HUMANITY.

NO WONDER THIS COUNTRY FEEL APART FOR THAT PAST 8 YEARS!

GOD HELP US IF THE RIGHT WING REPUBLCIANS GET IN OFFICE AGAIN. IT WILL BE ANOTHER HUGH DISASTER WITH ONLY THE RICH AND CORPORATIONS BENEFITING.

Coulter gives women a bad name. It's either her way or no way. Everyone else is wrong. If she's so great, why doesn't she run for office? Could it be because she's only in it for the money from her books and speeches? Ya think!

Anyone else notice the attendees at the CPAC are all white. Where are the hispanic, asian, blacks, indians, etc.? These conservatives are what's wrong with the republican party. Until republicans become more moderate, the general populace will not vote for them again. We don't want people telling us we have to believe in God, telling us what we can and can't do with our bodies, telling us if we don't believe like they do, we're not good people.

Having said all this, I was a republican for over 30 years, but when the conservatives became so powerful in the party policies, I switched to indpendent. As long as the conservaties are in charge of the party's candidates, I will never vote for a republican for any office.

So Coulter and Limbaugh hate Democrats and Obama. This is news? CPAC is preaching to the choir, per usual. Limbaugh's out there painting Obama as a grumpy guy who hates Americans and wants them to fail. Maybe Obama is a realist who doesn't want to get hopes up too high, and expects Americans to take some responsibility for themselves AND their country. Maybe Bush and his flippancy-his wise advice after 9-11??"Go shopping'-may play well to conservatives, but to me, it was as if he had no plan, no concern, and wanted us to forget about 9-11 until it was time to go show Saddam what was up. Then it was all about the evil Saddam, whom we supported because he was keeping Iran under control.
And if Limbaugh can't use the PROPER term for the Democratic party,(he said "democrat party" every other sentence) I think we should all rise up and start calling Republicans the "republic party." For someone who says he sees only Americans out here, he sure can separate us pretty fast into the good guys and bad guys...kind of like Palin. Guess she took a page from the front of his book. And he may not have had a teleprompter, but he sure had an awfully big earpiece (someone feeding him lines??) and looked down at his notes a lot. Bag of wind.

I LOVE it that liberals who consider themselves SO liberated about women accuse EVERY woman they disagree with of being a bimbo who slept her way to the top! First Palin, now Coulter!

I have no affection for either Palin or Coulter, who I consider to be almost as intellectually challenged as Biden, but the liberal hypocrisy is just so beautiful to behold!

Liberals: You fool no one but yourselves about your moral and intellectual superiority.

Note to Reed: My hair is a natural salt and pepper, befitting my age.

I think both Coulter and Limbaugh are both bad for the Republican party.

I wish the GOP would realize what these two trashers are doing to the Party. When the GOP started allowing these kind of hate monger's to speak for the party, was the day I walked away.

The Republican party is no longer the party of God, Truth, Family and love of County. I believe in a few years there will no longer be a Republican party, and that's a great shame, as it was once mine, and millions of other's party of choice

She's got every right to say whatever she wants however she wants, and you have every right to hate whatever she says. But I wonder, for all who condemn her venom, are you as vociferous in your condemnation of tools like Olbermann?

Ann Coulter is the very best thing to happen to the Democratic Party. Less we forget what the unbridled sound of hate looks like.

Has Ann Coulter ever actualled proposed any sort of commentary or critique that wasn't just an insult and put-down? Has she offered any actual insights or analysis of anything, or offered a solution for anything that takes something into consideration, other than party talking points?

Not as far as I know. Her message only resonates with people who already agree with her concept that the only thing anyone should ever say is vitriol and insults. "Us good, them terrible, regardless of what they do".

And a "mediocre" 53% to 46% win? When did Bush win by that margin? In 2004, he won less than 51% to 48%. And less than that, i nthe election before. Sour grapes.

Coulter is just a performer who should be ignored. Trouble is, she is someone the Antis relate to. If they are anti-Obama, anti-immigrants, anti-public eduation, anti-separation of state and religion, they like Coulter. I know well what she is against – I don't know anything she likes!

Wow all this hate and the left won. Let's not have any differing opinions, lets just go ahead and make Obama President for life and put everyone who disagrees with the left in jail. But then.....the left will still cry about something.

Let's try to set a better example folks. Perhaps if people didn't feel so insignificant, they'd react in a more positive manner. Let's be better people than throwing negative at negative. Let's try positive and see how far that goes.

The GOP is all talk. Honestly, just nominate Limbaugh and Coulter already and expose these morons to the rest of the country. Show some real guts by admitting you listen to these two losers so they can finally go away once they get defeated by the very thing they stand against!!

As a life-long Republican, it is sad to see the best and brightest of the GOP polishing their stand up comedy sketch instead of rolling out brilliant solutions that will actually solve our problems.

Looks like I will be voting Democratic again in 2012.
