Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Let me summarize all these posts.... "You Republicans are stupid!" "No, you Democrats are stupid" "No, you're stupid" etc. etc.

The blind hatred of all things related to the other party will prevent or at least dramatically slow down economic recovery. Instead of wanting everyone to be better off, the warring factions of these parties don't mind being miserable so long as the other party is miserable too.

You know, even if someone isn't exactly like you, they may still have a good idea or two. Open minds will take us farther than open mouths.

Dear God help us. Now these pinheads are calling this the Obama recession. Are they freaking kidding? And does anyone who isn't drunk, senile or conservative believe this? When the country completely collapses, the Republicans will be at the helm, just like they were when this awful recession hit. Heck, if I was Rush or Ann, with money to light cigarettes, I'd talk this stupid smack too. A message to their followers: THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU. YOU ARE A TOOL SO THAT THEY CAN MAKE MORE MONEY. Get a clue!

i don't agree with just about everything Coulter says.
However, it's a free country and she's entitle to her opinion. Just because i disagree does not prevent me from listening to her point of view just as i would someone whose sympathies aligned with mine.
I don't fear her, i don't hate her. She has said some outrageous things and that's part of the appeal.
she doesn't have a real job. all she does is write her opinion in books and travel to talk shows willing to take someone who will incite the audience. i can't blame her for needing to be topical and to stand out from all the other talking heads as a way of keeping her career going.
just take what she says with a grain of salt. no on as insane as how coulter appears to be will ever have the ability to ever do anything of actual importance to society- they had their chance the last 8 years and screwed it up terribly. just let her list off all the things she hates about people who are not her or her sympathizers and laugh it off.
she is the modern media equivalent of the crazy cat lady yelling at the kids to stay off her lawn.

Ann Coulter is a wack job... She hates all democrats and liberals... Thinking we should all think like her? Guess what she needs to climb into a hole along with Rush the big mouth Limbaugh and Michelle Bachmann. Michelle Bachmann wanted to have the whole congress to be investigated to see who is anti-American. She said that it was taken out of context. I heard it on Hardball with Chris Matthews. People who think like that, well welcome back the 1950's and Joe McCarthy!

I can't believe how filled with anger and hatred these people are. I know some decent republicans who really want what they think is best for the country. These clowns just turn them away from the Republican party.!

Whose imagination is greater, that of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter,
or the Republican governor of Louisiana, young Bobby Jindal?
Every one of them needs a giant FACT CHECK following each utterance.

Yeah, well it was THEIR party, hers and Limbaugh's, that really destroyed this country over the past 8 years. So I guess when you've been voted out and have nothing else to do...

And if anyone can speak from experience about mistakes and screwing up the country, these 2 sure can....

    *sigh*

It's clear that Ann Coulter has run out of ideas. She can only resort to barbs, name-calling, and calling Speaker Nancy Pelosi "mentally retarded."

Is conservativism out of ideas already?

Are Coulter and Limbaugh planning to run for office in the future? Listening to either of them about politics is like taking a religion lesson from Tom Cruise ;)

Coulter is just jealous of Obama because she doesnt have the brains needed to use text messaging, like all of the other misogynist Republicans she has problems with any words over 4 letters, if it isnt the word hate, kill or maim she doesnt have a clue what it means. It tells a lot about the misguided and broken GOP (Greedy Old Pigs) when the two most noted speakers at this gathering in the pig sty are not politicians but those who write and speak of hatred, bigotry and despising any sign of intelligence. If this is all the GOP has to offer us, two dried up hate filled bigoted blow hards who have nothing to offer but more hatred and bigotry then we can safely say we will NOT see another member of the GOP anywhere near the White House for many many years to come. This is so typical of the GOP, if you lose you throw a tantrum and act like th elittle 3 year olds you are. And to have two of the most ridiculed and despised morons on talk radio and hate mongering writers of bigoted books as your spokespersons is the most telling of all. If the GOP does not realize that it has to turn from the illiterate and uneducated, hateful and bigoted past it has held to so strongly for so many years then it is nothing more than a symbol of the past like the Nazis and Hitler, another era of hatred and bigotry for anyone who does not believe as you do, one is surprised to not see hangmnes nooses present and burning of representatives of minority parties at a gathering of a lynch mob of these proportions. It is long since been time to put these signs of our misguided and evil past in the ground where they belng and move on to a more equal and love filled country, let the GOP tear itself apart from the inside out, the rest of the country is moving into the future where we no longer need such hateful and belittleing people to lead us to more hatred and bigotry. The people pf the GOP have tried to tell us they are not filled with hate and bigotry and yet they put on a specatacle of this nature where it is all you see, it is time they stop denying who they are and what they stand for and come forward and acknowledge how truly despicable a party they truly are.

You Demobrats understand that 47% of this country doesn't agree with you. 47% of this country will never back down from its beliefs and ideals. 47% that will fight tooth and nail to keep America a free nation. 47% that will never let the government control its life. 47% that will boycott any company the government tries to nationalize. 47% that will protect our children from your twisted theology. 47% that if pushed will without a blink of an eye will shove back twice as hard. 47% that work harder and are more dedicated to our lives. 47%! But keep telling yourself that we are the minority here, that's what we want you to think.
