Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

This is what America needs, good honest news coverage.

How does CNN see this as news? Is there not a KKK meeting around? How about skinheads?

News is where the main body of the Republican Party or the main body of the Democratic party's beliefs are.

Please stop pretending to report the news, your dramatizing every little event trivializes you and your audience.

95% against Coulter. Doesn't CNN allow opposing views?
I read the comments and could not believe that all those who read
the CNN Political Ticker could be so arrogant and hateful.
It doesn't say much for the so-called "Democratic viewpoint"
That said, the future of our country is in big trouble....

Republicans will be in the wilderness for awhile... if they continue to cling to their ideas with these sickos as spokespersons.... they will be there a very looooong time...

I see CPAC had Jackie Gleason's "HoneyMooners" & wife,Trixi, talking at their Comittee meeting. They are hilarious! Why did they call him Rush and her Ann.They were very funny and taught me a lot as they remembered the Lincoln, slavery and the Civil war.

We have seen President Obama take this country down the wrong direction. It is refreshing to hear that mainstreet and the republican party have the same values. Lower taxes and smaller government spending!

    Dear Miss Coulter,

I love you! Everything you say is so beautiful. I can't go a day without hearing you speak. There is nothing that you can say that will ever offend me. (If you're still reading this, you have issues.) Please get her out of the spotlight. I don't know who's worst, Coulter or Paloon. This woman is nuts. She makes Drug Limbaugh look like a genius! I can't believe that the media even pays attention to this loon. Here's what we should do. When CNN post anything about her, don't click on it. They're going to keep this loon in the spotlight as long as we continue to pay attention to this wonderful lady?

    Love,
    Me

Coulter is disgusting. Why the Republicans exhalt her and Sarah Palin has more to do with their lack of interest in what is in women's heads. There have got to be some bright and capable Republican women who can deliver a positive inspiring message....but they seem to not get invitations to speak at these events.
Yes, there is a reason that the country voted for Obama...and it has to do with the fact that the guy seems like he actually talks sense and is a normal human being, besides being smart, accomplished and hardworking. And the Republicans trot out spokespeople like Limbaugh and Coulter to get them excited?
    Amazing.

Coulter just continues to push herself more and more out of the mainstream. For every CPAC idiot guffawing at her stupid out-of-touch jokes there are 10 average Americans turning away from her pointless foolishness.

Coulter, You and the GOP are people that spread hate and racism. Just as McCain and Palin did during their campaigning. America does not need people running our country like you. Keep talking, keep spreading hate, and you won't win the next election. Hatred, racism, GREED, selfishness, this is the GOP party.
No the problem is the party allowed itself to be hijacked and gave up the values of fiscal conservatism for social conservatism.

The party was at its best when it stood for less taxes, less government intervention.

But the last 8 years has shown that this is the party of NO: "no, you democrats can't spend, only we can", "no you can't do that, the bible says not to, we're going to make it law and the government will make sure you can't".

Get rid of the extreme right and maybe the GOP will survive. This country is right of center on fiscal policies and left of center on social ones.

When Bush beat Kerry by 2.4% percent, she called it a mandate.

When Obama beat McCain by 7%, she called it mediocre.

Can we say, partisan hack? Beyond entertainment, why is anyone paying attention to her?

As Yakov Smirnoff used to say, what a country! Ann Coulter skims the CNN Political Ticker every day, collects all the snide comments, turns them back around at the liberals, makes them into books, and gets paid! And here I am working for a living. Please, Ann, run for President in 2012–otherwise we're going to be stuck listening to Mitt Romney campaign speeches for two years!

From the dribble I have read on this site,it is the uneducated, low life's that mostly respond, with their venomous and belittling comments.

For some unknown reason, they can not think beyond their noses. This stimulus package that is being proposed may sound great, however in doing simple mathamatics, how is it ever going to be paid for.

Wake up AMERICA, and all the welfare bums and smell the roses!!!!!!

She is truely a nut case. Any person with or without an advanced education would recognize that she is a SOCIOPATH in deep need of professional therapy.. But wait. She has learned how to use her education and training as a theatrical SHTICK which has translated to mucho USA DOLLARS. The real question is why does the T/V media continue to give her the exposure she so earnestly seeks. Why is she invited as a speaker at COLLEGE campuses. She is not educational but a hate filled BIMBO weho has learned to turn a BUCK. Did you know that she needs private security guards to travel with her?
