Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

conservative bashing is about what I would expect here. Franklin and Hamilton would be considered morons to inlightened liberals. That silly constitution just leads to hatemongering by conservatives. Lets just do away with it for a more intelligent society that Obama is giving us. It really doesn't matter that some guys over in Russia tried the same ideas. Wonder how it worked out for them? I'm sure its got to be better than that stupid bill of rights.

AS MUCH AS I'D LIKE TO, I'm going to refrain from saying what I really think of Ann Coulter. Suffice it to say, she doesn't really matter in the scheme of things and, for all intents and purposes, she is nothing more than an example of brilliant self-promotion and opportunism. She has staked out the ideal terrain for a person who seeks to be a lightning rod for controversy and political conflict. If you really listen to what Coulter says, she sets herself up as the Rosetta Stone for translating conservative ideals into pop culture terms. She hits all the right buttons, hoping to elicit exactly the kinds of reactions we're all reading here. She snarfs as she reads them, hearing the cha-ching of future speaking engagements and book deals. In the end, she contributes nothing to the dialogue in this country other than her personal aggrandizement and belligerent intolerance of opposing views. The best thing that the people who disagree with her could do is ignore her. I keep saying this, realizing that I'm playing into her hands just by saying that. Bullies go away when they can no longer get the fearful, angry reactions they're looking for. Forget Ann Coulter. Focus on things that have some meaning. She doesn't.

Ann Coulter is a cross dressing male bigot who appeals to the lowest common denominator of humanity. Love the huge adam's apple! Her ilk like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, etc,. know it's over for the pathetic conservatives. Isn't it fun to see them twist in the wind and oppose everything that is just? The republican party is history. Thank God and good riddance!

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus, Anne Coulter is from Uranus. It's that simple.

I'll bet she hasn't had sex in years. With a giant adams apple a-bobbing, and all the eye rolling she is an incredible and strange artifact of conservative thought.

But many, many, people buy her books because it's easier to hate someone than it is to work out a solution. America has become a sad, strange place.

This person was really born about 80 years too late and in the wrong country. Can't you just see her in a uniform with swastikas on it running around Germany blaming Jews and gypsies for all the problems?

“If you want to remain ignorant and free, you want what never was and never will be.”-Thomas Jefferson
Annie just says what we Conservatives know in our hearts. We do not need teleprompters. We do not need to be accepted. we do not need anything, and all liberals and socialists and demorats can say whatever they wish against us. Never mattered. Never will. We believe in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence . It doesn't change. And we aren't going anywhere. Oh, yeah. Another thing. We will never, never, never give in or give up.

The best candidate for the GOP is ,Newt Gingrich. Not bcs he could beat Obama in 2012, but bcs he is the only one who can best rally the Republican party during this period of doubts and confusion.
All the other candidates are obsessed with Conservativism , which unfortunately failed for the past eight years. Sarah will be good for 2016. Reasons bcs she needs time to get over the insults she said about Obama, which unfortunately did not work. Mitt Romney, is a good guy, but the fact that he is selling some of his Mansions , means he is broke, and the GOP doesn't need such a leader. The fall of Wall Street hit him HARD? .Poor Rudy, got merely %3 percent? What really went wrong? Ann Coulter, got nothing out of her jokes. People just laughed at her stupidity. Poor Ann, she never knows how to cry low. Ok lets not fight, this is not the right time. We got a properly deserved elected president. He appreciates your fervent support . Don't let the Americans down. Without the GOP, with all that chunk of money in offshore banks, which is helping to run the US economy and banks down, how can the private sector create jobs in the USA? Obama was right. Conservative bunkers.

The Republicans are hopeless. As long as they fearmonger, hatemonger, and worry that we might help our fellow Americans, they will remain what they are today. Irrelevant. I am tired of hearing government can't help the country. If you feel this way, DON'T RUN FOR OFFICE. We don't want to pay Republicans to do what they have done for the last eight years, which is NOTHING! That is why we are in this mess. The American people have longer memories than that media. Don't aid Republicans in their attempt to undermine a truly well meaning president.

Just read the comments in the Ticker article
'Pawlenty urges GOP outreach to 'Sam’s Club voters'
to see the left in all its hate filled glory.
As a low income conservative libertarian/republican (mostly libertarian views) I am wondering when its become fashionable and OK to say such things about the right (not all are members of the GOP). If these things were said about a minority it would be considered hate speech. (I guess it does matter who you are insulting after all and hate against a 'group' is OK if that group is unpopular huh?) When have I seen this before in history I wonder?

Sure does seem to prove my point of .....

A plethora of hate directed at Ann Coulter while describing how full of hate SHE is.

    The irony is stunning.

After eight years of listening to the hate spewing and vomiting forth from many on the left, aimed at the right, has turned the left into the very hatemongers they claim the right is.

I read the comments for months now, on this site and others, and I am realizing the left is transforming themselves into the very thing they fear and despise.

Stereotyping, hating, close minded, sexist, race baiting, nasty, foul mouthed, humorless, angry, spite filled, vengeful, arrogant, snobs.

(and don't forget foolish looking for claiming the right are the very things they demonstrate themselves to be(not alleged but their very own words display it for the world to see))

In their speeches, Limbaugh and Coulter talked so much about getting the GOP back in power, but not one idea was uttered about what the GOP should do when they get there. Rush says the focus should not about the issues, but about the overall philosophical differences. Coulter seems to think mindless redicule is the way to regain American confidence in the party of Reagan. NO, DUMMIES, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ISSUES! Obama and the Democrats are at least trying to solve the problem. If the GOP wants power back, they need to come up with a better idea!

Oh Ann...please, go find a nice fat, bald, white guy....(Rush comes to mind...) get married, get laid, have some kids, and find some happiness and joy, will you. How can the Christian Conservative crowd take you seriously without those bonafides?

insulting your president, wow ,I don't remember anyone ever making fun of Bush for the last 8 years. All this retoric is the same as 1992 when Clinton took over, it lasted until 94 when the Democrats got wiped out in the mid term election. Instead of whining here, you should be researching tax shelters to protect some of your hard earned income from your president. Opps, forgot again, most Democrats don't pay taxes.

At least Ann has some balls. To all you dems, listen to what she has to say. It all make sense, maybe just for me who used to live in socialist "comunist" country, which Poland was before 1989. What is going on in "socialism in making 101". It didn't work in Polan, it didn't work in Russia. Why do you think it's going to work here?
Most of you democrats are listening, reading to pro Obama media. What you know about conservatism are some excerpts given to you by your media. I urged you to switch that dial once in a while to see what other side has to say. I do it myself to be closer to truth.
