Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Ann Coulter is a big fat liar. She gives the liberal, independent woman a bad name.

    Who cares what she says?
The sooner the GOP gets some persons with intellect and ideas to speak for and represent them the better because it is important to have serious relevant contribution from both sides.
She's just a clown in plain clothes.

Brad hit ball right on with ihs comment that, "The fact that I came home on a beautiful saturday afternoon to see an exclusive and lengthy live broadcast of Limbaugh's speech on CNN made me wonder if CNN has lost what was left of its journalistic creed...CNN you need to decide if you are part of the problem or part of the solution, it only takes a few seconds."

I am definitely loosing my appetite with the way CNN has been covering political garbage. Please stick to what millions of American and viewers throughout the world want honest reporting free from propaganda. I am really starting to wonder whether CNN prefers controversy than meaningful reporting that affects us all.

I do wish her too continue spewing her rhetoric. This idiot weakens the GOP everytime she shows up. I swear she would do her best work on a chrome pole with a low-lit stage, but some people keep taking her seriously. She is awesome! I actually thought the Republicans bribed her to go into hiding. Great to see you back Annie.

No one fears Ann Coulter becuase she is stupid. She has no influence over anyone and spews her hate to all her moronic followers. She should just go away and hid under a rock. Maybe Sarah Palin and her are twins born from Satan.

At least I got a chance to call Coulter a witch
    and Limbaugh a pit bull.
They should make a perfect couple. Call them witchdaugh

Ann does not always use the correct words but she gets it right every time. Sara Palin was hammered by the press but VP Biden or Speaker Polosi say the most stupid things (phone number for a web site, bridge to small business, 500 million jobs lost every month) but no mentions in the mainstream media or skits on Saturday Night Live. Way to go Ann!!!!!!

I would just repeat your words.
What a decadence in the Republican party!
They should consider themselves lucky they got Obama in the White House. Not sure they deserve it though.

Interesting how much time CNN is devoting to the GOP, they are not in control of any branches of the government. If CNN wants to be part of the solution how about you stop giving so much air time to people who only want to cause trouble of the country

Funny how some leaders the Republican Party call Obama's victory "mediocre" when it translated to over 8 and half million votes. That's more than 12 times the population of the vast frozen wasteland that puked out Governor Palin.

Imagine how many more votes Obama would have received if the uneducated knew he was NOT a Muslim and WAS born an American citizen?

Funny how the Republicans didn't harp on the fact that "their boy" W actually lost the popular vote in 2000.

Their leaders are coming off like sore losers, and are doing more and more to encourage the moderates to abandon the GOP completely.

And Ann Coulter, despite likely having a penis, is nothing more than a female body part beginning with C. That's from the heart, people. She is irrelevant.

It occurs to me that acoulter's extreme views on the world around her is instep with her so called conservative values but startling contradicts any true christian beliefs. By her standards, single unwed mothers are the a blithe on society and she infuses her conservatism to justify her hateful views on the subject. So that being said, I would hazard a guess that in Mary's day, Anne Coulter would have been the first to pick up a stone.

Jesus placed in the womb of a single unwed teenage mother to become our saviour – not all children of unwed mothers end up in prison darlin'.

Funny, the person who gets the biggest applause and standing ovations at Cpac is a racist and bigot (Rush Limbaugh). How on God's green earth do repubs/conservaties expect to appeal to the hip hop crowd as Steele stated with hate mungers like that leading the way. Rhetoric like how beautiful the flag is and strong the constitution ain't gonna get it when people are suffering.. These people better get some everyday Americans in their lives. Then Coulter called President Obama's victory a meager 56 to 46 percent victory. Almost 10 million votes and she said meager??? Good luck with your strategy of winning back the country.

EIGHT YEARS! Your side had this country in the palm of your hand for EIGHT FRIGGIN' YEARS!

What are you guys so angry at liberals for? Obama didn't create this mess–the conservatives in the White House and Congress had an opportunity to prevent it or at least minimize it and you failed MISERABLY! So excuse us if we don't exactly jump onto your bandwagon–especially when it means sharing a bench with propagandists like Coulter.

Keep it up this way and we can only thank all of you for not changing or for not learning from your mistakes!
Republicans want to take their country back...take what back and from whom...take it back from the last eight years and keep producing the same mess and giving people the same rhetoric, the same B.S.. Pathetic and not even close to represent the true but renewed conservatism!

Obviously, the republicans must agree with her since they invited her to speak and she is without doubt one of the biggest liars in America. This is how they want to rebuild themselves? The more she talks the more votes she looses. Keep it up because they way the conservatives are going they will loose in 2010 and 2012.
