Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Apparently this idiot Coulter has never read her history – or can she even read ?
If she did then she would know that Lincoln, as an Illinois legislator, frequently voted present.
What a typically idiotic conservative this cretin is .....

IMO, it doesn't say much about the future of the GOP when your keynote speakers are Limbaugh and Coulter. The far right wing of the GOP may love them, but considering they only make up a small portion of the voters in this country I don't think the Democrats have a lot to worry about as long as the GOP continues to head down their road.

Her delivery may be biting, but her message is more often than not correct. This governement – and that means ALL of congress and the administration – is going to take this country down a path that will take a long time to recover.
The US has the most progressive income tax in the world – 'progressive' means that portions of the tax paying public pay different percentages based on income. If the coutnry is built on small business, then why does the administration and congress think that taxing them more will generate more jobs and lead to recovery?

This is exactly what a resounding majority of the American people rejected. You don't have to spew hate to prove you have values. This shows that these folks at CPAC have no respect for the American voter and their ability to make a conscious decision on who is their leader. This shows the contempt with which Limbaugh and Coulter address the American people. I'm not stupid and the media DID NOT make me do it. I'm an education, established, well-read adult who decided to not vote for hate, who decided to vote for what America can be again. Limbaugh and Coulter and Cornyn and their ilk are one of the reasons you saw memebership in hate groups like the KKK increase substantially after the election. These so-called "conservatives" are not Americans. they are not citizens. They are the rogue fringe that got us into this mess. I for one will vote against hate every chance I get.

The problem with people who think they are "superior and tough" Is that they don't really know what peace is, and have no clue of the level of patience and dignity it takes to keep that peace. They just stay in their mad little world. Make no mistake though, I think most of the anger in these posts is justified. Considering how much the Republican's attack the Democrats. Without offering any kind of solutions to the problems most of America seems concerned with. Angry people think they can get mad. They have never seen the peaceful people get mad.

She's such a bitter old cow. And for the record, I'm sure Lincoln exchanged words with people who worked in the theater back then, the equivalent of today's texting. It would have been odd for a dignitary to have not been presented with the lead actors in the plays.

And what is the importance of this anyway? Is she trying to say that the only effective leaders are the ones who speak only to people she deems worthy? What a self-important old hag. Get over yourself, you and your pill-popping, hypocrite friend Rush.

I can't stand this ANNIE chick! I wish somehow she lost her voice and never regained it! I do have to agree with her on the media's love of Obama during the campaign. I loved out loud when the media made it a 3 day circus when Scarlet Johansen revealed that Dem Idol Obama had sent her a text. Or how they compare him to Lincoln. Or even to Reagan. He may, one day, deserve comparisons to any and all the presidents of the United States but to compare him within the 1 st month to them is ridiculous since he has yet to accomplish anything more than showing the world that left handed people write funny! (I'm a leftie too)

Ann Coulter? Is she ,and Rush Limbaugh for that matter, still relevant? If the GOP lets these two be its spokespersons, then the road back to power for the GOP will be very very long and that is fine with me.

What else would you call her, if not a comedienne? She is not much of a writer, she is not a journalist, not a policy expert, not a historian, and by comparison of Coulter's judgment, Stephen Colbert is less extreme.

It appears the entire country is filled with people who don't understand, don't care and certainly are foolish. Republican Party! Democratic Party! Where in the Constitution is there an allowance for political parties to control the Congress? They are both only interested in power and keeping their people in office at any costs to the people and the country. Let one representative vote what he/she thinks is best for the country instead of the party line and see how long they stay in office. Like the Venezuelans, those one chose socialism deserve what is coming.

With the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, Gingrich, and Coulter advising and leading the Republican party we have the Four Horsemen mentioned in the Bible. Hopefully the Second Coming will get here before the Republicans can regain control of the government and carry out the wishes of the above mentioned Four (headless, as in brainless) Horsemen.
