Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Can't they see that Ann Coulter only does this type of thing because she gets a reaction out of it. She realized along the way that to be a Democrat, she actually needed brains. So she joined the right-wing of the Republican party knowing that all you need is to be mean and spiteful and they welcome you with open arms. Ann, Please!

This woman is such a whack job that she will reverse her position just to be vicious about a person or an issue........if I had the opportunity to meet this loud, rude and ignorant piece of insanity and she, for even an instant "approved" of me, I'd jump off a bridge!!

Aren't we a great civil country that is suppose to be intelligent and the leader of the world. With Limbaugh and Coulter we look like a bunch of clowns with nothing to do but spew hate. This country cannot ever move forward and take control of the problems we have with the likes of the GOP. How sad it all has become!

At least Ann will always have a job. Did you know she's the voice of all those toy Halloween witches that cackle at you when you walk by them?

She's great..... people read her books....she's no different than anyone blogging..... freedom of speech.....she complains about both parties and is not worried about being politically correct...because she is politically correct. The way you guys tried to destroy Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin.... everything is fair game. It's about time the gloves come off. Get use to it. The historical black president who was elected on color and not experience ....is now just a lousy president in less than 40 days spending more money on pork than anyone in History....not for the Economy.... but because of his socialist ideology.... read up on his background.

Lincoln was a politician like any other. He once climbed out a window to avoid a politicall charged vote. Pretty sure that is just as bad as voting 'present.' Coulter is playing off of ignorance.

I love how the link to this posting is "Coulter blasts Obama for text messages". She's not blasting him. And why do so many headlines these day say this person is "blasting" that person. Seriously, blasting? Thanks MSM for sowing violence into public discord. You are as much at fault for the acrimony of our leaders. This isn't a "blast", she's just making a joke that you could argue was/wasn't funny. So every time you hear of someone "blasting" someone else, don't believe the hype people.

As a woman I want to cringe every time I hear her open her mouth. She is the girl from high school that was obviously ignored by the boys b/c she thought she was so smart. Now that someone has given her a mic she can't ever shut up. Still trying to impress the boys, huh? What a shame...if you had any real self confidence you'd say a lot less shock "value" things. In the end sweetheart, the history books will still not write about you. Good luck though and know that my daughters will learn how you are not an example of an intelligent woman.

If Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh had a child together it would be a pill popping nazi.

LOL – the Obama group is at it again. The strategy they used during the campaign to innundate opposing sites with their ignorant comments has been revived again here. Take heart conservatives – all the posts here have been purposely orchestrated by the same people that got Obama into office. Call it well-orchestrated knee-jerking. No need to fear. The polls and Nielsen ratings show that they are going DOWN!

Some moron onn here wrote "lighten up libs" as if liberals are really all that upset by this story. The reality is, liberals love it when people like Ann Coulter or Sarah Palin speak. It only further hammers the nail into the far right-wing coffin.

Wow, this woman just may top the only other woman in politics to get the Libby's blood boiling on the ticker (Sarah Palin).

All that anger you feel right now Libby's, is how real Americans feel about your so called "woman", Pelosi.

As a democrat who is not fearful of Coulter or Limbaugh I just think it's amazing to me that a party that is suffering so much in terms of its popularity has turned to two ultra-controversial BROADCASTERS to be it's guiding light. I mean neither of these people has ever run for political office and I think it's safe to say that neither plans to. They can say whatever they want regarding the democratic party and never suffer for it because they're not actually politicians having to deal with the other side. And for those who are making comments disparaging the democrats as being no longer in the bipartisan camp...are you serious. When were the republicans ever bipartisan? I mean this type of crap from Coulter and the people who support her in these comments can certainly not say they want to help America move forward in a bipartisan fashion.....

OReilly, Hannity, Jindal, Coulter, Limbaugh, Steele, the "Plumber", et al are threads from the same swatch of fabric that should only be used as a dust rag or feces removal, then discarded. They all spout rhetoric that is short-sighted, bigoted, ill-informed and unintelligent. The only frightening thing is there are still some people listening to their robo speak. I remain hopeful that those still listening (and applauding) their bile will awaken from their foggy sleep and deeply reconsider their narrow minded and ill advised defacto leaders.
