Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Say what you will about Coulter, she's still one of the funniest men the Republicans have in their corner.

Honestly.....................who even really listen's to the Republican Party anymore???!!! It is already a non-relevent party. And really, Repulicans need to realize that all of you are being played by both Ann and Rush. They are simply laughing all the way to the bank with your money!!! Nobody outside of your party even listen's to them, but all of you do. What have they done for your party? Exploiting all of you so they can cash a check. You only have yourselves to blame! Isn't it funny that Ann Coulter has dated a Muslim man (yes the same people that caused 9/11-not all but the radical ones. And yes, he is a radical) and most of the men she has dated are Democrats...the same people she has distain for. Rush, that is almost to easy! He too had a housekeeping scandal with employment and she provided him with Viagra (according to him!). So please, you are know as a dishonest, deceiving party starting with stealing the election in 2000 and so it is only fitting that you have been reduced to nothing more than a punch line. Then you gave us the ultimate entertainment....Sarah Palin! Then you think you are breaking ground by electing a black man to run the RNC and he is proving to be nothing but a tool!! So keep trying to be something that you are not............DEMOCRATS!!!!

If a person has nothing to actually offer or sell, they profit by selling hate. Ann actually has nothing else to offer. She is selling what people are willing to buy. It's easy to sell hate and anger today because this country is in deep trouble.

I guess it is consistent that GOP conservatives adore eye candy that says nothing.

OF course God help us all if they actually lack the critical reasoning skills to see the absurdity of her statements, I mean there could be people in the audience nodding thoughtfully at her verbal diarreah, and if those people were ever put ina position of power we would....

... be where we are now....

I never know what to do with Coulter. She's as funny as Stephen Colbert, she's not as hot as brittany spears so i can't just put her on mute and watch and her statements lack credibility like pretty much EVERYONE on TV.

Maybe I will just watch and hope to catch that decompensation moment when her BPD driven schema collapses in on itself in spectacular fashion.

I mean i'd never wish it on anyone but if she's gonna make a spectacle of herself I might as well watch....

There's a couple of hundred comments on this article, mostly by liberals, and a large portion of them are some of the most vile, nasty, disrespectful comments I've ever seen. This sounds like a bunch of 12 year olds calling names. Try being civil and a lot more of your comments might be taken seriously. From your comments, I'd say there's a lot more hate on the liberal side than the conservative. Your comments will drive many away from the Democratic party (not me, I left along time ago).
It appears that you think that freedom of speech is only for people who agree with the drivel and false promises coming out of Washingtom today.
Ann Coulter is a great entertainer, and if you people could see past what you percieve to be blashemy to your messiah, you might enjoy some of that entertainment.
As for me, you make me sick,. Enjoy your 13 bucks a week of "stimuluous) you bunch of hairy backed loosers, and when the koolaid is gone, and your empty suit is out of ideas, I will proudly say I told you so. In the mean time blow it out your arses. (That felt really good for a moment to lower myself to your level)

Lest we forget, it was the conservative agenda that got us into this mess in the first place. Ms. Coulter and Mr. Limbaugh seem clueless as to that fact. Which in my mind really means they are only entertainers, not leaders. And not very good ones at that.

If Ann would put all that time and energy towards activities that help solve our countries current problems and be a leader by example in that light of hope, we could all admire her for the effort. She's good at getting media attention and believes she is helping the country, but her negative approaches only make the people who truly love this country shake their heads! Come on Ann! I want to believe that you can do more for our country with your media popularity then just run down what you don't like about who the majority of people in our beloved country have voted for to run it...

Keep on talking Coulter- with Limbaugh & yourself as poster children for the RNC, the Democrats will have nothing to fear. Yep- keep on talking. I just love it when you two step up to the microphone. There is NOTHING the Democrats could ever come up with that could equal the negative publicity you give to your own party.

can any of these people identify with the common folk. When was the last time any of those people made less then $100,000 a year. When was the last time they had to make tough decisions about buying food for their family or skipping a medical bill payment? These people are in la la land.

    Superferret:

"Their prideful and ignorant attacks on CPAC and the speakers displays their true character"

You do understand that Ann Coulter does the same thing correct? I have watched many of her interviews and she is not only arrogant, but also has no concern for bipartisan politics. So let me ask you why should we the non-conservatives really try and be nice to a woman who would spew such an equal amount of ignorance?

The fact that you support some of the garbage that comes out of her mouth shows very little of YOUR character.

I understand Ms. Coutler has to speak the way she does in order to get audiences. She is even entertaining at times. However, isn't this all too soon to campaign for 2012? We just elected a new president. Let's give him a chance so nobody cries foul in 2012.

*Shrugs* If the GOP want Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh to be the media-related voices for their party, and Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann to be the political voices, let 'em. Just makes those of us on the left laugh at them that much harder.

Ann Coulter spews nothing but toxic waste and tries to incite riots. She adds nothing to the discussion. She adds nothing to the debate on how to fix this country. And trust me, it needs fixing. She is and has always been "part of the problem". She will never be part of the solution. Toxic waste. That's all she is.

Wow. Texting. Is that the worst they can come up with? Let the Republicans say all they want. It's barely been two months. The critics have no ground yet and are only looking foolish and hack with the corny jokes. They seem to forget who got the country into this mess in the first place. Yes, the country needs change because the old guard wasn't cutting it or showing signs of changing their game plan. They don't like Obama's plan but still can't come up with anything themselves.

My previous President did an overall horrible job. I want to see what my new President can do

Its always funny to me, and I have always been a registered Republican, how "conservatives" always think they are correct in everything they say, do and spew. If they're so darn smart and correct, then after 8 years of them in office, why are we in the dumpster?

Rush and Coulter. Not a wonder why the Republicans are in such horrible shape. A fat drug addict and a women who can't get a date. Both of these entertainers can not get anyone to live with them. Does that tell you anything? When the Republicans/Conservatives can move beyond having entertainers as "leadesr" then they might get a clue. As a Conservative, who had no choice but to vote for Obama, it is sad to see what the Republicans have become. What base do they have? Dittoheads.

After eight years of the Bush policies that put the country in the state it is in, a Presidential campaign filled with hate, fear mongering, divisiveness and it continues with people like Ann Coulture and Rush Limbaugh....Then Republican posters write how Democrats must be afraid . YEAH !!! Democrats are afraid that there are still people out there that don't get it. Unfortunately it is the Republican party. It is so sad that they still believe in divisiveness , all the while whining and criticizing the Democrats for the very thing they have been doing during this conference. Yeah Democrats are scared and so should the rest of America if these people think they can lead lead the country. Where have they been during the past eight years, Oh, that's right, they have been blaming Democrats for everything wrong with the country.
