Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

If being conservative is so great, why is it that when we deal with dictatorships, whether they are theocratic or communist, we talk to the moderates and liberals and NOT the conservatives? Also, it shows you how bloody stiff and robotic the conservatives are if they think Ann Coulter is funny

Ann is just pissed off because her taxes will be going up!! I love it. She is a venomous person and I would be humiliated if I were her parent to know I raised such a poor example of a human being.

And Rush, OMG, anyone who listens to him, I really worry about. By the way, his taxes will go up too! Have to cut down on the meds, Rush!

Everytime Ann Coulter speaks, the GOP loses more seats in Congress. She is a big hemroid for the GOP, and a shininng example of the hate and the fear that comes out of the Republican Party. You silly Republicans, cant figure out why you lost every seat in the house in the entire New England area?

CNN, have the guts to post

She needs food. Give her a good meal and maybe she won't be so nasty and hateful. I love the way the neoconmen adore her. It cracks me up!
Why do they wonder why they're not in power anymore? They're mean or ignorant or liars and sometimes all three.

Good Grief Abraham Lincoln has to be rolling in his grave what Ann and Rush has done. The scary though is if either one of them where leading the GOP back in 1860 they would have both said that slavery was justify.

Ann Coulter isn't LIKE a stand-up comedy act, she IS a stand up comedy act! And the bigger joke is that there are people out there who take her point of view seriously.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the democrats would want to bring back the fairness doctrine. it would basically mean that for every rush limbaugh, ann coulter, and sean hannity, the broadcasters would have to put forth equally idiotic and mindless democratic weasels.I say let the market decide.

the way things are going, it's working out pretty good. while coulter, limbaugh and hannity are inspiring each other and "the republican base" the majority of americans are actually paying attention to real issues and voting accordingly. the fairness doctrine would probably do more harm in the sense that democrats run the risk of having as many idiots on the airwaves as the republicans do now.

I say let them keep tilting at windmills while the democrats clean up the mess that their champions have made

I happened to catch a few minutes of the speech. All she did is insult, mock, criticize, and whine. The audience loved it. Seems like the GOP is headed for a long walk in the Wilderness. I had hoped they would wisen up after the last two defeats.

Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity and others represent what's destroyed any intellectual credibility that conservatives once had.

Was she wearing a white sheet when she delivered her speech? Pay her no attention and hopefully she will go away along with the rest of the Republicans.

ann coulter is funny as hell. the dems couldn't have asked for a better gift. as long as coulter, hannity, and limbaugh are spewing their filth, it will keep rational moderate republicans away from the party.

If the Republican party has run out of ideas, what do people think the Democrat party has? They are still the biggest spenders. It is said the Republicans spent too much, but it that an excuse for the Democrats to do it in spades? Many may not like what Miss Coulter has to say, but then, the truth always hurts. To denigrate her looks and bash her, which seems the only weapons that Democrats have, is to ridicule rather than intelligent rhetoric. Republicans deal in facts, Democrats in feelings.
