Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

The Republicans are ignorant, angry fools. Look who they trot out! Limbaugh, Coulter, and Joe the Plumber. That's following Sarah the self-serving sociopath who talks like a word salad and doesn't even know she doesn't know squat. Then there's war monger John McCain who doesn't know how many houses he owns, and thinks he can get away with skipping out on Letterman by lying and showing up on another show. These people are beyond pathetic! Three stooges, move over, you have some competition.

I think she is a smart woman. However she tried to say shocking things to stay in the media spotlight to sell books. She comes from the same breed as moveon.org. All they preach is hate.

This is why the GOP sucks. There are actually a few with some ideas , like Ron Paul. I dont always agree with him, but some of his points are valid. But the ones the base seems to love are the ones that have no concept of fact or science, have no ideas, and simply mock everyone else. I am a liberal who is open to alternative solutions. All I hear from the GOP is infantile namecalling, not ideas. Thats why I vote Dem.

The Republican mouthpieces have degenerated into a downward spiraling comedy show. All you ever hear is negative talk and negative ideas. There seems to be no end to this foolishness. Meanwhile people are looking at their savings, their jobs and their homes disappear. All the while the Republicans tell jokes and proclaim that President Obama is just plain wrong on everything. Will they ever realize that united we stand and divided we fall? I hope either someone in their camp or some of the Republican voters get it before it is too late!!!

I really cannot understand why the news would give Ann Coulter, and that nut Rush Limbaugh any air time. They are exactly what they stand for with the Republican Party. Bigots, I'm sure all Americans don't have the kind of hatred these people promote against God's people. They can say whatever they want and try to deny the fact that they are racist and hearts full of hate. This country that we all love is in trouble, Put aside all that hatred and get involve and help us.
We have a president that they hate so bad because of his color, that they would say or do anything against him to try and convince Americans that he's bad for this country. If he has all the answer with his old time rhetoric then why don't he call the president and make his suggestions on how everything should be handle. And if so why haven't he did it all ready. I have no respect for Republicans and i if they follow what that nut says then I definitely have no respect from any of them racist pigs .I t's hard to believe Rush has a wife. We shall pray for her and him

Ann Coulter has the personality of a porcupine with PMS.

The woman is simply caustic in nature, and should show the nation an indication of what the conservative arm of the Republican party is like.

    Look, people,
I watched both (rush and ann), and reminds me to only one thing.
Begining 1933-34, Nazi and Hitler had somebody for promoting their ideas: Gebels!
This is exactly what this two are. They are the biggest disgrace in America, they represent about 2% of America's population, whining and crying about wealth, taxes, etc.
It just give's me more hope into my President and his ideas.
Yes, we can, and we will! Go, Mr. President!

Well Joyce, I wouldn't look for the Republicans to help you. As a matter of fact Ann Coulter would probably tell you to get over yourself and not expect the government to help you with anything. In fact, listen to them now with Rush Limbaugh speaking at their conference. Republicans are cheering wildly while Limbaugh rants about the stimulus plan designed for once to spend money on the American people.

Let's try to set a better example folks. Perhaps if people didn't feel so insignificant, they'd react in a more positive manner. Let's be better people than throwing negative at negative. Let's try positive and see how far that goes.

    ....we are all Americans.....

I love people like rob who want to pretend like hate is one-sided. Because whites have allowed so much hate speech in this country, that is why so many idiots are allowed to give their opinions openly such as a Rev. Wright, and really there's nothing you can say, why because you guys have Ann Coulter and Rev. Hagee.

I'm outraged that CNN is giving airtime to a political action committee such as the CPAC. What is the relevance and rationale for this programming choice? I followed the week long speeches and messages of both the Republican and Democratic parties when they were broadcast and listened to campaigning of both candidates during the election campaign. But CPAC does not represent any elected body of American opinion; instead, it's a MARKETING MACHINE for one very narrow group of opinions that don't even represent an official political party. Are you going to give equal time to the full range of PACs that advocate a variety of causes and ideologies? Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are at the top of the heap of the most shrill and destructive voices of a frighteningly devisive ideology. Shame on CNN for providing them with an unwarranted opportunity to spew their venomous messages. This is not "freedom of speech" unless it's balanced by equal time for opposing viewpoints.

Do the Republicans realize that Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are laughing all the way to the banks? They are not fools and bimbos as they are hoodwinking their party. There are smart Republicans out there and they make occasional visits to CNN shows. I wonder what they really think about rescuing their party from the destructive likes of the Coulters, Palins and Limbaughs. These folk go for base in human behavior. Their own words define such demeaning characters. If I were a true Republican, I would be insulted by their tactics.

Many of us are bored with your support of a right wing radio host dominating Saturday's news coverage. Rush Linbaugh is neither an elected official nor a political candidate at this time. Why give him so much free advertising? We turned to another channel because we were sick of hearing him rant. CNN apparantly is competing with Fox News. It was a cable news channel a couple of years ago.and covered both sides of the political aisle..

I think it's terrible that the Republican Party has become the party of hate. I heard Rush Limbaugh say "He hopes Obama fails" I heard Sean Hannity say recently that the stock market is falling daily because of Obama. Not only the party of hate but also of ignorance.

LOL – after 8 years of the daily vicious attacks on GW Bush, it is to be expected that the same nasty comments will be spewed against Rush and any other Republican. Of course, Coulter is the 'attack dog' on the right just as fat Michael Moore is the attack dog for the libs.....
Get over it – it is now time to get a taste of your own medicine....yeah, you started this mud fight & most conservatives tried to play nice as McStupid directed -. ENOUGH ALREADY – time to fight back with LIB rules.
