Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Yeah and not even a whiff of an idea or a solution or a new way forward. A party of blowhards and nothing else. I am so glad that this country I love decided on President Obama to move it forward.
The president (whom Coulter disrespectfully calls Lincoln) will not get all that he wants accomplished but he at least has given us a vision, a plan, new ideas for this new age. Wake up republicans it's not 1980 anymore.

Limbaugh and Coulter... no wonder the Republican party has run out of ideas and solutions, they use these circus freaks as spokespeople.

How about something ORIGINAL instead of the usual (and now discredited) Republican playbook?

Ann Coulter; can there be a better example of why the Republicans are on a downhill slide?

It is unfortunate that Ms. Coulter has managed to turn mean-spiritedness into a very good living. She is obviously an intelligent woman who could have made a positive contribution to society. Instead, she appeals to the basest and most hateful qualities in people.

This lady is so adept at insulting and disrespecting others it's unbelievable. It's one thing to have an opinion, it's another thing to be nasty about it.....and insult the President, especially at this time when he has his hands full.
Once again, it's like the hypocrites of the Harper Valley PTA. Where was all this venom when the national debt was exploding the financial system was existing in unregulated bliss, knowing a blind eye was facing them.
I don't know about you but when I make a mistake or those I stand for do, I apologize to those I have hurt and I certainly don't spend a lot of energy trying to tear people down and tear the country apart. What in god's name are these people thinking?

Who cares?... This is what Ms. Coulter is PAID to do. She has made a nice wad of cash being "controversial". She's very enterprising. At the end of the day, all she does is criticize and never offers any solutions. What makes her any different then these windbags who post there hate-based drivel on here?

Every time Ann Coulter opens her mouth another voter sees the light and starts voting Democratic. Please keep her in the headlines. (... and Rush Limbaugh, and Sara Palin, and not-Joe not-the-Plumber, and Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly, and ...)

I want to know when the goverment is going to comeout with programs for people who do not qualify for any now. We are not rich and ae are not considered poor.My husband is a vetnam vet and he is deemed not employable he gets 100% disability, I lost my job and haven't been able to find another one. We make to much for these programs and not enough for others. We have one disabled child living with us and one in college living with uswe live on the edge. So after these fat cats have been getting so many tax cuts and we got nothing and will still get nothing, and goverment giving them selves big raises it's all become a joke.

Corrupt- to ruin with unsound manners, morals and actions.

    Pathetic- inspiring pity

Asisine – inexcusable failure to execise intelligence or sound judgment

    Creeps – annoying, unpleasant persons

This exactly describes the Republican Party.

Old girl needs to tighten up that face lift. She's looking kind of saggy.

Ann Coulter-geist and her crowd have become the "Gilligan's Island Crew" of politics. Rush Limbaugh is the captain. They are lost out there somewhere, and in need of a serious rescue.

Ann Coulter-geist is that type that was nerdy in school, and was never noticed by the boys. Now she's an intelligent woman, but she's still not feeling the love. So she went underground to the only party that would take her. But she's still bitter from all of the rejections, so she has targeted President Obama and Democrats as the reasons she was rejected in society. I'm glad she found her niche. She and Boss Hog are only a couple of the characters stranded on the island of misfit toys.

It's interesting that she would refer to Obama's win as "mediocre," given that he won by a higher percentage of the popular vote than did Reagan (the first time around, anyway). And, incidentally, he's also been compared to FDR, not just to Republican Presidents. Finally, "alternative prom crowd"? Real nice and inclusive. Sounds like Ms. Coulter is the poster child for why Republican ID is shrinking.
